IWRG (SUN) 12/06/2020 Arena Naucalpan [Cronista del Ring, ESTO, Mas Lucha, SuperLuchas]
1) Halcón Mágico b Legendario
2) Dick Angelo 3G & Sobredosis b Baby Star & Mexica
3) Baby Xtreme b Puma de Oro [IWRG IC Light]
Baby Xtreme wins the tournament and the title.
4) Toxin © b The Tiger [IWRG MEXICO]
Toxin had said he’d put up his mask if he lost. He didn’t lose but Tiger would like the match anyway.
5) Demonio Infernal & Fresero Jr. b Jessy Ventura & Pasion Cristal [IWRG IC TAG, final]
Los Noegociantes get to challenge champions Bryce Benjamin and Marshe Rockett at some other date.
6) Galeno del Mal, Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., Puma King b Hijo de Canis Lupus, Hijo del Alebrije, Hijo Del Espectro Jr.
Puma won via foul.
7) Dr. Wagner Jr. DQ Capo Mayor [hair]
A bunch of masked men attacked Wagner (as part of trying to give Capo Mayor any chance in winning this.) Capo Mayor got the three count after an unseen martinete, but a second referee reversed the decision because of that piledriver.
This was a Mas Lucha Premium show, so lots of recaps but few mentions of how the matches went. I think Toxin/Tiger went well and money was thrown in for Baby Extreme/Puma de Oro. I keep reading that main event finish and that’s like the epitome of things I wish not to pay for in 2020. But I’m not the entire audience for these.
Gran Hamada was honored on the show. Mas Lucha posted a tribute video.
Hijo del Espectro Jr. took Hijo del Zumbido’s hair in Arena Lopez Mateos. That arena has the reunited Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero and Toscano against Joe Lider, Black Warrior and Halloween on 12/19 billed as the Last Battle, so either they’re not doing the Lider/UG hair match or they’re lying in their show titles. Villano III Jr. is listed on the card, but he says he’s not yet confirmed for the show.
Mas Lucha put up the 11/28 Vanguardia show, which is the first time results have turned up. Crazy King & Miedo Extremo kept the promotion’s tag team titles and Drolux & Moria kept Black Mask Lucha Libre tag titles. Falcon Fire was supposed to defend the Black Mask Cruiserweight title against a mystery person but didn’t show. Multibronce (ex-Mascara de Bronce) was probably supposed to be the mystery person and he faced Gasaprin Jr. instead. Note the main event Ciclope/Hernandez barbed wire match is in a separate file from the rest of the show.
GALLI’s show on Sunday is up on Facebook. Time codes don’t work great on Facebook, Aeroboy vs Rey Fuego is around 1 hour 11 minutes, Gringo Loco vs Gino Medina vs Arez is around 1:35. I only saw that second match, which was good except for the Arez injury scare. (I thought it was his ankle but it was apparently a knee; I need to improve my Spanish body part memorization today.) Arez is hanging around the US for a few weeks at a really bad time to hang around the US, but I hope he picks up a few bookings. GALLI is going dark until January 17th.
Dalys’ last two losses in a CMLL were “win but get DQed for refusing to release hold” and “excessive violence DQ”. Her most recent loss now is a clean pinfall loss to Lluvia. (Dalys had a shoulder up, but that seemed more bad execution than an attempt to get dispute the finish; she doesn’t argue it and she doesn’t kick out at all.) Very curious. I have the same guesses about that as you.
That outcome doesn’t seem like it’s going anywhere, though it is impossible to be sure. Whoever is coordinating which matches air where is struggling with that task. Matches to start a feud are sometimes airing on a different network, or even a different country, than the ones that end the feud. And that’s even if all the parts air. There’s an Angel de Oro/Ultimo Guerrero program on NJPW World alone that was probably designed to air in Mexico, and other bits of programs not shown completely. (The buried treasure I’m looking for is a taped Bandido/Templario match; NJPW World has the lead up match but the 1v1 hasn’t surfaced anywhere we have eyes.) This is a problem that comes up a lot with all lucha libre TV: it doesn’t matter how well a show is booked if it’s not put on TV in any sort of logic. I would not allege CMLL is booked well, but whoever’s putting the TV shows together is making it worse.
(Other CMLL TV note: the Lucha Azteca show is now airing on Azteca at least four times a weekend. The first three times are one episode, the fourth time was a different episode. At least this week. Maybe not next week. All matches airing this week had turned up previously. None are particularly noteworthy.)
This week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter mentioned the four Marvel wrestlers will be two AAA wrestlers, one AEW wrestler and one MLW wrestler. I have guesses but I’m not ready to put them down. The WON also mentions AAA was interested in booking Jon Moxley and other AEW talent, in addition to the Colons & Taya. Looking back at it now, it is surprising AAA just didn’t stick with 12/05 as their show date once it became a no fans show, since it could’ve allowed Taya & Rush to participate. Maybe it was a TV driven decision.
Veracruz moved to a green health code. Green doesn’t make everything goes – there are still limitations until a vaccine is available, including capacity limits – but it’s as open as it’s going to be for now. Both Xalapa and Veracruz have busy indie scenes; neither seems very profitable but there’s a lot of people who call themselves luchadors in Xalapa in particular and I suspect small shows will restart by Christmas.

The Gladiatores reports luchadors Pequeno Goliath (Margarito Alonso) and Baja California luchador Mozambique (Miguel Nicolás Torres Santiago, 54) has passed away. I don’t know much about Pequeno Goliath, but I do recall Mozambique lost his mask this past January.
