This was another CMLL show with about one good match. The one good match was that semi-main, and it was well worth watching. CMLL would probably be better if they were putting Hechicero (and Templario) in some of these main events, but maybe we wouldn’t be getting these matches.

Ring of Honor announced they’ve signed Bandido to a new contract. The word going around was ROH & Bandido were talking about a two-year deal this time, though I’m not 100% certain if that’s what ended up being signed. Bandido had offers from everyone once again and considered going out of contract and just working some ROH dates in addition to indies – similar to what Jeff Cobb’s apparently doing. He did sign with ROH, but he may have gotten a bit more freedom to work some additional US dates in the bargaining. This ROH doesn’t affect his CMLL status, though I’d guess everyone’s happy with him working both promotions. I’d expect we’ll see a lot more MexaBlood to come.
ROH has two shows this weekend

- Rush vs PCO (c) [ROH WORLD]
- Dragon Lee (c) vs Andrew Everett [ROH TV]
- Bandido, Flamita, Rey Hours vs Marty Scurll, Flip Gordon, Brody King
01/12 6 pm CT start time
- Rush, Kenny King, Dragon Lee vs Marty Scurll, PCO, Brody King [ROH TRIOS]

- Rey Horus vs Andrew Everett
MLW is taping today in Dallas with Aerostar challenging Hammerstone for the National Championship, Septimo Dragon vs Gino Medina and Drago & Puma King vs Hijo de LA Park & Taurus vs Injustice. It’s a rare US show to have Hijo de LA Park booked and not LA Park. This is the (re)start of AAA/MLW collaboration. AAA wrestlers are scheduled for next week’s Impact taping as well, so it might be interesting to see the different ways they’re used or if there’s some divvying up of talent.
Another slow weekend of shows. There’s scheduled to be a big show in Acapulco, though it has the lineup of a show that’d make me double-check it was still happening before making the trip. IWRG has Shun Skywalker’s debut.
Hahastary says her long-term goal is to make it to Japan, and she’d like to be known as one of the best in the indies and AAA too.
Segunda Caida’s recent reviews includes an Eddie Guerrero match from Ciudad Juarez.
Lineups
CMLL (FRI) 01/17/2020 Arena México
1) Retro & Robin vs Akuma & Espanto Jr.
2) Avispa Dorada, Marcela, Princesa Sugehit vs Amapola, Metálica, Tiffany
3) Black Panther, Blue Panther, Blue Panther Jr. vs Espíritu Negro, Pólvora, Vangellys
4) Rey Cometa vs Templario [lightning]
5) Atlantis Jr., Kráneo, Valiente vs Ephesto, Mephisto, Rey Bucanero
6) Diamante Azul, Místico, Volador Jr. vs Gran Guerrero, Shocker, Terrible
The main event continues to Mistico/Gran Guerrero. The third match seems like it’ll keep Blue Panther/Vangellys going. Both are odd matches to be setting up for the Mr. Niebla tribute show on 01/24. Mistico’s going to be booed out of the building in a big match on that show.
Cometa/Templario looks really good.
