Mephisto & Volador advanced in this tournament.
Thoughts:
If you managed to skip this show so far, keep with that. Nothing terrible, nothing to see here.
Seven thoughts about the tournament matches, submitted mostly as proof I actually watched them enough to qualify for “ok (whatever)” grades
-
Shocker and Guerrero Maya went to get back in the ring at the same time. Guerrero Maya hits the ropes and come back with a clothesline before Shocker gets thru the ropes.
-
Flyer/Stigma having to follow Cavernario/Casas is quite unfair. Flyer beating Casas with a casita seems wrong.
-
Mr. Niebla doesn’t really need multiple matches.
-
There’s a 25 second moment here where Mephisto waves in Volador in for a double team, Volador gets there but keeps on walking to tell off one set of fans, turns around but goes past them again to tell off another side of fans, and then finally comes back for the double whip. It does not work out for Volador or for anyone.
-
Flyer didn’t botch anything but still stuck out as just not being on the level as the other guys in his semifinal,
-
Stuka’s boot clearing tope on Volador was the best moment of this bracket.
-
Angel de Oro is so fired up for the final that it seems like he cares about winning this, a rarity. It is the only one of the matches where Mephisto & Volador seem half awake.
