La Parka, CMLL weekend results, MexaSquad new ROH trios champs

La Parka

A wake for La Parka was held in Hermosillo Sunday. He will be cremated on Monday.

Karis La Momia Jr. gave an interview to Azteca talking about his father’s death. He mentions there were plans was for him to become La Parka Jr. and team with his father before he would retire.

Tirantes told a story about Parka’s early days. He notes Parka started as an exotico in AAA (Bello Sexy), then was switched to Karis La Momia. He forgot he was doing a new gimmick and started doing the exotico spots as Karis La Momia, which caught Antonio Pena’s attention as a guy who could be charismatic while wearing a mask.

AAA has a memorial video.

CMLL acknowledged La Parka’s passing. It’s unusual for CMLL to acknowledge someone who was a star for an opposing promotion.

Estrellas del Ring has an interview with a distraught Cibernetico.

I appreciate CMLL keeping the latest Mephisto vs Volador to the show I can not see. Virus also talked his win.

straight falls, Gran Guerrero tossing his mask to Diamante Azul to set up a match this time.

Same people as Friday night, same two falls as Friday night, same finish as Friday night. Perhaps the same promos by Gran Guerrero and his victim to set up a singles match but I swear I will never find out. Polvora also talks about his win.

Atlantis posted a photo of himself in a ring so maybe we’ll see him in the ring again at some point?

Rey Horus, Flamita and Bandido are now the ROH Trios Champions, winning the titles on Saturday night in Atlanta. The trios is now going as Mexa Squad, possibly to make it less confusing when there’s been a LifeBlood around. (It’s unclear if they’ve completely decided on this name though.) They didn’t fare as well Sunday, with Horus winning but Flamita & Bandido losing. Dragon Lee, Rush and Kenny King won their first match as a unit on Sunday. Rush’s title challenge against PCO went to no-finish, while Dragon Lee successfully defended his TV title on Saturday.

Puma King & Drago won the advertised three-way tag match on the MLW show Saturday night. Drago & Aerostar lost in title matches earlier on the show; neither of those sound like they went well. Low Rider replaced Hijo de LA Park in the tag match, so the Parks still haven’t been back in MLW since the November PPV. Could be nothing, but that strange Park interview where he said he didn’t know when he would be coming back seems less storyline now. Low Rider managed to work the Impact show and MLW on the same night.

Dr. Landru mentioned StrongHearts’ CIMA, Lindaman and T-Hawk would be coming to IWRG on 01/19, 01/26 and 02/09. CIMA’s announced for MLW on 02/01, so that explains the missing weekend. Shun Skywalker being on the same shows as those guys might be awkward; there are strained relations between that group and the Dragon Gate roster.

Brian Cage has reportedly gone from Impact to AEW. He appeared in AAA just a handful of times in 2019, and this move wouldn’t seem to affect his status. AAA’s been pushing the Impact tapings next weekend in Mexico City and Cage was left off the list of people appearing, so Impact probably knew he was leaving for a while.
