Lady Maravilla, Princesa Sugehit, Sanelybeat Amapola, La Comandante, Reyna Isis (14:55 [7:26, 7:29], straight falls, n/r, via VideosOficialesCMLL)
Pólvorabeat Tigerin a lightning match (9:07, Super Polvora Driver, ok, via VideosOficialesCMLL)
Blue Panther, Blue Panther Jr., The Pantherbeat Johnny Idol, Mephisto, Okumura (12:14 [3:32, 3:34, 5:08], 1/3, ok, via VideosOficialesCMLL)
Diamante Azul, Mistico, Valientebeat Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero (12:14 [3:32, 3:34, 5:08], 2/3, ok, via VideosOficialesCMLL)
What happened:
In the women’s match, Amapola was disqualified for excessive violence in the second fall, including refusing a choke. That’s it.
Thoughts:
Último Guerrero whiffed on the Mistico ramp catch spot, which hasn’t been seen much of late. Maybe he’s out of practice. The crowd did not care at all. That’s the Tuesday/Friday difference. This was a Msitico showcase match in the way they haven’ been doing them for a while and the crowd ate it up. No one else continued a lot. It still was better than most Tuesday night main events.
Blue Panther got his annual win via farmer’s roll. Johnny Idol winning with a springboard dropkick on someone who was being held seems more unlikely, the rudos always fail in that situation. Mephisto tripping The Panther up on this springboard dropkick was a nice reverse on a usual bit. This wasn’t a memorable matches except those few spots. It was ok enough for a Tuesday.
The lightning match felt into the pattern of guys just taking turning doing moves. Tiger was nominally the técnico during the match, but Pólvora actually seemed to get the reaction and neither had a strong role in the match. There was no real story besides how’s turn it was, and the moves weren’t done fast or impressive enough to be memorable. These matches should be opportunity do something different, but they usually come off sameish.
MDA (SUN) 03/11/2018Arena Coliseo Monterrey [LuchaMania Monterrey]
1) Octagoncito DQ Mini Hator DQ for foul
2) Chik Tormenta b Mystique Torementa won via a Styles Clash
3) The Tiger b Emperador Azteca (IWRG)
4) Trauma I & Trauma II b Caifan II & El Divo
5) Hijo de LA Park b Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr.
6) Sharly Rockstar DCOR Juventud Guerrera they were busy fighting in the crowd when the count hit 20. Guerrera offered Rockstar a MDA t-shirt. He put it on, then seemed to change his mind when the fans disagreed.
7) LA Park b Rey Wagner, Zorro Wagner & Zorro worked together against LA Park, then started fighting among themselves over who would win. After many fouls, LA Park beat Zorro. LA Park, angry about a comment Dorian made about coming to AAA to fight in front of full crowds, pointed out the full crowd for this show.
LA Park looked to be correct in the pictures; the show drew very well despite RevoLucha also running that day. Park seems interested in fighting Wagner and Dorian Roldan and everyone except Psycho & Fantasma in the match AAA is trying to set up.
CMLL (MON) 03/12/2018Arena Puebla [2018 is Lucha Libre, CMLL]
1) Ares & El Perverso b Black Tiger & El Asturiano Rudos took 1/3.
2) Amapola & La Comandante b Kaho Kobayashi & Princesa Sugehit Rudas took 2/3.
3) King Jaguar, Templario, Virus b Audaz, Lestat, Pegasso Rudos took 1/3. Virus submitted Audaz cleanly.
4) Cuatrero, Pólvora, Sansón b Stuka Jr., Titán, Valiente Rudos took 2/3, only losing the first by DQ.
5) La Bestia Del Ring, Rush, Sam Adonis b Euforia, Kráneo, Mr. Niebla [Relevos Increíbles] Kraneo hit Euforia and Niebla maybe by accident, Euforia fouled Kraneo definitely on purpose, and the rudos took advantage for the win. Euforia & Kraneo set up a singles match, with Euforia threatening to send Kraneo packing like the other Invasors.
6) Volador Jr. b Cavernario [NWA WELTER] Volador took 2/3 for his 19th defense. Cavernario’s fourth challenge.
The main event was good for a Puebla match that was airing after midnight, though maybe not worth staying up after midnight to see it. Third match is said to be good too.
CMLL posted post match interviews with Euforia and Kraneo to build to a singles match next week. Whoever’s in charge of Puebla is turning Kraneo tecnico. Given how CMLL’s booked Terrible, I have no idea if this will take hold in any other arena. There’s also a Volador promo.
CMLL has Mascara 2000 versus La Besita del Ring tonight. You should skip it. The middle matches are good, but also the same matches you see on many other shows.
Guadalajara has Diamante Azul defending the Occidente Heavyweight Championship in for the first time in 1407 days. In the time it took CMLL to schedule one Diamante Azul title defense, Volador has defended his title eighteen times.
Caristico confirmed he’s heading to The Crash today, but says he’s not leaving CMLL. Caristico also said he’s bringing his people with him. If Caristico means all his fans, that’ll be good. If Caristico means Argos and Karonte Jr. are getting a Pierroth like spot, that may not be good.
The Crash is still putting up video promos for Rey Mysterio vs Bestia 666. They haven’t addressed Rey’s injury in any way. Bestia posted a promo but Rey hasn’t. I would assume Rey is not wrestling at this point unless Rey specifically posts a promo saying he’s going to be at The Crash and wrestling there. The show will probably still be good, The Crash shows usually are, but I wouldn’t go just to see a shaky main event.)
The Crash also hasn’t addressed Rich Swann situation. Same deal as Rey – unless he says he’s wrestling, I wouldn’t assume he’ll be there.
Impact Wrestling vs Lucha Underground @ WrestleCon on 04/06 (free show on Twitch, night show)
IWRG (WED) 03/14/2018Arena Naucalpan
1) Chef Benito vs Power Bull
2) Ángel Estrella Jr. & Toto vs Guerrero 2000 & Voltar
3) Shadow Boy & Súper Brazo Jr. vs Dragón Yuki & Leroy
4) Black Dragón, Dinamic Black, Dragón Fly vs Diablo Jr., Gallo Frances, Lunatic Xtreme
5) Factor & Spector vs Mike & Teelo and Capo Del Norte & Máscara Año 2000 Jr.
There’s a show Wednesday. (IWRG hasn’t put the card out, but Dragon Yuki did.) Factor hasn’t been here since June 2016, so maybe that’s a mistake or maybe no else is free on Wednesday.
CMLL (SUN) 03/18/2018Arena México
1) Bengala & Sensei vs Apocalipsis & Grako
2) Eléctrico, Pegasso, Stigma vs Hijo del Signo, Sangre Azteca, Universo 2000 Jr.
3) Fuego, Guerrero Maya Jr., Rey Cometa vs Johnny Idol, Kawato San, Tiger
4) Ángel de Oro, Soberano Jr., Stuka Jr. vs Cuatrero, Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora
5) Diamante Azul, Marco Corleone, Matt Taven vs Cavernario, Ephesto, Mephisto
6) Volador Jr. vs Rush
CMLL throwing out one of the biggest singles matches they can do on an untelevised Sunday – but Volador’s travel schedule suggests you shouldn’t have high opes for this one anyway.
Dragon Rojo is back in the fourth match. He’s scheduled to wrestle in Arena Olimpico Laguna Thursday, an indie show on Saturday and then it looks like he’s back to the normal CMLL grind. At least as long as his body will hold up this time.
CMLL (SUN) 03/18/2018Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Eclipse Jr. & Mr. Ángel vs Destructor & Frentico
2) Avispón Negro Jr. & Javier Cruz Jr. vs Demonio Maya & Demonio Rojo
Rielero is the masked one was on Elite for half a second. Guerrero de la Muerte is wagering, probably losing his hair.
MARTINEZ (SUN) 03/25/2018 4Ever Soccer, Fort Worth, Texas
1) Aaron Skyes & Hellio vs Muerte Infernal & Rey Vampiro
2) Aaron Solow vs Epydemius, Juventud Aerea, Omega
3) Sadika vs Rochele, ?
4) Arez & Low Rider vs Harayuki & Mr. Iguana
5) Mecha Wolf vs Taurus (Indie)
This is Martinez’ first show of the year. It’s not as full of indie names as past years, though the gap between show might have been due to needing a new building.
Impuls (SUN) 04/15/2018 Gimnasio Nuevo León Unido, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon
1) Mini Hator vs Mini Difunto, Mini Gato Volador
2) Chocolata & Erika Sotelo vs Baby Love & Lady Flammer
3) Black Impuls vs Epydemius, Psicótico, Última Sombra, Scravos, Faceman [Copa Impuls]
4) Hijo Del Volador, Laredo Kid, Último Ninja vs Brook Duncan, Douki, Ryan Rogan
5) Nicho el Millionario & Rey Mysterio Jr. vs Carlito & Garza Jr.
This is an Impuls card, but it looks like it’s a Revolucha show with a sponsor. That’s the actual Rey Mysterio Jr. in a main event on April 15th, which may or may not bean anything.
Hijo del Volador debuted this past Sunday on that Revolucha show (but I haven’t seen full results yet so I’m only getting around to mentioning it here.)
