What happened:

Valiente used the ropes to beat Gran Guerrero after Gran Guerrero had tried and got caught a moment earlier. This set up a singles match for the following week, which wouldn’t happen when the shows were canceled.

Thoughts:

It’s hard to believe the Gran Guerrero/Valiente match will ever pick up, being a rare non-title feud built around a freak injury in the first place. They seemed fine here, though most of it was mask ripping and ducking out on the big confrontation. Angel de Oro & Niebla Roja are among the many acts who get over better with the casual Tuesday crowds than the Friday night ones.

Kraneo is a vet enough to know that Shocker is safe taking a chop and reeling backward, and not much more. Having Shocker catch a Star Jr. dive isn’t as good a use, though I suppose it was better than him taking a big splash. This semi-main was a predictably poor mix of people; the big tecnicos really need smaller rudos to bump around. Star Jr. needs someone not dropping him on his head as Vangellys did here.

Blue Panther & Dark Magic felt like they didn’t plan out anything before coming out and they’re not two guys who can wing it. Panther is never big on selling and barely did anything here, and Dark Magic needs someone working hard to make his stuff look good. The quebradora con giro spots were atrocious and I wasn’t sure what Dark Magic was meant to be doing half the match. This shouldn’t be acceptable.

The tercera was easily the best of the first half. It moved much better than the earlier matches and everyone looked relatively professional. Cancerbero did blow the monkey flip escape but it was balanced out by Pegasso looking smooth. Stigma and Okumura remain a badly mixed pair, with Stigma kicking Okumura right in the head on the match ending dive. Stigma did look better as a partner for Pegasso than he normally does.

Espanto seemed to hurt his leg kicking midway during the match, which is about right for him. That derailed the end of the second fall a bit, though it’s not like they were onto something great. Espanto could barely move when he came back in for the third and probably should’ve just stayed out. He didn’t do Arkalis any favors by not being able to get in the right place for his clothesline. But Espanto was getting to win so why would he leave the match?

Bengala is better at drawing in the crowd better than most of the CMLL roster. He gets a reaction simply from by high stepping after a leapfrog. It’s the piece Leono never got; he looks going through the motions here more than ever. Inquisidor has a clumsily moment on the second fall finish, not his first. The third fall comes of as if they were told they had to finish immediately and got it done in 20 seconds.
