Daylight Savings Time ended in Mexico on Sunday. If you didn’t change your clocks, all Mexico streams are an hour later for the next week (or until next Spring if your country doesn’t deal with DST.) This affects the Tuesday & Friday CMLL Dia del Muertos streams; they’ll be back to normal by Sunday. It also affects the AAA Twitch stream, except that show hasn’t been in the same time slot for a month anyway.
CMLL
CMLL (FRI) 10/29/2021 Arena México [CMLL, Estrellas del Ring, KaiserSports, Mas Lucha, The Gladiatores]
1) Grako & Inquisidor b Arkalis & Sonic
2) Dark Magic, El Coyote, Okumura b Pegasso, Sangre Imperial, Stigma
3) Dalys, Dark Silueta, Stephanie Vaquer b La Jarochita, Marcela, Princesa Sugehit
4) Ángel de Oro, Cavernario, Terrible DQ Euforia, Hechicero, Mephisto
Hechicero hit the referee
5) Gran Guerrero, Templario, Último Guerrero b Místico, Titán, Volador Jr.
Rudos took 2/3, seemingly setting up a Templario/Gran Guerrero vs Volador/Titan title match
That tag match is the logical flip side of Mistico/Ultimo Guerrero but it won’t be happening next week unless a match get sadded.
Attendance was noticeably up for this show. CMLL is opening more areas for people to sit, though the important part is people want to sit there. The Dia del Muertos cards aren’t exciting but they seem to be coming at the right moment, when Mexicans feel comfortable and are interested in going out for entertainment again. This might be the best week for the promotion in a couple of years.
CMLL (SUN) 10/31/2021 Arena México [CMLL, De Luchas TV, ESTO, Kaiser Sports]
1) Leono & Retro b Apocalipsis & Cholo
2) Avispa Dorada, La Vaquerita, Skadi b La Comandante, La Metálica, Tiffany
tecnicos took 1/3
3) Hijo del Villano III, Okumura, Pólvora DQ Akuma, Espanto Jr., Misterioso Jr.
Espanto Jr. unmasked Polvora and challenged him to a mask match
4) Kráneo, Stuka Jr., Volcano b Cancerbero, Luciferno, Raziel
tecnicos took 1/3
5) Fugaz, Titán, Volador Jr. b Dragón Rojo Jr., Felino, Rey Bucanero
Espanto Jr. challenging Polvora is so random and yet specific that it’s probably going somewhere. A normal CMLL year would have a cage match during the holiday season and CMLL’s increasingly gone back to normal. Note that these lineups are closer to the pre-pandemic form with four trios and a 2v2 opener, they’re just missing the lighting match.
Today’s Arena Puebla show has Los Cancerberos against the Panteritas & Guerrero Maya. A title change would be surprising but none of these titles more for the location than the teams; the Cancerberos winning these was a prize but not a plan to go somewhere with it. Ultimo Guerrero & Gran Guerrero face Atlantis Jr. & Volador in the main event.
Tuesday’s Arena Mexico event starts the week of Dia del Muertos shows. It includes the Rey del Inframundo cibernetico and nothing much as of note; it’ll cost 173 pesos (8.30 USD) as a US PPV. This show will air on Heraldo Television in two weeks, which is not easily available online.
Roberto “Roshi” Javier Hernandez passed away on Friday. CMLL describes him as a collaborator who helped develop their new stars. R de Rudo describes Hernandez as a guy who came up with ideas to enhance characters, like someone helping fine tune gimmicks. No cause of death was mentioned.
AAA
This past week’s AAA TV episode was weaker than the (very late) lineup suggested. The main event had no finish, seemingly because AAA booked a Mercenario versus Poder del Norte match and then decided they couldn’t beat either team. NGD showed their strengths (cool team offense) and weaknesses (disinterest in making their opponents look good) in the second match. The mixed tag was whatever. The only important bit that happened was Villano III Jr. agreeing to join Los Mercenarios, which aired as a video on the internet and not as part of the TV show.
On his podcast, Konnan seemed sure FTR will appear at TripleMania Regia. He also believed TripleMania Regia will air on live Space. He also thought the international rights lawsuit would soon be revolved.
Konnan has mentioned repeatedly that TV stuff is not his department, so that may be what he’s been told or is assuming based on past big shows. The previous TripleMania Regia was specifically a Multimedios airing as a tradeoff for the TV company promoting the live event. Legal issues are also not Konnan’s department, and he’s been saying the international stuff would be resolved before August’s TripleMania, and maybe even before then. I think Konnan may not be getting the most accurate info but I hope he’s right, it would make all our lives easier.
In theory, AAA will have to know prior to this week’s tapings if they’re airing TripleMania Regia live on Space or a delay to figure out if they need a Space TV show for 12/04. They’ve got to know how many weeks of TV to tape, how many show intros they need to tape, and so on. Or they could just take a guess and air some repeats if they haven’t figured it out, as they have done in the past.

The cage match had an unexciting ending – Pirata Morgan Jr. is among the least known wrestlers in that large family – and I didn’t hear great things about the matches, but the annual cage match continues to draw well. Mas Lucha’s stream went out during the show but came back in time for the main event.
Komander tore a tendon in his ankle at the end of August and was said to need three to six months of recovery. He came back to the ring in two months, wrestling last night in Metepec as a replacement for Estrella Divina (who was at IWRG instead.) Komander taped a month of AAA TV right before he got hurt; he’ll have only missed a single weekend of their shows if he’s back at the taping this weekend.
That show in Metepec, promoted by Big Lucha and Expo Museo, drew a small amount of people in a big building even with Bandido, Penta, Cinta de Oro, and Texano on top. The four wrestled for the “IOWC Heavyweight Championship”, an independent belt that gets talked a lot about by Lucha Libre Online and Mas Lucha among other media but doesn’t seem to mean anything to anyone beyond them.
Wrestling Observer Radio had a question about the status of MLW’s Azteca Underground. Dave Meltzer said the MLW believed they were close to a media deal, that deal didn’t happen, and the project is now on hold until a new deal gets done if one gets done.
12/18 Lucha Memes Universal at Arena Coliseo
The last two Lucha Memes cards had 12 people on the show entirely, so 10 people in one match for this one is surprising.
Mexico City arena indie wrestler Saeta Celestial (Luis Omar Rojas) passed away on Friday according to SuperLuchas. He’s been on low-level shows since 2019. No cause of death was mentioned.
Oaxaca luchador Indio Comanche (Luis Ramirez Sanchez) passed away back on October 13 due to stroke, according to nvinoticias. He was more active in the 60s and 70s.
DTU announced their NEXO Tag Team Championship is now vacant with new champions decided in November. Pesadilla & Paranokio were the most recent champions, and Pesadilla had earlier this year said he was stepping away from wrestling.
Box y Lucha has a lot of Dia del Muertos stuff. Box y Lucha is doing a print issue every second week, so the digital only weeks – like this week – are being labeled with a D instead of a new number. This is 3493D.
