There weren’t high expectations for this show but it still seems like it disappointed. No major angle on the show, just yet another Friday night just because they were obligated to have one.
In Ring of Honor, Dragon Lee won the TV championship but Rush lost the World Championship at Final Battle. I haven’t gotten to see the show yet but the Rush/PCO match seemed heavily panned on twitter last night.
At Warrior Wrestling, Black Taurus defeated Gringo Loco in the lucha fiveway, which was pretty good. Templario ended up facing Jake Lander in the opener. Templario looked more dominant than usual, and seemingly a bit because he and Lander were having trouble getting on the same page about the more complicated tecnico spots. Still, it ended up making Templario look like a killer, which might work better with non-lucha audiences. Templario got pulled from the Impact X Championship four-way by CMLL because of the Impact title – and then Ace Austin didn’t even have the Impact title.
Guerra de Titanes is tonight. The show has an 8 pm listed start time. It’ll likely be close to three hours. I wrote a preview on Voices of Wrestling and kind of expect that the card has changed already. AAA, and this card, is overloaded with talent, and it’s mostly about finding enough space to showcase it and not exhausting the audience along the way. I expect Lady Maravilla versus Big Mami to get big crowd reactions, but it’s also a match that doesn’t need to go more than ten minutes to be effective. The best matches on the show may come early on, and the main event may just be about teasing a direction for 2020. It’d be nice to end the show with a declared return date for 2020, but that’s not usually AAA’s style.
Lucha Central also has a preview of Guerra de Titanes.
The top rope broke in a match with Murder Clown, Averno, and Chessman last night. Everyone finished the match. The scheduled tag team title main event didn’t happen because Fenix didn’t make it to the show. Hope he makes it today.
Furia de Titanes interviews Big Mami, who reveals her recent magician outfit was in tribute to her father, who wrestled as Mago Fantasma.
