mask pulls and fouls cause the referee just to call it a draw so everyone could move on with their life
Small crowd for a benefit show, which is a bit disappointing. Matches 5/6 sounded like they were pretty good. The Traumas have not lost besides by DQ since coming back to Arena Naucalpan and I don’t think that’s changing any time soon.
CMLL announced Jushin Thunder Lyger will have his last match in Mexico at Arena Mexico on Friday 07/19. Lyger is planning on retiring early next January on NJPW’s WrestleKingdom shows. Lyger last appeared in CMLL in 2011, part of extended runs in Mexico in 2010 and 2011. His last match in Arena Mexico was a singles match with Ultimo Guerrero. There’s no word who he will wrestle this time. A singles match with Negro Casas would be great, but CMLL seems more likely to do a trios match to get more people involved.
Lyger is expected to wrestle a few other dates in Mexico in the next month. He was briefly teased for a lucha libre expo before that video was disappeared from the internet. My impression is anyone else who was planning on using Lyger was required to wait for CMLL to make their announcement before they could make any of their own, and so a select few appearances might be announced soon.
Today’s La Planchitas gossip is “here’s something that was posted on Facebook a week ago.” There was a private show at Arena Coliseo Guadalajara with maybe 100 people there. There was a women’s tag scheduled – La Pantera & Chik Tormenta vs Super Estrella & Silueta – but Pantera didn’t make the show for whatever reason. They could’ve had a triangle match, only a messenger on behalf of booker Magnum told Tormenta she was no longer allowed to wrestle because she was working AAA shows. Perhaps because it was a private show with not the usual amount of staff, Tormenta still came to the ring in gear, got the mic by the ring announcer and cut a promo on Magnum for not allowing her to wrestle. That’s in the video on Facebook. CMLL typically doesn’t allow people who appear on AAA TV to appear on their shows, but this was a show just using CMLL’s building in front of a handful of people that no one would’ve known even happened otherwise, and it hadn’t been a problem when they actually booked her for the show.
Planchitas goes on to claim that Magnum – who is referred to as a retired wrestler though he had a match two weeks ago – is taking a bit of pay from the younger Guadalajara wrestlers. He gives them a good payment for their debut and then keeps a part of their payoff going forward as a fee the luchadors pay to keep getting booked. This has been known to happen in other places.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter writes that there are plans to have a “major international match involving AEW talent” on TripleMania. AEW on TripleMania in some form has been a guarantee since the promotions announced they’re working together and will likely go on every year as long as they’re working together. The matches at Rey de Reyes and Verano de Escandalo have been AEW talent vs AEW talent, and I wonder if the TripleMania match will be the same.
In the bigger picture, it is 44 days until TripleMania and AAA has announced exactly 1.5 matches. There’s Blue Demon versus Dr. Wagner Jr. in a mask match. There’s Cain Velazquez versus “we’ll get back to you at some point not sure when” with no one really talking about it since it was announced. That’s all. AAA did promise six main event level matches for TripleMania and we’ve seen only two of them, so maybe there are big drawing matches left to announce. AAA not really announcing anything more for TripleMania does fit the general pattern of the year: AAA focuses heavily on the next big show and only gives the date for the next. (That may mean there’s no lineup for MSG until after TripleMania, and none for LA until after MSG.) TripleMania is now the next big show, so perhaps we should start expecting an unannounced press conference soon.

+LuchaTV had a sit-down interview with Aramis. He mentioned he’s not signed a contract with AAA because finishing school is his focus right now. There’s been an interest in bringing Aramis to the US. He hasn’t been able to go because of school and lack of visa, though he believes he’ll have one in 2-3 months. There are no guarantees when it comes to those visas though.
The latest Vampiro medical update is a slideshow he posted mentioned he has a stroke in November 2018. I honestly can not recall if this is new or old information.
Lucha Central has a profile of Ludark Shaitan.
SuperLuchas has an interview with Laredo Kid about getting a chance in AEW.
Robin & Super Astro Jr. talk about working CMLL openers.
DTU posted an interview with Jimmy. He came up with Jimmy because he wanted an easy to remember name and he knew Jimmy from Jimmy Neutron.
Lineup

3) Ángel Estrella Jr., Cheff Benito, Fireman vs Güero Palma, Guerrero 2000, Kanon

IWRG vs MexaWrestling
6) Dragón Bane & Hijo de Canis Lupus vs Trauma I & Trauma II
I misunderstand which Torneo FILL they were running, but they’re definitely running one. No one can decide of the spelling of the luchador who man be “Shere Khan”. The chance of the main event ending clean is zero.
CMLL (MON) 06/24/2019 Arena Puebla
1) Astro, Meyer, Rey Samuray vs Black Tiger, Guerrero Espacial, Joker
2) King Jaguar, Magia Blanca, Súper Astro Jr. vs El Malayo, El Perverso, Fuerza Chicana
3) Esfinge & Tritón © vs Felino & Tiger [Arena Coliseo TAG]
second defense
4) Kráneo, Soberano Jr., Volcano vs Gran Guerrero, Rey Bucanero, Templario
5) Carístico, Titán, Volador Jr. vs Cuatrero, Forastero, Sansón
Go Team Casas. This is the first time Felino has challenged for this title since it was brought back; we don’t have complete records when Babe Casas may have been a challenger. There’s been a handful of Arena Coliseo Tag Team championship matches outside of Arena Coliseo the last few years, but the title has never changed hands outside of the building.
A main event is a rematch, probably setting up something for 07/01.
