Zeuxis was announced for the Mae Young Classic today. That’s pretty cool.
Zeuxis is a 29-year-old luchadora born in Puerto Rico and living in Mexico City. She has Puerto Rican and Mexican parents and represented the Puerto Rican side of her heritage as a ruda in CMLL. She trained under Negro Navarro at first, and then Satanico when she came to CMLL. She was part of CMLL from 2009 until just a few months ago. She just appeared in TV as part of AAA vs ELITE show, but she’s not signed with anyone is an independent wrestler at the moment. She left with an obvious focus on making it to WWE, and this tournament is the first step.
Zeuxis wrestles a hard star, with knee smashes and head drop slams. Her training with Navarro gives her some lucha submission knowledge, though not a lot of it was seen in CMLL. Zeuxis was a daring flyer earlier in her career, and now mostly sticks to a top rope Spanish Fly for her trickiest move. She uses a package piledriver as her primary finish, and might stick to the double knee smash in WWE. Zeuxis was popularly considered the best women’s wrestler in CMLL at the time she left, though it seemed like her performance peaked with last year’s mask match and declined following until she left the promotion. Leaving CMLL might have been a decision to get in a better mental and physical mindset going into this challenge.
