The results for the foreigners on this trip
- lost on Monday in Puebla
- lost on Tuesday in Guadalajara
- lost on Friday in Arena Mexico
- lost on Saturday in Arena Coliseo
- lost on Sunday in Arena Mexico (two matches)
That’s interesting way to use people you’ve brought in. The foreigners did visit the pyramids. Every foreigner to Mexico City has visited the pyramids but me and now I’m never going to do it just to keep it that way.
Matt Taven says he’ll be back. That would seem to be in doubt if he takes his option to leave Ring of Honor, though I guess he doesn’t say he’ll be back in CMLL.
IWRG (SUN) 09/01/2019 Arena Naucalpan [+LuchaTV, The Gladiatores]

Hechicero was about to win but accidentally unmasked Canis Lupus. The secondary referee (after the first one was taken out by a dive) called the DQ.
Dragon Bane & Hijo de Canis Lupus are going to NOAH in November. This part of a new partnership between IWRG & NOAH. I believe it was first announced on IWRG’s Revolucionarios en Accion talk show Sunday (22:50). Nosawa is apparently the booker of NOAH now (I had no idea! how weird!) and so that’s who the deal was made with. Nosawa is also now vice president of IWRG Japan and there will be a November press conference to set up PALL Japan. I’m not really sure what any of that part means in practice except the Morenos are really serious about this PALL alliance. I don’t understand the endpoint but the road to wherever this is all going has Dragon Bane & Hijo de Canis Lupus debuting in NOAH sometime in November and IWRG trainees coming to IWRG for six month training stints in the future. NOAH previously had a vague alliance with AAA, though that was multiple ownerships and bookers in the past by now.
LA Park & Blue Demon Jr. defeated Psycho Clown & Dr. Wagner Junior via DQ (foul) in Arnea Lopez Mateos. The building looked pack. Karis La Momia Jr. & Hijo del Silver King had their official debuts (though it’s possible they may have wrested on previously.) Karis La Momia Jr. has been given an introduction as La Parka’s son, though there’s no real info on the new Silver King. Previous “Silver King Jr.”s were not actually sons of Silver King so I’m not sure confident this is one is a real son.
The Guerrera beat the Octagons in the main event of the (Juventud Guerrera-promoted) Super X show. A Dragon Bane/Aramis match was advertised but doesn’t appear in the +LuchaTV results.
On Sunday, Bandido beat Flamita in the Lucha Libre Vanguardia/Dragon Gate Mexico debut show. It looked like it drew well, so there might be a second show. The Jimmy/Aramis match didn’t happen, with Aramis beating Low Rider & Kalibus instead.
In Guadalajara, Leon Blanco unmasked Neutron in their main event, as part of a continuing mask feud. That’s probably their 09/16 main event. The arena is teasing some announcement about their Sunday shows.
Fenix & Pentagon Jr. won the AAA World Tag Team Championship back at AEW’s All Out from the Young Bucks in a ladder match. The match was good, you really should go see it. After the show, the Bucks announced that’d be it for the AAA titles in AEW, as they’d solely be focusing on their own championships in that promotion. The AAA tag titles were always just something to get AEW thru pre-TV PPVs while helping the alliance between two promotions. I’m not sure what happens to the AAA Tag Team titles next; the idea seems to be that Fenix & Penta will be around AAA more, but we’ll have to wait to see if that occurs. Even if they are around, AAA is never in a hurry to book title matches.
Faby Apache was also in the Women’s Casino Battle Royal to open the show, though she was quickly eliminated. It was symbolic significant to include one of the best women wrestlers in Mexico and the world over the last decade and a half in the crowning of a promotion’s first-ever women’s champion. At the same time, I don’t think anyone who didn’t already knew who Faby Apache learned anything about her from her AEW appearance. That’s true for a lot of AEW acts though. (I think Chris DeJoseph had a good point, though he presented in a way that no one was going to agree with him. And I’m not sure anyone is going to agree with me either so moving right along.)
Goya Kong announced she is leaving AAA in a YouTube video. She’s thankful for to AAA and is just looking for other experiences as an independent. Goya Kong had joined AAA from CMLL in 2016 but had not been used on AAA TV in 21 months. She suffered a bad looking leg injury on the final taping of TV taping of 2017 and did not wrestle again until the very end of July 2018. By that point, Konnan had replaced Vampiro in AAA and Goya does not appear to have fit in his vision of the women’s division. She has been working AAA spot shows for the last year. As long as I’ve been following AAA, there’s always a group of extra people who rarely get used on TV but still work fairly frequently. It’s gone from “rarely” to “pretty much never” this year as AAA has focused more on a smaller group of people, and those extra people seem to be deciding to take their chances as an independent talent rather than work the AAA shows. It’s unlikely CMLL would be open to bringing her back given the recent history between the Alvarados & that promotion.
Astral talks about his own departure from CMLL in El Grafico. He felt he did what they wanted but they didn’t give him an opportunity to advance and he had to move on. On the other hand, going to the independents feels like starting from scratch, trying to make his name all over again in front of a crowd who doesn’t even know he left CMLL.
A documentary on Perro Aguayo is expected to be released in the first half of 2020. This interview says it has been in process for a year and a half, so it’s not just a reaction to him passing away; I guess the bit that aired during TripleMania was a bit of a teaser.
Estadio Deportes has a story on CMLL edecan Yazmin that’s actually just “here are some photos of Yazmin from Instagram we liked.”
LuchaWorld has Sunday’s news update and this week’s Poster-Mania.
