Cavernario beat up Soberano so badly in the first fall that Soberano couldn’t make it back in before the count, then was DQed for ripping off his mask in the second fall. Soberano took a third fall.

tecnicos took 2/3.

I was paying attention to the other stuff while it was happening, but Soberano/Cavernario looked very good and something you should go out of your way to watch. Cavernario got to be super aggressive for a while even if it was another L for him. Backstage, Soberano said he’d give Caverario a title match if he also agreed to a mask versus hair match. Attendance was way up for this show, which is probably due to spring holidays and made for a loud crowd for the big matches.

Electrico, Astral and Principe Diamante are looking for a team name.

CMLL Homenaje a Dos Leyendas (Cien Caras)
1) Mr. Trueno & Thunder Boy b Black Sugar & Tigre Blanco
Rudos took 2/3.
2) Gran Kenut, Metálico, Príncipe Odín Jr. b Magia Blanca, Príncipe Diamante, Vaquero Jr.
Principe Diamante wore a Cien Caras tribute mask. Rudos took 1/3.
3) Gallito & Microman b Mije & Perico Zakarías
Tecnicos took 2/3. Gallito gets the win in his home building.
4) Audaz, Blue Panther Jr., Star Black b Difunto, Puma, Tiger
Tecnicos took 1/3.
5) Esfinge, Titán, Tritón DQ Cuatrero, Forastero, Sansón
Cien Caras was honored before the match as part of this building’s Homenaje a Dos Leyendas show. Tecnicos took 2/3. NGD were DQed for taking Titan’s mask, and set up a rematch for next week.
6) Carístico, Mistico, Volador Jr. b Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero
Tecnicos took 2/3. Mistico & Volador attacked Caristico after they won, unmasking him.

NGD accepting the rematch does suggest they’re setting up a trios title match here.

+LuchaTV had a post-press conference interview with Mesias, where he says he actually told Vampiro he was quitting before he had his Rey de Reyes match. EMW has updated their lineup for the 04/20 show with a surprise luchador in Mesias’ spot. Vampiro’s still listed as wrestling.

Volador says he’ll give it all against Matt Taven on Friday. If Taven is better, so be it, but he’d like a hair vs hair match if that’s the outcome. Volador feels he’s got a big homefield advantage though and is thinking positive about the outcome.

2) Kaho Kobayashi, Princesa Sugehit, Sanely vs La Comandante, Tiffany, Zeuxis

5) Mistico, Valiente, Volador Jr. © vs Carístico, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero [CMLL TRIOS]
10th defense, first in over a year.

Top couple matches look good. I think they’re really doing an Angel de Oro/Mascara 2000 program here and that is amazing. Policeman exists.

  1. Considering the current issues with the use of the NWA name, is it possible that Taven could actually win the title, and the U.S. could have a lighter weight title to use up here?
