Caristico tells Forastero not to mess with his mask again. Blue Panther celebrates his Aniversario.

Box Y Lucha has a post-match interview with Caristico, La Jarochita, Mephisto, La Comandante (who is sticking with Terrible), and Forastero.

Main event sounds like it was about the same level as UG/Mistico the night before. Princesa Sugehit better actually be returning this weekend, because the tecnicas are going to get zero wins without her or Marcela on their team.

CMLL (TUE) 10/08/2019 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [CMLL]

Tecnicos took 2/3, Bucanero fouling Niebla Roja.
5) Volador Jr. b Cavernario
Volador took falls 2/3.

Please don’t do a Rey Bucanoer/Niebla Roja match. I wonder if Fugaz has been kept over in Mexico City to prepare for the Gran Alternativa final. Cavernario probably should win in his hometown and the hegemony at the top of CMLL is part of the reason is currently boring. (Link to a dictionary definition of hegemony to be helpful.)

NJPW announced Titan & Volador Jr. for their Super Junior Tag League. This tournament was originally supposed to include Titan & Dragon Lee. Volador is replacing Dragon Lee as a result of CMLL cutting ties with him.

Dragon Lee seemed to be under the impression he would still be in NJPW. NJPW is going with an all CMLL team. It is just one tour, and perhaps Dragon Lee will be back later. The concept of “later” is the problem; maybe he will return as part of the January Tokyo dome shows? Could he be gone all the way until around the Best of Super Juniors in 2020? May is a long way away, even January seems a long way away when Dragon Lee probably has deals with other promotions available for him. (Looming over all of this is Dragon Lee mentioning at the press conference that he would have a big surprise soon; if it’s not a NJPW deal, it would have to be a deal that would make it unlikely for him to return to the promotion in the short term. Or he could’ve just been saying something at a press conference.)

On the other side, if NJPW & CMLL remain on good enough terms to put Volador in Dragon Lee’s place, it is likely FantasticaMania is still happening as normal. We’ll probably hear about it in the next couple of weeks.

CMLL probably knew Volador & Titan were the team when they announced Titan for CMLL Informa a couple of days ago. Pegasso is also on the list, and I’m not sure what he would have to talk about with no title matches or tournament appearances. CMLL will probably mention it sometime this weekend.

Sofia Alonso appeared a Mexico City Dia de Muertos tourism announcement, saying 20 luchadors would be part of the parade on a TuriLuchas bus.

This past week’s ROH TV show covers the Global Wars Espectacular tour with CMLL. There has been no mention of it by CMLL. It could just be them not bothering like always, but I suspect they’re not going to mention anything where Rush is involved, even with a partner.

An interview with Violento Jack mentions his Japan work visa runs thru June. He most likely will renew it, but I sort of read that as he’ll be out of Mexico until summer.

AAA/EMW 10/25 lineup

That’s probably it.

GCW announced Arez for their 11/08 show in Los Angeles. That’s his first match for the promotion since the outstanding trios match on All In weekend.

Riot has launched their own website.

What happened:

Forastero pulled Caristico’s mask to get the win in straight falls, setting up a singles match next week.

Bengala was actually counted out in the first fall of the opener after taking a dropkick. Apocalipsis too was counted out in the third after a Bengala tornillo pescado.

Thoughts:

Audaz

The main event was two falls, but they gave it a good amount of time, working in the usual Tuesday big spot format around it. Forastero and Caristico exchanging real near falls before the inevitable controversial finish was more thought than the usual rushed ending.

Virus/Audaz didn’t really come together. Virus led a more mat-based focus of the match for the first five minutes. Audaz didn’t impress in the concept and the crowd got restless. Audaz followed with two highspots, which didn’t really make sense in the context and just seemed to exist to get people back into it. The back and forth followed was ok and rarely better with that; Audaz still hasn’t developed the singles offense he needs to make these matches work. It’s a place where Soberano is far ahead of him.

The tercera was a generic match seen a hundred times. The corwd dug it, third fall had a bit more to it than it seemed at first, it still didn’t rise to anything notable above those many previous matches.

I’m presuming the all veteran opener on Nuevo Valores was a knockoff effect of the prelim guys being in the Gran Alterantiva. Still, there should be an unlimited amount of trainees in CMLL to fill these spots. Anything in 2019 where Leono is the youngest guy serves little purpose. Bengala probably should’ve saved his one dive in Arena Mexico this year for a bigger purpose.
