CMLL promos: Dalys, Princesa Sugehit, and Forastero & Caristico. Dalys & Sugehit are building up their title matches; the luchadoras may not get many more Friday night chances to do so with all the tournament shows between now and Homenaje a Dos Leyendas.
Press interviews: Caristico & Forastero.
The tournament was the best part of the show, easily. The final was the best match, but the Bandido/UG matches were all fun. Maybe skip the first match (Maya tried but he didn’t have a good partner) and watch the rest. Caristico & Forastero don’t seem like overwhelming favorites. CMLL has to do the Caristico/Bandido match at some point.
Rossy Moreno announced her retirement from lucha libre Friday night at Producciones TC’s Arena Naucalpan. +Lucha had mentioned recently Moreno had been struggling with injuries and was considering retirement. Her last known match was on the October Queretaro Nacion Lucha Libre taping. She had been wrestling since 1978, with stints in both CMLL and AAA.
LA Park defeated Eddie Kingston in Revolution Pro, in a very LA Park sounding match.
Ring of Honor announced Flamita suffered an injury on last Sunday’s show and will be missing his matches through the end of the month.
The Lucha Memes Battle of Tijuas tournament takes place today. Generacion XXI is scheduled to run their first show since their owner died; +Lucha is still mentioning the show and the building is still hyping the show but the promotion hasn’t said much. Martinez Entertainment has a typically busy show. Warrior Wrestling has Cavernario vs Templario and Aramis & Taurus in a multiman main event that’s changed a couple of times due to injuries already. That show will air on FITE.
Sunday has Bandido in Arena Naucalpan and Shun Sky Walker versus Super Nova.
04/04 WrestleCon Worldwide show
- Arez (c) vs Carlos Romo for the RIOT Championship
- Caveman Ugg vs Barbaro Cavernario
- Black Taurus vs Michael Elgin – new
Welcome to My Barrio is moving their shows to Saturday 5pm this season. They had running Monday nights, an uncommon time.
Lineups
CMLL (FRI) 02/21/2020 Arena México
1) Magnus & Retro vs Akuma & Espanto Jr.
2) Marcela, Mystique, Sanely vs Dalys, Metálica, Reyna Isis
3) Blue Panther Jr. vs Vangellys [lightning]
4) Carístico, Diamante Azul, Titán vs Ephesto, Mephisto, Terrible
5) Cavernario & Volador Jr. vs Blue Panther & Fuerza Guerrera and Ángel de Oro & Sansón and Atlantis Jr. & Negro Casas and Cuatrero & Valiente and Gran Guerrero & Stuka Jr. and Soberano Jr. & Templario and Espíritu Negro & Rey Cometa [torneo nacional increible]
The teams always appear to be listed in CMLL’s order of star power, so it’s quite a statement on the regular luchadors that the Panther/Guerrera team is a bigger deal than almost all of them. Panther & Guerrera are not advancing. Volador/Cavernario are the favorites; if they do go all the way, we can start to speculate about that being the Aniversario final too. Atlantis/Casas and Soberano/Templario are fun alternatives. CMLL avoided NGD vs NGD tournament finals so far.
There doesn’t seem to be any great need for a lightning match on this card but there’s one anyway.
AAA TV (SAT) 03/07/2020 Plaza de Toros, Cancún, Quintana Roo
1) Big Mami, Mr. Iguana, Octagoncito vs Australian Suicide, Parkita Negra, Vanilla
2) Dinastía, Lady Shani, Niño Hamburguesa vs Keyra, Lady Maravilla, Villano III Jr.
3) Hijo de LA Park & LA Park Jr. vs Carta Brava Jr. & Mocho Cota Jr.
4) Hijo Del Vikingo, Myzteziz Jr., Octagón Jr. vs La Hiedra, Rey Escorpión, Texano Jr.
5) Drago, Fénix, Pentagón Jr. vs Averno, Chessman, Súper Fly
6) Blue Demon Jr., Laredo Kid, Psycho Clown vs La Bestia Del Ring, LA Park, Rush Toro Blanco
This follows next weekend’s Guadalajara show, but has some of the same ideas. It’s a Saturday night show at eight pm CT with a Los Ingobernables main event. Blue Demon opposes them for the first time after they attacked him back on Guerra de Titanes. Fenix & Pentagon move down to face the OGTs. The fourth match is a trios title preview (though with Hiedra instead of Taurus.)
This is another all tag match. The next taping is Rey De Reyes on 03/21, which should break that pattern up.
