CMLL (SAT) 12/23/2017 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Retro & Sangre Imperial b Grako & Yago
Grako replaced Cholo. Tecnicos took 2/3.
2) Metálico, Nitro, Sangre Azteca b Flyer, Magia Blanca, Robin
Rudos took 2/3, Nitro giving Robin a piledriver.
3) Mije & Perico Zakarías b El Gallito & Microman
Chamuel was referee. Mije & Zacarias don’t get many wins, but improve to 2-4 in Arena Coliseo.
4) Blue Panther Jr., The Panther, Titán b Felino, Hechicero, Pólvora
Panther Jr. actually won this week (fall 1/3, submitting Hechicero to win), and again challenged fro a title match
5) Carístico, Valiente, Volador Jr. b Cavernario, Gran Guerrero, Mephisto
Volador stole the winning pin from Caristico. They argued post match.

A usual show. Caristico & Volador winning as a team while feuding is unusaul but I don’t think I have a problem with it. Hooray for Panther actually beating Hechicero this week.

19:40. Order of escape: Pegasso, Nitro, Cancerbero, Oro Jr., Raziel, Fiero, Templario, Star Jr., leaving Signo and Starman. Starman beat Signo with the Air Raid Crash. Signo is Marco Antonio Sánchez Rodríguez, 38 years old.

This didn’t draw any better any other Sunday show, though at higher prices – in the 1000-1500 range of people. The hardcore fans wanted to see this show for the mask match, but no one outside them cared about a prelim guy loser their mask this year. They drew around 12,000 for the cage match two years ago when Super Comando lost his mask, this show drew 10% of that. That’s was a Friday, but it also was a match with better names and a card with more important people on it. Just announcing “someone is going to lose a mask” is not a draw in 2017. Or probably 2018.

No full Puebla results, just bits and pieces. Asturiano kept his mask and Espiritu lost his hair. Tiger won his match. Mistico didn’t show up for the main event.

Lucha Memes (MON) 12/25/2017 Coliseo Coacalco, Coacalco, Estado de México [+LuchaTV, Black Terry Jr. (Flickr)R de Rudo]
1) Belial, Demasiado, Flama Roja b Apolo, Kalibus, Mantra
Flama Roja replaced Impulso.
2) Demus 3:16 DQ Trauma I [super libre]
DQ in a super libre match when Demus hit the referee by mistake. Ref had been favoring Trauma I.
3) Alas de Acero, Aramis, El Bandido b Arez, Flamita, Súper Crazy
great match
4) Ricky Marvin b Trauma II
crowd chanted ‘otra lucha’
5) Daga b Caifan
good match
6) Corsario Negro & Drako b Sádico & Yoruba
moved to the main event (because they weren’t as much in a hurry.)

+LuchaTV was strong on the trios match. I saw a fan saying Demua/Trauma and Daga/Caifan were their favorites. Everyone seems disappointed with Marvin/Trauma.

LDLL The Crash (MON) 12/25/2017 Salón Citlalli, Ecatepec, Estado de México [+LuchaTV]
5) Daga b Jack Evans
Jack Evans replaced Black Terry (injury). Good match.
6) Rey Fénix b Penta 0M
great match

The “Fenix and Penta have never had a singles match in Mexico” meme is dead. Not sure if we’ll actually see it, but glad it went well after all this time.

ELITE (MON) 12/25/2017 Deportivo Morelos, Cuajimalpa, Ciudad de México, Distrito Federal [+LuchaTV]
1) Hijo Del Ángel b Brazo Cibernetico Jr.
2) Metaleón & Mr. Leo b Emperador Azteca & Fly Warrior
Emperador Azteca suffered an injury.
3) Imposible & Karaoui b Bandido & Caifan
A mystery Frenchman helped Karaoui win. Karaoui said he’d explain it later.
4) Hijo De Dos Caras, Karonte Jr., Tyson La Bestia DRAW Alas de Oro, Alas De Plata, Golden Magic
Tyson La Bestia replaced Hijo del Gladiador
5) Trauma I & Trauma II DQ La Máscara & Máximo
Traumas had the match won after some fouls, and Mascara unmasked Trauma II.
6) Cibernético & Sharly Rockstar b Lizmark Jr. & Mr. Electro
Lizmark Jr. replaced Zorro.

No crowd photos except for the first match, where there didn’t appear to be a lot of people (or TV equipment.)

The Crash says Black Boy won the The Crash Junior Championship. They don’t mention details, but he and Arkangel Divno were supposed to have a match in Mexcali yesterday so that’s what I’m guessing.

Nothing notable on the AAA shows, though the regular Arena Lopez Mateos AAA show seems to have outdrawn Arena Mexico.

CMLL’s back tonight with a show that feels like it exists only to fulfill the quota of dates needed. The main event is a grab bag match of Angel de Oro, Caristico and Titan against Gran Guerrero, Mephisto and Shocker. Triton makes his Arena Mexico return in the semimain, teaming with Guerrero Maya & Rey Cometa against Hechicero, Mascara 2000 and Polvora. Virus and Universo 2000 Jr. meet in a strange lightning match.

The undercard includes Fiego making it to a tercera, Magia Blanca & Flyer in the second, and Yago wearing an odd outfit to the opener. All the matches have at least one luchador who will limit how good it can be, and the low effort on yesterday’s show gives me no great hopes for this one. It’ll air at 7:30pm on YouTube if you want it.

Guadalajara has the Sky Team vs the Axis of Evil, which might be restarting the trios program which didn’t finish in Arena Mexico.

The local The Crash promoter for Tapachula says they’re back in Chiapas on 04/28 with LA Park, Carlito and Blue Demon Jr..

Violento Jack kept the King of the Freedom World Championship, defeating Jun Kasai in Korakuen Hall. That’s Violento Jack’s last match in Mexico for now, so it’s a bit of surprise he’s coming home with the belt. Aeroboy lost to Daisuke Masaoka in the semimain.

El Siglo de Torreon interviews Soberano Jr., Euforia and Ultimo Guerrero, who are very proud of how many local wrestlers have made it to CMLL: over 10 on one show, one in every match. Ultimo Guerrero emphasizes how many guys he’s responsible for bringing to Mexico City (all the way thru Magia Blanca and Bandido) and is looking for more. Soberano Jr. says he’s hoping for more title defenses in 2018. I suspect he’ll be having one in a few weeks.

Mucha Lucha Atlanta says they’ll have Penta vs Rush on 03/25. They technically don’t say it’s a singles match.

+LuchaTV put up the Mr. Niebla vs Caifan match, one I was skeptical would even happen and now will definitely watch.

RobViper put up a music video of 10/01/1993 AAA and “the best Reyes del Aire ever

Escoria talks about Christmas memories.

Signo’s match will be his first unmasked one.
