MedioTiempo posted an interview with Psicosis/Ripper, which was from the last TripleMania press and might be a trasnscript of the interview he did with +LuchaTV since it’s the same subjects. It’s relevant today, because he mentions Histeria/Morphosis and Maniaco will be hopefully with him, and Morphosis is today booked in Puebla. Psicosis/Ripper also says he left CMLL on good terms, though he was still booked on a CMLL card the week he left. Likewise, Morphosis is listed tonight in Puebla but no one expects him to actually be there. Psicosis name drops Heavy Metal and Cibernetico as people AAA is talking to about coming in for the Copa TripleMania. Cibernetico’s amount of matches have diminished with the closing of Elite. Heavy Metal has disappeared on his own; only 11 known matches last year, and five this year.
One more name worth considering for as an AAA return for that match: Zorro. He was noticeably missing from all the The Crash shows, and was quietly removed from the Revolucha shows this weekend. He’s been dealing with a neck injury, bad enough that he seemed to be wrestling in a neck brace at times, so it could just be taking care of himself. Even if there’s nothing to it this weekend, he still fits the same category of stars from AAA’s past who AAA would want to reach out for their 25th Anniversary show. I’m sure they’ve asked, and it’s just about if there’s a deal to be made.
Morphosis’ match tonight isn’t all that interesting: the random lineup generation spits out the Panther kids & Soberano against Kraneo, Olimpico and whoever replaced Morphosis. The main event is strange, a relevos incriebles with rudos only one side. Essentially, Diamante Azul is a rudo for night with Negro Casas & Ultimo Guerrero against Caristicio, Marco Corleone and Mistico. It could be that a rudo just wasn’t available for that spot for whatever reason and Azul being on that side means nothing, but it also points at a Azul/Corleone match.
The big match is Stuka challenging Mephisto for the CMLL Welterweight Championship. Both men’s singles matches seem to depend on who they’re working with. They’re good trios wrestlers who haven’t shown a lot more they can do when they’re on their own. They’d had three 1v1 matches before – one in Arena Mexico, one on FanasticaMania – and Mephisto wins every time. It’ll probably the same here.
The rest of the show has Zeuxis & Sugehit running into each other again in a rare 2v2 women’s match, and a couple openers with mostly locals and nothing going on. The show airs at 9pm CT on CMLL’s YouTube.
In an in-ring promo on Saturday’s The Crash show, he said they’d be doing Jack Evans vs Bestia 666 in a hair match, Black Danger vs Oraculo in a mask match, and Daga vs Garza Jr. in a hair match by the end of the year. That last one is going to be the toughest.
El Universal says Televisa has been sued for unauthorized use of Blue Demon in the TV series of the same. It’s a really short story, but is not a surprise – articles leading into the show mentioned one of Blue Demon’s non-wrestling sons gave the ok, while luchador Blue Demon Jr. generally refused to talk about it but hinted he was very unhappy with the fictional story. The two have had disagreements over who owns the name and in what ways for years, this is just it coming back to life again.
Black Terry Jr. has amazing photos from the Zona 23 show.
