DTU (SAT) 02/17/2018 Arena Neza [+LuchaTV, The Gladiatores]
1) Devitt Rodríguez, Hard Boy, Irving Travieso Montiel b Baby Star Jr., Fly Danger, Mini Flash
2) Camuflaje & Jitsu b Billy Gamer & Toto Gamer
3) Anarquía b Drolux, Toxin, Sky Man
4) Lokillo b Vengador, Adrenalina, Kastigador, Kevin, Sadiko, Jitsu, Rey Volador
5) CIMA, Cobre, Moria b Draztick Boy, Jimmy, Negro Casas
Negro Casas’ return from injury. CIMA’s team won. Earlier, Moria was announced as winner of the DTU Visoria contest and will go to Japan for Dragon Gate.
6) Halloween & X-Fly b Paranoiko & Tiburón
Even with CIMA & Negro Casas on the show, this show is among the lowest turns I can ever recall seeing in Arena Neza. Previous DTU shows in Neza haven’t drawn well either. The DTU roster came to the ring before the match, and it appears there’s more wrestlers at the show then fans in the seats. It’s depressing. The Crash says they sold out in Tijuana with CIMA. There were a lot of other notable people on the show, but the difference in the two turnouts is stark.
DTU both announced that the decision about the winner would be coming in a few days , and that Moria was the winner. People were congratulating Moria so I assume he did win. I have no real sense of Moria. I looked around and saw that he’s from Ecatepec, he came thru that cities Arena Victoria, and he has a Facebook page that’s mostly posts from other people or mirror photos. He’s the current DTU Alto Impacto champion, in a match that only turned up in clips. I really don’t know enough Moria to know if he was the right choice to win. I assume he probably was. The issue is, if a guy is talented enough to get invited to tryout for Japan, he shouldn’t also be anonymous.

CMLL being back to normal after the earthquake is a good thing. Everything just went on like normal after Friday. That should would’ve gone on too if the earthquake had happened at 1 instead of 5:30.
CMLL running nothing happening shows on Sunday doesn’t seem like a good thing – but I suppose they would only start running angles here if they didn’t think Elite was coming back for a while.

Back to feeling like I shouldn’t put up these Sunday results because they’re just names with no identities connected to them. Run-ins usually mean a cage match is coming.
AroLucha seemed to draw better in their second weekend of running live shows. Reports on Twitter was positive for both the shows in Beaumont and Humble, and they streamed some of it on Facebook.
I didn’t see much of those shows, but I did see the Baja Stars USA show main event from Saturday night. Fenix & Penta vs Bestia & Garza is still up on Facebook and worth watching.x
The unnamed promotion running in Cancun seemed to fill the 5,500 seat bullring. Cancun hasn’t been a strong market for lucha libre shows of late, even when they’ve had main events the level of Rush & Mistico vs Volador & LA Park and it seemed like a city that’s been skipped over for big shows for that reason. Not sure what made the difference.
AAA continues to draw very well in Ciudad Juarez. That may be AAA’s strongest city right now. The local promoter announced a 04/29 return date, with one of those posters that’s supposed to make you think it’s a TV taping without actually saying it is. (I think it’s probably not.)
Everyone from Lucha Underground should be reporting to Los Angeles by early this week. Social media probably will give an idea of who’s there and not. Angelico being booked in the UK on the first night of the tapings suggests he’s out, but perhaps he’ll just be coming in later. I think I may just spent the next few days constantly eyeballing Sexy Star’s twitter account to see if she posts a photo of a plane.
On the Lucha Libre Boom show in Arena Lopez Mateos on Saturday, Super Loco took Mini Bestia Magnifica’s mask in a minis cage match. Mini Bestia Magnifica is Victor Sosa Ortiz, 47 from Pachuca. Lucha Memes did some invasion of the show
03/11 Lucha Memes in Coacalco
