Wednesday’s CMLL Informa saw the official contract signing for the Metalico versus Virus match where both men’s hair and career are on the line. This has been a feud on the last Sunday shows. The surprise is the match itself has been added to the May 31 Juicio Final card. It’ll be third on the card, and a one fall match. I can not recall a CMLL show with three different hair matches. One actual big apuesta match would be a bigger draw than three that haven’t seemed that important, but I’m sure CMLL internally believes they’re going all out on this show.
No one’s said when/where this is airing. I think everyone expects it to air on Marca like usual but CMLL has done weird things with the last two major shows. I’m not sure a lot of people were curious about this show with just the stuff that had been announced before. Virus and Metalico might create more interest. The one consistent part is CMLL’s always put it on their YouTube channel by Saturday morning. Hopefully, CMLL will make the Friday night part clear in advance. It’d be good if live is an option, but “not live” is bearable if someone just says something about ahead of time. If there’s no stream, CMLL should be shouting “no stream Friday, please come to Arena Mexico” in between every fall like all the other plugs starting with tomorrow’s show
AAA’s officially put up the lineups for Queretaro, Monterrey, and Cancun. They have not put up the Merida Verano de Escandalo lineup, which was revealed locally at the same time as the Cancun one. Instead of editing the poster to not list the Young Bucks as champions, AAA’s decided to just pocket it until after Double or Nothing. Jack Evans is still listed as Queretaro.
Pierrothito talks about getting into wrestling, which seems a lot like getting into anything but wrestling for a while before ending up there.
CMLL (SUN) 05/26/2019Arena México
1) Retro & Sangre Imperial vs Cholo & Yago
2) Pegasso, Star Jr., Stigma vs Espanto Jr., Nitro, Sangre Azteca
3) Súper Astro Jr. vs Hijo del Signo [lightning]
4) Atlantis Jr., Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Felino, Hijo del Villano III, Vangellys
5) Carístico, Místico, Soberano Jr. vs Hechicero, Negro Casas, Shocker
6) La Bestia Del Ring, Rush, Terrible vs Cuatrero, Forastero, Sansón
The good Sunday Arena Mexico people don’t get Metalico/Virus but do get, uh, Super Astro vs Hijo del Signo. NGD vs Ingobernables is not one done a lot.
CMLL (SUN) 05/26/2019Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Mandala vs Jabalí
2) Amperaje & Cosmos vs Destello & Relámpago Azul
3) Black Sugar, Fantástico, Tigre Blanco vs Mr. Trueno, Paymon, Rey Trueno
4) Baron Blanco Jr., El Rielero, Vaquero Jr. vs Capitán Cobra, Maléfico, Príncipe Kisho
5) Crixus, Magnum, Metatrón, Paladin vs Difunto, Furia Roja, Gran Kenut, León Blanco
Again, I usually skip posting Sunday’s Guadalajara lineup here because they are mostly names no one knows. This week, it is two names I don’t even know – no one named Paladin or Crixus has wrestled here prior, and they’re in the main event. It is truly a mystery. (In general, they seemed headed to a cage match here soon.)
CMLL (MON) 05/27/2019Arena Puebla
1) Astro, Centella Roja, Meyer vs Espíritu Maligno, Guerrero Espacial, Sombra Diabólika
2) King Jaguar, Star Jr., Tigre Rojo Jr. vs El Perverso, Fuerza Chicana, Nitro
3) El Audaz, Esfinge, Tritón vs Ephesto, Luciferno, Tiger
4) Carístico, Soberano Jr., Valiente vs Cavernario, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
5) Mephisto & Volador Jr. vs Niebla Roja & Terrible [Torneo Increible de Parejas, final]
Mephisto & Volador vs Niebla Roja & Terrible will be solid. 3rd and 4th matches are in the same range.
Soberano might become trios champion because Volador was off one week! Soberano probably isn’t becoming trios champion.
Mexa Wrestling (SAT) 06/08/2019Arena San Juan Pantitlan, Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, Estado de México
1) Calibus vs Príncipe Aéreo, Sobredosis, Black Dragón, Auzter, Sherekan, Baby Star, Torito Negro
2) Centurion, Dinamic Black, Fulgor I, Imposible, Mr. Leo vs Fly Warrior, Murciélago Plateado, Poseidón, The Tiger, Último Maldito
3) Negro Navarro & Solar I vs El Mimo & Toro Negro
4) Jack Evans vs Aramis, Arkángel Divino, Pumita
5) El Diablo & Lady Flammer vs Hija De Gatubela & Metaleón
6) Rey Horus vs Steve Pain
7) Golden Boy & Símbolo vs Trauma I & Trauma II
This show is called God Level and is quite a random collection of matches. I think it’ll be good but it doesn’t particularly feel like a Mexa Wrestling show. The fourth match is subtitled “Purity of Strong Style” and I can not imagine why.
Arez, Monsther Clown, Taurus beat La Parka, Drago, Golden Magic (12:08, Taurus Rodeo Driver Drago, ok, 01:30:10)
Chessman, Rey Escorpión, Texano Jr. beat Dr. Wagner Jr., Pagano, Psycho Clown
(17:44, Chessman chair to the knee Pagano, ok, 01:54:44)
What happened:
Psycho Clown went after the rudos post-match, only to take a spear from Taurus. La Parka, Vikingo, and Myzteziz beat them up. Poder del Norte ran thru the crowd to attack them. The rudos destroyed the tecnicos for an extended period.
La Parka harshly attacked Poder del Norte after their match for attacking his son way back when.
Maravilla seems to hurt her right shoulder during an armbar reversal sequence early on. She tried to wrestle thru it, and Hijo del Tirantes actually left the ring to check on her during the match. Mami ran in post-match to attack Maravilla, once again trying to legdrop and getting Maravilla mostly in the face. Tirantes also got beat up.
Thoughts:
The main event was very ordinary. Two técnico posing bits felt like they were really stretching it up. Pagano finish seemed like a write off if this same bit of him being taken away with a horrible injury didn’t already happen every second match. Chessman had a better night than one before but wasn’t asked to do a lot. Psycho Clown tried but this wasn’t near as good as his match the previous show.
The semi-main had the La Parka match, which was rather not good, and they had everyone else, which had some definite moments. This was hard for me to watch because the framerate was dropping badly at points, but the action was good when it seemed to be moving at a good speed. Golden magic had a great headscissors. Arez got in his suplex when he wasn’t stooging for everyone. Taurus continued to look dangerous to the técnicos and probably should’ve teased a title match. Monster Clown working well with flyers gives some hope to the Aerostar feud if they’re going to do it.
The latest Poder del Norte match was just non stop action, coming off to with the dives off the entrance set and getting better after that. Poder del Norte are doing fewer chair spots ow and making them more effective, which is nice. They’ve also hit their finishing sequence so many times for the certain win, making it surprising when the pin was broken up. Vikingo let Flamita be the one to almost kill himself but still pulled out a few fling spots. The points where the match turned drastically were incredible. This feud continues to be great.
The finish of the exoticos/women match was supposed to be a Maravilla one woman Spanish Fly on Mamba, only Mamba fell down before they could do it. It was that side of match, starting out with the Maravilla arm injury and featuring other messed up looking spots in the middle. Chik Tormenta is the only one who had anything close to a good match. Big Mami’s run-in didn’t help.
Having a pre-match promo changing the opener to a three-way tag and then the wrestlers ignoring it to do the same trios match was so aggressively dumb that it was hard to take the rest of the match seriously. At least if they set up Mami & Hamburgesa splitting up more it may have justified it, but they were more friends than when they started. The camerawork made it hard to figure why Mami didn’t win the match. Hijo del Tirantes is better doing a little and had to do a whole match here. This is not a good use of anyone’s time.
This opener was a trios match than Konnan arbitrarily changed it to a three-way tag match. The referee was a local who didn’t seem to be named, or maybe just a staff guy. He did have what would be normally considered refereeing gear. Lady Maravilla showed up just as the técnicos were going to win.
CMLL (TUE) 05/21/2019Arena México [CMLL, Lucha Central]
1) Leono & Sonic b El Coyote & Grako tecnicos took 2/3
2) Halcón Suriano Jr., Magia Blanca, Oro Jr. b Disturbio, Hijo del Signo, Sangre Azteca tecnicos took 2/3
3) Star Jr. TLDRAW Sagrado [lightning] 10 minute time limit, with both down at the buzzer after a Star Jr. moonsault met Sagrado feet. Sagrado angrily powerbombed Star Jr. afterwards.
4) Blue Panther, El Audaz, Guerrero Maya Jr. b Pólvora, Tiger, Universo 2000 Jr. Tecnicos took 1/3. Money thrown in.
5) Flyer, Kráneo, Rey Cometa b Hechicero, Mephisto, Rey Bucanero Tecnicos took 1/3.
6) La Bestia Del Ring, Rush, Terrible b Ángel de Oro, Atlantis, Niebla Roja [Relevos Increíbles] straight falls, Rush faking a foul from Angel de Oro. Oro loudly demanded a singles match week. Rush accepted and a post match brawl took place.
A much better than usual Tuesday show, with both the lightning match and the fourth match being worth going out of your way to watch. The brawl after the main event went a bit wild.
Rush and Angel de Oro hype a singles match. It would be their first one ever, between two guys who were trios champions together a long time ago. Star Jr. wants a rematch, while Sagrado says already knows he’s better. This seemed like the set-up to a singles rematch but they’ve already got that covered and rarely do twice.
CMLL (TUE) 05/21/2019Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [CMLL]
1) Magnum, Metatrón, Micro b Capitán Cobra, Difunto, Fúnebre tecnicos took 2/3
2) Avispa Dorada, Lluvia, Sanely b La Seductora, Reina Isis, Tiffany tecnicos took 1/3
3) Drone, Fuego, Tritón b Kawato San, Metálico, Olímpico tecnicos took 1/3
4) Místico, Soberano Jr., Valiente ?? Shocker, Templario, Vangellys Esfinge replaced Soberano (moved up). Templario replaced Matt Taven. Rudos won fall 1, tecnicos took 2, no third fall finish mentioned.
5) Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero b Carístico, Soberano Jr., Stuka Jr. Soberano replaced Volador (injury?) Tecnicos took 2/3 to set up a trios title match.
It remains to be seen if Soberano or Volador will be in that trios match. Informa might accidentally be useful if only to scan thru and see if Volador showed up. The rule about putting Euforia & Soberano in the same match seems to be no longer in existence.
IWRG (SUN) 05/26/2019Arena Naucalpan
1) Noicy Boy & Spider Fly vs Cosmic & Vortex
2) Águila Oriental, Ángel Drago, Dinámico vs Biosfera, Galactus, Güero Palma
3) Ángel Estrella Jr., Dranzer, Fireman vs Canival, Guerrero 2000, Matrix Jr.
4) Black Shadow Jr., Leo, Toto vs Kanon, Ra-Zhata, Shil-Kah
5) Chico Che vs Ovett
6) Auzter, Black Dragón, Chef Benito, Chicanito, Death Metal, Latino, Neza Kid, Puma de Oro vs Caballero de Plata, Canibal Jr., Dragón Fly, Guerrero Olímpico, Historico, Imperial Jr., Marado, Mosca [mask, hair, cage]
The main event is Gym FILL (Black Terry) vs Gym Argentino (Hip Hop Man), following up on recent issues. Dragon Fly returning to wrestling and being a focal point of all this might mean doom for him.
That’s about 12 hours of wrestling. That’s an unhealthy amount of wrestling is what it is. Oh well.
I liked a lot of the AAA TV from this group, especially in Nogales. It does suffer a bit from being TV filler, being the set up to something coming (maybe.) The CMLL versus The Crash felt like the complete feud in one match. It helped by CMLL having no plans but being the definitive match is something I value.

2) Pegasso, Stigma, Tritón b El Malayo, Espanto Jr., Toro Bill Jr. tecnicos took 1/3. Triton was having right leg issues.
3) Flyer, King Jaguar, Soberano Jr. b Cavernario, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas Volador (injury) was replaced by Angel de Oro early Monday, but King Jaguar instead ended up in the spot. Peste Negra took 1/3.

The only team with two people who are real rivals made it to the final. Niebla Roja, Terrible, Mephisto and Volador are all announced as appearing on Informa to hype this final, so maybe CMLL will give some idea on what exactly is going on with Volador at the moment.
While Niebla Roja & Terrible are teaming on Mondays, it looks like they’re setting up a singles match on Tuesdays. Terrible defeated Niebla Roja in last week’s main event via foul. They rematch, Los Ingobernables against Roja, Angel de Oro, and Atlantis, again in the main event tonight.
The rest of the card is the usual Tuesday randomness. Flyer, Rey Cometa and Kraneo were picked out of the hat to face Hechicero, Mephisto and Rey Bucanero. Audaz, Guerrero Maya Jr. and Blue Panther, all strangely ranked lower than Flyer, face Polvora, Tiger and Universo 2000. Star Jr. versus Sagrado is the lightning match. Halcon Suriano Jr. makes an appearance in the segunda. The show airs at 7:30 pm on CMLL’s YouTube channel.
Guadalajara has Caristico, Stuka, and Volador versus Los Guerreros as the listed main event, but it seems likely Volador won’t be there. They have Mistico, Soberano Jr., and Valiente versus Matt Taven, Shocker, and Vangellys and there’s no chance Taven is going to be there.
Fuerza Guerrera says he had and Silver King had a conversation about death earlier this year when both were in Japan for the El Santo led shows there. Silver King told Guerrera that he’d rather die in the ring rather than an illness or injury that caused him to be confined to a bed.
+LuchaTV has a short conversation with Juventud Guerrera. He’s asked about his match on the Martinez show and starts talking about Silver King instead. He’s upset with people on YouTube who aren’t luchadors giving their opinions, complains about people promising changes after Perro Aguayo Jr.’s death and those changes only lasting a couple of weeks, and hopes Silver King’s death prompts real change. Guerrera seems like a guy who could really use a break from wrestling for a while.
Blue Demon Jr. is part of a Burger King Mexico marketing campaign for some new burgers. They’re building to an event on May 29th in Mexico City. Blue Demon Jr. is more effective as a marketing device than a luchador, but that’s also why he’s in headlining TripleMania.
Marisela Pena is included in Forbes list of the 100 most important Mexican businesswomen.
AAA TV (SAT) 05/18/2019 Palenque de Tuxtla, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas[AAA, Lucha Central, Record, thecubsfan]
1) Dragón Bane b Golden Magic 5:56. Golden Magic used a flipping powerslam for the win
2) Halcón 78 Jr. & Lady Maravilla b Astrolux & Big Mami 7:43. Maravilla pinned Big Mami after a frogsplash.
3) Myzteziz Jr. & Niño Hamburguesa b Australian Suicide & Chik Tormenta 11:10. Nino Hamburguesa won thanks to Lady Maravilla’s help this time. Big Mami attacked Lady Maravilla but Hamburguesa left with Maravilla. Chik Tormenta took a foot to the face off a bad 450 splash attempt by Myzteziz.
4) La Hiedra & Tessa Blanchard b Faby Apache & Lady Shani 10:40. Tessa Blanchard’s AAA debut. Hijo del Tirantes helped with the rudas.
5) Chessman, Daga, Villano III Jr. b Flamita, Hijo Del Vikingo, Laredo Kid 16:27. Daga beat Vikingo with a double underhook frontcracker.
6) Killer Kross, Rey Escorpión, Texano Jr. b Pagano, Psycho Clown, Puma King 13:23. Made a no DQ match, which mostly just meant cookie pan spots. Chessman sprayed mist in Pagano’s face to set up the win.
The fifth match was the best on the show. The Myzteziz foot to Tormenta’s face looked brutal, but she said she was OK. There’s a segment with Daga & Puma King and a dozen run-ins that I left out there, which primarily seemed to exist to write off the Perros del Mal music and secondarily to keep the Kross/Puma feud going. Chessman blowing mist set up the finish on the next day.
AAA TV (SUN) 05/19/2019 Teatro Al Aire Libre Del Parque Tabasco Dora Maria, Villahermosa, Tabasco [AAA, Lucha Central]
1) Big Mami & Dragón Bane b Halcón 78 Jr. & Lady Maravilla
2) Chik Tormenta, Hijo del Tirantes, Tessa Blanchard b Astrolux, Faby Apache, Niño Hamburguesa
3) Australian Suicide b Villano III Jr., Golden Magic, Flamita, Myzteziz Jr. [AAA LA, #1 Contenders] Australian Suicide gets a shot at Drago at some point.
4) Pagano b Chessman [TLC] Pagano won after Chessman fell backwards off the top rope thru a table, and then an exchange of mist spots.
5) La Hiedra, Rey Escorpión, Texano Jr. b Hijo Del Vikingo, Lady Shani, Laredo Kid
6) Blue Demon, Daga, Killer Kross b La Parka, Psycho Clown, Puma King Demon snuck in a foul on La Parka (missed by the camera)
Both the finish to the main event and the dumb big spot in the TLC match were missed live. Replays showed they had like three different good angles of the table bump; if they just cut to a camera by random, they had a good chance of showing it. (I was not interested in enough to find out if they had a replay of the foul.)
The Mami/Hamburguesa/Maravilla storyline moved along a little bit and maybe Suicide will someday get the title shot he won here. (In a multi-person match for sure, but before or after Chik Tormenta gets hers?) And a bunch of heels questioned why Fenix hasn’t been back to defend the AAA Mega-championship, which is about the second or third time we’ve seen that bit. It makes everyone, Fenix included, look bad when he still doesn’t show up to defend that title.
The creative effort in AAA right now seems limited to re-constructing lineups based on whoever’s actually available for these cards. That can’t be easy given how much that seems to change, but there needs to be more than just matches to be interesting TV. This was the seventh TV taping since Rey de Reyes and I’m hard-pressed to think of significant things that have happened with lasting consequences. Maybe only La Hiedra & Taurus being added to Los Mercenarios, but that seemed less a creative decision and more just filling holes with La Mascara & Hijo del Fantasma gone. AAA running in place is nothing new, but running so many shows in a short time is really showing that weakness. If you’re not subscribing to the Twitch, this is definitely a good time to stay off it and pick and choose what comes up on YouTube.
The turnout wasn’t great this weekend. Sunday’s show seemed like a much too big building, looking about half full. Maybe there aren’t a lot of choices in Villahermosa. The smaller building on Saturyda had bunches of empty seats in the lower bowl. The upper bowl seemed a bit empty from the little bit we could see it. The reason AAA is running all these shows is the promotion and their local partners believing they’d be a draw in different locations based off the AztecaTV. It hasn’t been a clear success but it’s still early in AAA being on Azteca.
CMLL (SAT) 05/18/2019Arena Coliseo [CMLL]

3) Oro Jr. b Príncipe Diamante [lightning] money thrown in
4) Drone, Fuego, Guerrero Maya Jr. b Disturbio, Pólvora, Vangellys tecnicos took 1/3.
5) Hechicero, Luciferno, Rey Bucanero b Kráneo, Soberano Jr., Volcano rudos took 1/3
6) Cuatrero, Forastero, Sansón b Ángel de Oro, Carístico, Niebla Roja NGD took 1/3.
CMLL (SUN) 05/19/2019Arena México [CMLL]
1) Bengala & Leono b Apocalipsis & Príncipe Odín Jr. tecnicos took 2/3.
2) Mercurio, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito b Kaligua, Shockercito, Último Dragóncito rudos took 1/3
3) Hijo del Signo b Robin [lightning]
4) Flyer, Metálico, Pegasso b Dark Magic, Stigma, Virus [Relevos Increíbles] Straight falls. Metalico used the bottom rope to beat Virus. Metalico challenged Virus to a hair vs hair match. Virus raised the stakes to loser must retire. Metalico accepted.
5) Atlantis, Atlantis Jr., Stuka Jr. b El Hijo del Villano III, Negro Casas, Villano IV tecnicos took 1/3
6) Ángel de Oro, Niebla Roja, Soberano Jr. b Cavernario, Rey Bucanero, Terrible tecnicos took 2/3, the last when Cavernario unmasked Soberano (replacing Volador.)
Virus and Metalico backed up their words with promos. CMLL is selling so hard enough that they’ve said Virus is temporarily off the Juicio Final card, since his career may be over by then. “Retirement matches” in lucha libre mean nothing, this will not be the last match either person has, but CMLL is serious enough that it’ll be the last match they’ll have there (at least for a while.) I’d be shocked if it was Virus’ last match. Metalico seems closer to the end of the line, though they’re only really separated by about 11 months in age. Mostly, Virus seems a guy who’s stayed a lot closer to relevance than Metalico the decade or so, and I have trouble believing they’d end Virus’ career on a Sundays show on a two week build. They really shouldn’t be doing it with Metalico either.
I couldn’t be bothered to listen to the Hijo del Signo promo. The semi-main event tecnicos and rudos talk. CMLL won’t let up on doing Atlantis versus Villano matches. If CMLL’s really doing to do a big show every month, I think Villano V is getting a mask match this year.
Volador missed Friday’s show, missed Sunday’s show, and is off tonight’s show in Puebla. Angel de Oro is in. CMLL said Volador had an injury on Friday. No word on what is injured or how long he’ll be gone. Volador & Mephisto are scheduled to face the winner of tonight’s Arena Puebla incredible pairs tournament. Niebla Roja & Terrible seems like the favorite. There’s a bunch of teams (Caristico & Hijo del Villano III, Audaz & Sanson, Atlantis & Vangellys) with one guy who wins these tournaments and another person who does not. It is also an Arena Puebla tournament so it doesn’t really matter.
Flyer, Soberano Jr. & Angel de Oro take on Cavernario, Mr. Niebla and Negro Casas in the semi-main. Triton joins the usual group of locals and opener guys in the first two matches.
There’s actual results for a Kaoz show! Kaoz did not provide them. I provide them here so you might be able to better guess what random belts people are coming to the ring with. The attendance didn’t look great but not as troubling as other recent Monterrey shows.

4) Demonio Infernal b Manchas, Eragón, Shil-Kah, Leo, Fantasma de la Ópera, Apolo Estrada Jr., Dinamic Black, Capo del Norte, Relámpago, Jessy Ventura, Multifacético, Capo del Sur, Canibal Jr., Hijo del Alebrije, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Chico Che, Congo, El Hijo del Medico Asesino, Imposible, Pasion Kristal, Lunatik Xtreme, Fly Warrior, Hijo de Canis Lupus, Zumbi, Séptimo Rayo, Metaleón, Aramis, Trauma I, Ovett, Huracán Ramírez Jr. [Rey del Ring] 31 people in a 30 person match. Eliminations: Eragon, Fantasma de la Opera, Shil-Ka, Leo, Manchas, Dinamic Black, Capo del Norte, Multifacetico, Capo del Sur, Canibal, Apolo Estrada Jr., Medico Asesino Jr., Mascara 2000 Jr., Fly Warrior, Hijo del Alebrije, Imposible, Pasion Kristal, Zumbi, Lunztik Extreme, Septimo Rayo, Ovett, Metaleon, Huracan Ramirez Jr., Trauma I, Aramis, Hijo de Canis Lupus leaving Demonio Infernal as the winner.
Rey de Reyes was the usual bit of weirdness, right down to 31 people in a 30 person match. Your enjoyment of the end is definitely dependent on how many head drops you want to see.
On Instagram, Juventud Guerrera said Silver King was wrestling with a medical issue they didn’t know of at the time of the match. At a press conference Sunday, Silver King’s son, Ulises Gonzalez, said that was not true. He insisted his father was completely healthy, “100% clean”, and said all the paperwork backs that up. Dr. Wagner Jr. also made a point of saying Silver King had “no vices, no drugs.” You can see the full press conference here. Ulises believes his father Silver King would be alive if people acted faster, though he would’ve needed a pacemaker and would be unhappily retired from wrestling. Silver King will be buried Monday.
Fenix & Pentagon won in the main event of Saturday’s Martinez shows near Dallas over Alberto el Patron & Juventud Guerrera. The show seems like it drew pretty well and Alberto praised the Lucha Brothers after the match. Fenix & Pentagon were also supposed to headline the AIW show near Cleveland Friday night, only Penta made it and Fenix never did. AIW’s podcast today was recorded while it was happening; from what we here, Fenix was scheduled to fly out of San Diego, instead said he had been in Guadalajara, and then just stopped returning messages when they tried to book a replacement flight. We don’t know Fenix’s side – he’s been quiet on social media for the last week – but this reflects pretty poorly on him.
LA Park wants an extreme match with Pagano. He disputes those who say he can’t do technical wrestling. Park says he did and it never got him in the first match, and his star started rising once he started dancing.
