Not a strong turnout here. Not a lot of Dia de Los Reyes shows stuff in general; maybe people rightly thought it wouldn’t be as big this year? I’m lost as to why, though the low turnout here may have been just following an all cage match show with a normal show and Puma. The main event was said to be good.
CMLL finishes the holiday run tonight in Arena Puebla. Today is the actually Dia de los Reyes, though I’m not sure how much of a factor that’ll be on a 9 pm Monday night show. Tonight’s main event has Caristico, Diamante Azul and Negro Casas taking on Euforia, Titan and Ultimo Guerrero in a relevos increibles match. That usually is the set up to a title match next week but everyone besides Azul & Casas are in Japan next week. It may just be a mixed up match out of boredom.
Kawato San & Dulce Gardenia have one last match before Dulce takes off for Japan. Kraneo and Volcano team with Dulce. Volcano’s disappeared from streams, with just one appearance last month. They face Kawato, Mephisto and Ephesto. The new trio of Ola Negra (Akuma, Espanto Jr., and Espiritu Negro) take on Drone, Esfinge and Principe Diamante in another 01/01 rematch. The segunda match is a mix of minis and locals. The opener is all locals. The show is at 9 pm and will stream on CMLL’s YouTube as normal.
NJPW has a press conference tonight at midnight CT. That’ll be about the New Beginning shows, but NJPW will likely release the FantasticaMania lineups around then.
There’s a benefit show for Discovery on 01/19 in Villa Park. He’s having health problems.
ROH is running a free show on 02/09 (Sunday, 2 pm CT) in Baltimore w/Mexablood vs The Briscoes. Rush & Dragon Lee are announced. It’s free to attend. It seems a decent chance at least some of it will be streamed for free.
TJP announced matches for the first third of the year. He’s on the Impact Mexico tapings on 01/17 and 01/18, which is no surprise. TJP also lists Impact tapings in Mexico on 04/24 and 04/25, which have not yet been announced.
Angel Garza did a round of interviews while back in Mexico during the holiday break. In one with ReporteIndigo, Garza says his 2020 goal is to be the face of NXT on a show in Mexico. No show has been set yet, at least as far as Garza seems to know, but that’s his dream. WWE’s only running two shows in Mexico per year recently through a local promoter, which would seemingly also own the rights to any NXT shows in Mexico.
Lineups

5) Kráneo, Rey Cometa, Volcano vs Felino, Máscara Año 2000, Pólvora

Astro versus Virus sounds like a fun match we won’t see.
IWRG (SUN) 01/12/2020 Arena Naucalpan
1) Biosfera, Dinámico, Spider Fly vs Canival King, Noicy Boy, Voltrex
2) Eragón, Legendario, Puma de Oro vs Hip Hop Man, Marado, Mosca
3) Avisman & Black Dragón vs Death Metal & Fulgor I
4) Diva Salvaje, Jessy Ventura, Pasion Cristal vs Ave Rex, Ra-Zhata, Shil-Kha
5) Alas de Oro & Alas De Plata vs Fly Star & Lunatik Xtreme
6) Fuerza Guerrera NG, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Relámpago vs Capo del Norte, Demonio Infernal, Shun Skywalker
Shun Skywalker makes his debut. Any indie foreign wrestler staying in Mexico for a while ends up in Arena Naucalpan – hey Hip Hop Man, La Mosca & Ave Rex – but Dr. Landru says Skywalker will be around for six months. I’d suspect he’ll be working PALL affiliated indies too. There doesn’t seem to be any great Dragon Gate following in Mexico, even with the cross-pollination, but Skywalker will probably end up being in demand if he does as well Mexico as he’s done in Japan.
Not that they’re booking him big to start. That main event seems to continue not-Imposible vs Demonio Infernal. The opener is the crazy kids.
