Lucha Brothers & Diamante Azul versus Los Ingobernables tonight in CMLL

Tonight is the first show for CMLL post-Fantastica Mania, so the main event logically includes – just one wrestler who was on the tour? Los Ingobernables (with the returning Terrible) face Diamante Azul, Penta, and Phoenix in tonight’s Arena Mexico. My theory has been the original plan for the last few weeks was Rush repeating his feud with Diamante Azul and shifted to Euforia only due to Azul’s groin injury. Azul returned last week, and he’s back opposite Rush. It is nice for the Lucha Brothers to be back, but it’s not an exciting use of them when one or the other will be working across from Bestia del Ring.

The fourth and fifth have much more Fantastica Mania returns. Caristico & Volador, now back on the same side, team-up with Atlantis against Ultimo Guerrero, Cavernario and Gran Guerrero. Everyone in this match besides Atlantis is a champion and will be part of the Universal tournament beginning next week. The match might be good by itself, as should be Soberano versus Templario.

Titan, Flyer and Audaz would be a fun team if they weren’t facing Shocker, Felino, and Vangellys. Likewise, the Panther kids & Rey Cometa versus Misterioso, Sagrado and Universo 2000 Jr. shows the weakness on the rudo side. Grako & Coyote might be part of the solution, though they need more work. They’ll get some with Oro & Electrico.

The show will air at 8:30 pm on Marca (currently Mexico only) and Facebook (currently Mexico only). I’ll probably stream it on YouTube.

Lucha Central has a preview of the show.

Diamante Azul wants to win the Universal championship. There are people I’d like to win but I don’t see a great favorite so maybe.

Black Panther hopes his feuds with Misterioso & Tiger resolve. I don’t think he’s going to be that lucky.

Hijo del Vikingo is on Impact tonight, facing Rich Swann. All Impact shows stream live fof free on their Twitch channel, starting at 9 pm CT.

02/09 The Crash in Tijuana

02/17 MDA/SuperX in Deportivo de Los Electricistas in Mexico City

The father/son match has been built up (when not meant to be building up) forever, throwing it in a four-way takes the steam off that greatly.

Rush has been added to the 02/09 and 02/10 ROH shows in Florida.

LuchaWorld has the latest news update.

Bryan Danielson wants a mask versus hair match with Gran Metalik.

Caballero Negro Jr. took Crazy Man’s hair.

my favorite Mexican wrestling matches of 2018

2018

I write up a lot of lucha libre shows, write & rate all the matches on those shows that are worth my time, compile it into small lists, and then keep a master list of the best over the course of the year. Perhaps you don’t read this website every single day and you miss some of all that. That’s probably a correct decision, but I can still give you a list of matches I like.

This is just a list of “lucha libre” matches, an anamorphosis distinction that at least doesn’t include NJPW or PWG that might make my top matches of the year overall. It’s in chronological order, not ranked. Links are provided; almost everything is available for free to watch on YouTube right now. I’ve tried to explain each match quickly. It’s possible this all says more about my likes than what are “really” the best matches.

lucha TV preview for weekend of January 25, 2019

full size

CMLL on Marca is the first show of the post-Fantastica Mania run and the last Friday before the Universal tournament takes over. Soberano & Templario should be fun.

AAA on Twitch is back on Saturday night again. Drago is in two matches for some reason. Aerostar gets a main event appearance. Things get destroyed in the middle of the show. AAA on YouTube might be Xalapa, might be best of Xalapa & Cuautilan.

CMLL Puebla has a weird tournament.
