Volador cheats Cavernario, Dragon Lee doesn’t face UG, AAA Colombia

I’m heading to Los Angeles for PWG’s BOLA tournament for the next few days. I think I’m still going to be posting news, but the schedule may be off. Don’t count on a CMLL stream Friday.

6) Volador Jr. DQ Cavernario LUCHA LIBRE MARTES DE NUEVOS VALORES EN LA ARENA MEXICO 17 DE SEPTIEMBRE DE 2019 FUNCION COMPLETA (posted by VideosOficialesCMLL)
straight falls, Volador faking a foul in the second.

Volador/Cavernario seems more about building up the cage match than having a memorable match of their own. The other matches weren’t as a big deal.

Los Cancerberos would like to team more. Barbaro Cavernario is angry about the main event.

The minis match is a good occasion to point out Mercurio finished up here back on 08/27. It was apparently his decision, having found non-wrestling work elsewhere. It is possible he’ll be back but not a certainty. That would seem to open up a spot for another mini rudo, but Pierrothito has started appearing full time more often since then, so maybe that just takes care of it.

CMLL (TUE) 09/17/2019 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [CMLL]
1) Frezzer, Furia Roja, Gran Kenut b Fugaz, Johnny Dinamo, Principe Daniel
Rudos took 2/3. Fugaz returned a couple of days after an injury.

4) Kráneo, Titán, Volcano b Difunto, Pólvora, Rey Bucanero

5) Atlantis, Carístico, Esfinge b Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto
Esfinge replaced Diamante Azul. Tecnicos took 2/3.
6) Último Guerrero b Diamante Azul
Diamante Azul replaced Dragon Lee. UG took 2/3, the last via mask pull.

CMLL was still advertising Dragon Lee in the main event that afternoon. His Instagram story has a photo of a newborn baby. I’m not sure who’s child it is but it seems like a sound reason to miss a wrestling show.

Mascara 2000 announced he would be committed to wrestling 100% thru the end of the year but would wrestle sporadically in 2020. It’s not that the 61-year-old wrestler is looking to retire from the ring, he just needs to focus on his music career. He made this announcement at a performance to promote his new album. Mascara 2000 hasn’t actually wrestled in CMLL in a month. Maybe he’s been in the studio.

TUDN has a story on the CMLL Aniversario show. TUDN is the current name of Univison’s sports network in the US and a technically different one in Mexico. The Mexico one ends with a reminder to watch CMLL on Nu9ve. They’ll surely be airing Aniversario on Saturday. CMLL hasn’t said anything about how they’re handling the live broadcast if they’re handling it at all. They might say something on CMLL Informa today, though that’s earlier than they’ve done of late.

MexaWrestling says their next show (10/05) will be a benefit show for Metaleon. He suffered an arm injury back in June and hasn’t wrestled since then. Metaleon underwent surgery last week, said to be paid for by PALL & IWRG. He’s out the rest of the year, and they’re trying to raise money to replace what he would’ve earned the next few months.

Vampiro has suspended his Go Fund Me campaign, saying the increased amount of wrestling bookings he’s getting now allows him to save money for his operation on his own.

NJPW announced their Super Junior Tag League tournament tour will take place from 10/16 to 11/01. Volador & Soberano participated last year, probably in part because Dragon Lee was in Exatlon. Pencil him down as being in that tour this year.

CMLL Lady’s Ring, the promotion that had the Dalys title match, says their next show is 01/22. That’s about the time NJPW & CMLL runs FantasticaMania. It’s a Wednesday, so there’s probably not a conflict – it may actually be the usual off-day before the Korakuen Hall shows.

The website Debate points out that the Mexico National Day of Lucha Libre and Luchadors is coming up on Saturday. CMLL hyped this a lot when it was announced in 2016 and then not so much the last couple of years. The idea was appeared to be a project of Brazo de Oro and perhaps him (and his family) not being a part of CMLL any more changed things.

TripleMania will begin appearing on AAA’s YouTube channel this week. AAA also posted a Fenix promo hyping the title match with Fenix.

The AAA tour of Colombia has been postponed. It was originally 10/05 & 10/06 and now will take place on November 16 and November 17. The first set of dates conflicted with the Morelia taping, the next set conflicts with the (not yet official) Ciudad Juarez one, so it’s all about the same to AAA. The Soacha building is listed as 2,800 tickets on sale, while Tunja is 692, so these aren’t tough buildings to fill

IWRG has a very complicated list of prices for their annual Castillo del Terror show. This is the show where someone loses their mask in a cage match. It’ll take place on 10/31 this year.

10/05 The Crash in Auditorio de Tijuana

I didn’t get around to posting the MJF match, thinking that must be it and I’d just wait to post the full lineup. And then even more was announced.

LuchaWorld has the latest news update.

El Kongo lost his mask to Fussion in Cuernavaca. Kongo is Sergio Jimenez Ventura, 13 years a wrestler, 4 years a congo.
