CMLL (MON) 10/28/2019 Arena Puebla [CMLL, Lucha Central]
1) King Jaguar, Magia Blanca, Meyer b Ares, Centella Roja, Joker
tecnicos took 1/3
2) Black Tiger, Fuerza Chicana, Policeman b Asturiano, Halcón Suriano Jr., Robin
Rudos took 2/3. Asturiano suffered an injury on Fuerza Chicana’ finishing slingshot into the middle rope
3) Star Jr. b El Perverso [lightning]
4) Dulce Gardenia, Flyer, Stigma b Máscara Año 2000, Okumura, Olímpico
Tecnicos took 1/3.
5) Ephesto, Hechicero, Mephisto DQ Ángel de Oro, Niebla Roja, Soberano Jr.
Tecnicos took 1/3, the last when Mephisto fouled Angel de Oro after feuding all match. Hechicero replaced Negro Casas.
6) Místico b Forastero
Mistico took 2/3.
The main event doesn’t sound like much. Perhaps an Angel de Oro/Mephisto match coming. Asturiano says he was a little hurt but it doesn’t seem anything serious.
It’s unclear why Negro Casas is missing shows – he’s off Friday as well. I’d guess it was an injury, but he did wrestle on Sunday night in Monterrey. It is now clear why Mr. Niebla is missing shows: he posted a hospital photo on Facebook, saying he’s dealing with an infection. He originally suffered an elbow injury three months ago, his shoulder started to hurt as well, the CMLL doctor insisted on him getting it checked out, and doctors found damaged joints. The unstated bit is many people assume any Mr. Niebla absence is the result of his alcohol issues and Niebla wants it clear that wasn’t the case this time.
Cuadrilatero TV notes this is part of a run of injuries this weekend. IWRG’s Shalom broke an ankle. AAA’s La Parkita won’t be seen for a while, because he broke his tibia. I haven’t been able to find that one. Crazy King (of DTU)’s elbow injury looks like it will require surgery.
Gilbert el Boricua is also off Friday’s show. Mephisto & Cavernario step in for Gilbert and Casas. Gilbert was definitely trying to work a feud with Ultimo Guerrero and UG seemed to be ignoring it. It seemed like maybe it was the slow build to something, but I guess it could be Gilbert doing something with permission. CMLL’s policy of not explaining why people are of the show has unintended side effects, like fans believing Niebla got into trouble, and people are going to be left wondering if Gilbert ran afoul of the wrong man without any other explanation. Not that explanations are always believable either.
There’s a little more meaning to tonight’s CMLL Arena Mexico show than usual for a Tuesday night. The semi-main is the Rey del Inframundo cibernetico, the winner to challenge Sanson for the championship on Friday. It would be the biggest CMLL match of the year for most everyone involved, which is also why most of the people involved have no chance of getting it. Sanson did face fellow Templario last year, but a high profile Friday singles match against Polvora, Virus, Disturbio, Universo 2000 Jr. and Tiger seems unlikely. Black Panther spent last Wednesday telling media that he thinks he needs to turn rudo, which was a savvier way to say the same as Fuego did last year – “I’m stuck in the same place and I need to do something different.” He can’t be thinking he’s winning this. Dulce Gardenia seems like the favorite, based off heavily CMLL’s gotten behind the character, though matches with Sanson against Audaz or Star Jr. or even Rey Cometa would probably be just as good. It’s tough to imagine Cometa getting that chance and last week’s “showcase” didn’t seem to be setting up Star for more things. It’s likely Audaz or Dulce and it’s probably Dulce.
The actual main event on Tuesday’s card is Soberano, Stuka, and Valiente vs Cuatrero, Forastero and Rey Bucanero. That seemed to be build up Stuka & Bucanero for a title match. Blue Panther Jr. didn’t make the Rey del Inframundo field. His brother did, so Panther Jr. will be teaming with two of usual third wheels (Maya & Stigma) instead of one versus Raziel, Dark Magic and Vangellys. The minis get a trios match and the opener includes people who you’re only vaguely aware still work here.
The show starts at 7:30 pm locally, which is one hour later than usual because of the DST change.
Guadalajara has Angel de Oro & Niebla Roja teaming with Diamante Azul against the Guerreros.
Super Astro Jr. is a multi-talented person. Wrestling is his first love, but he worked first as an auto mechanic and later as a physiotherapist. He is also a third baseman in a baseball league, having played since he was young.
Ring of Honor has announced their 11/09 & 11/10 Texas dates are rescheduled to next June. These Texas shows typically include CMLL wrestlers and I believe had already announced Dragon Lee in addition to Rush. (It didn’t sound like ROH yet.) They’ve got replacement dates announced, which happens when a promotion actually plans on running a show they’ve postponed. “Operational conflict” was the vague explanation given. The crowds for last week’s ROH shows in UK were small, as they’ve been often of late. Rush as ROH champion in Texas with a heavy Latino population seems like it should’ve been a good mix but hasn’t changed ROH’s fortune. ROH runs this weekend and is off until their year closing shows in the mid of December. That leaves Rush has plenty of time to work in Mexico. It probably means more KAOZ level shows than AAA right away.
The OTT show with the Lucha Brothers and Rebelion Amarilla sold out in two days.
AAA has a show as a part of this weekend’s MorbidoFest in Mexico City. AAA’s talked a lot about this in the past and not much this year.
SuperLuchas’ Campal column mentions Rey Dinamico surprised Chik Tormenta with a marriage proposal at a show this past week. She said yes.
Former Lucha Underground head writer (and clandestine AAA writer while Vampiro was in charge) Chris DeJospeh is joining MLW, starting with this weekend’s PPV.
Rey Mysterio named Fenix, Penta, Rush, and Psycho Clown as the people he’d like to see in WWE. I guess it’s interesting Dragon Lee didn’t come up, though Mysterio usually just says whichever names are on the top of his head.
LuchaCentral has a story on ghosts that inhabit Arena Mexico & Arena Coliseo. There are a lot more circus-related deaths in that building than I would’ve guessed.
Golden Fenix was unmasked in Torreon’s Arena Colon. He’s Felipe Cordero Gomez, 20 years old, 4 years a wrestler, from Ciudad Acuna in Coahuila.
+LuchaTV has this week’s podcast.
LuchaWorld has this week’s Poster-Mania.

I wonder if Negro Casas is missing shows because of that brutal German suplex he took from Diamante Azul last Friday. It looked like he hit his head or face with his own knee when he was slammed. And maybe the Monterey gig was paying him a good amount that he didn’t want to miss that one. I don’t know, just speculating.
Diamante Azul needs to go away already.
Mesias should be in mlw/crash/iwa
