One fall match. 3rd defense; previous match ended in injury stoppage under 3 minutes.
I had a Mexico proxy that was working suboptimally, decided to try for better, and only got worse. Even my VPN wasn’t working so great (though the version up on the Google Drive is better than Twitch version last night.) I got the main event last night, but even that didn’t work because Marca’s own stream failed for about a half a minute. (I think the powerbomb onto the apron was missed.) That match was Soberano and Templario going right for the big moves. It was spectacular and they got the crowd into it, but I would’ve liked a better build those moments.
Soberano Jr. says his knee injury has changed his thoughts on how he’s going to handle injuries going forward. He wrestled through the knee injury, getting six cortisone shots on the advice of older luchadors, and it didn’t help at all. “It’s not cowardly to stop wrestling, it’s more frustrating to go months without work, it’s better to pause wrestling and rest for a few weeks when dealing with an injury.” He also notes the CMLL medical service is now much quicker

1st place match
10) La Jarochita, Lluvia, Sexy Sol b Náutica, Stephanie Vaquer, Valkiria
La Chicas Indomables stole the pin from Sexy Sol after having issues with her last week
I’m less confident than usual that I got these results correct. I think it might not matter, it probably looks like an impenetrable blob of text to everyone. Most weeks, I’m just scanning through the video as quickly as possible to find results. This week, I kept dividing the video up into individual matches and then finding even more matches. This appears to be a round-robin league tournament, a third place game, and a first place game, all in one night. I think my results might be wrong because I have the CDMX, QRO and Torreon/Lagunero teams all going 2-1 and that doesn’t explain why the Laguna team ended up in 3rd place. (Maybe they combined previous standings?) Team Mexico City were the ultimate winners.

- Shows with a tournament: 11
- Shows without a tournament: 9
It’ll go up to 15/9 by the end of the month. These are ‘off’ weeks now. This off week keeps the Stuka/Atlantis feud warm. Hechicero makes his first in-ring appearance on a Friday night show in about six weeks Los Infernales team up in the semi-main. New trios champs face Ola Negra.
This show is scheduled on Ticketmaster Live. Those who bought last week’s failed shows were supposed to get automatically refunded. I didn’t see one when looking at my credit card info as recently as this morning.

Titan finished the NJPW Best of Super Juniors at 4-5, winning his last three matches. The final win was upsetting Robbie Eagles, knocking Eagles out of contention for the block. Eagles joked about coming to Mexico to get revenge. (He’d be a nice person to have for the Gran Prix, but that would be reading way too much into a twitter post.) Titan finishes off his tour with an opening atomicos match early Friday morning.
CMLL Informa has ten different guests. They were planning on having fans back for this show but that appears to be pushed back a few weeks.
Valiente expects to be back in a month, according to an interview with Reforma. He’s battled depressing dealing with the (still unspecified) leg injury; there was a point where he couldn’t even walk and he decided he needed to learn to enjoy his injury time out.

This is the weekend after Tijuana, with some but not all working in Monterrey two days later.
This poster was leaked out locally, made it to Twitter, deleted locally, and then I was told on Twitter that it might change. I dunno about that last part. If we’ve learned anything in the last week, it’s that AAA’s unlikely to change a poster.
The main is NGD’s biggest test yet for their undefeated streak. Semi-main is the biggest test yet for “is Villano III Jr. actually good?”; we might actually have a match to showcase him to people who don’t watch AAA. Sussy Love seems to have passed her test to latch on here. Flamita/Willie Mack seems to be the product of a PWG time machine.
IWRG
IWRG brought back their Tuesday NGT shows on 05/17 and said they were going to return to running them every second week. There was no 05/31 show.
The next Arena Naucalpan show is Thursday, headlined a Los Villanos vs Los Brazos throwback match. This is a Mas Lucha Premium show and they announced Monday Villano IV and Psycho Clown were added to that main event. That show should do very well with Psycho Clown in Naucalpan. It surprises Villano IV isn’t been booked much given he’s the lead protagonist of AAA for this year and should have some buzz coming off his match in Monterrey. Maybe he’s just trying to get to October in one piece.
Mas Lucha’s show Monday night also had a long discussion about Travis Banks, the ethics of promotions using him, the meaning of Speaking Out not coming up in Mexico and how it affects this situation, what responsibility media has in continuing to write about him, the inequal way some media is treated in covering them, and a lot more. It starts at about the two hour mark – it seemed like they were wrapping up and then kinda fell into a rabbit hole – and it got a little heated at times. Give them credit for addressing the elephant in the room.
There is a graphic floating around listing a Mistico/Johnny Naucalpan (Mundo) match for June 30th. No one seems to know if it’s real. The idea of Johnny Mundo as Johnny Naucalpan (among other Mexico places) is a joke that’s been floating around for a while, but someone worked very hard making a realistic fake if it is one of those. I think we might know if it’s for real Thursday night, it seems like something made to be announced during that IWRG show. Johnny wrestling for AAA and also wrestling Mistico seems unlikely even if the match is announced.

LuchaWorld has the latest edition of their podcast, this week’s Poster-Mania and the latest Lucha Report.
LA Park was critical of DMT Azul and Hijo del Espectro for copying Blue Demon Jr. The missing context here is they were wrestling Blue Demon Jr., so it was sort of a tribute act. It also came off like LA Park was trying to build matches with both of them, threatening them to mask matches. DMT Azul responded by saying he wasn’t copying, he was mocking Demon, said Park had lost his mask five times already and he’d be fine making it a 6th. Azul also asked someone to book a singles match with him and Park so he could wear/mock a Park mask.
RIOT announced they’ll have to move their June show for a second time, now to Terraza Elma. The shortest version is the venue they were going to use was approved for events by the local government, but that government had decided it needed to be recertified from scratch for a wrestling event. That was going to be both time-consuming and costly a week out from the show, so they’re moving to a wrestling-only venue. Refunds are being offered for those affected by the move.
Orizaba luchadors are pushing the local government for tougher rules managing lucha libre. The previous local commission is described as one that give a license to anyone who just paid the fee, and they’re looking to add medical, physical and skill exams. They’d also like pre-match medical checks.
Quintana Roo luchador Black Master (Angel Pech) passed away, as announced by home promotion/building Arena Vidal. Black Master had shown up on their lineups in the years prior to the pandemic and hadn’t returned as they’ve eased back into wrestling. He appeared rather young.
