Super Astro (SAT) 07/29/2017 Arena Lopez Mateos [R de Rudo]
1) Candy White & Eterno b Psicosis Jr. & Rossy Moreno
2) Diva Salvaje, Estrellita, Keira, Pegazus b Demonio Infernal, Hijo del Alebrije, Lady Maravilla, Yuriko
3) Diamante, Hijo del Pantera, Imposible b Aramis, Dinamic Black, Metaleón
4) Draego & Hijo de Máscara Sagrada b Antifaz del Norte & Dr. Karonte Jr.
5) Fishman Jr., Lizmark Jr., Ninja Jr. b Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Ultramán Jr., X-Fly
6) Emperador Azteca, Flamita, Laredo Kid b Atomic Star, Trauma I, Trauma II
7) Hijo De Dos Caras, Oriental, Silver King b Ángel Blanco Jr., Shocker, Valiente
8) Gran Guerrero, Mr. Electro, Último Guerrero b Fresero Jr., La Bestia Del Ring, Terrible
9) Hijo de LA Park & LA Park DQ Dragón Lee & Rush
usual bit of fouls, with Rush getting a three count but being DQed after the fact
We’d be here until Tuesday if I listed all the changes from the original lineup (though I think there was an updated lineup I didn’t see until it stopped mattering.) I’m still not sure it’s right – Sexy Star mentioned how she couldn’t believe she was partners with Estrellita after all these years, but her name doesn’t appear in those results. Maybe CMLL stepped in at the last second and said no? It is odd how CMLL and The Crash people (Flamita, Laredo, Keira) are on the same show as CMLL ones, but the people behind the Super Astro shows seem to have unlimited money to get what they want. I saw the main event on a Facebook stream and it was a pretty fun match. Rush & Park did their usual stuff, and Dragon Lee is so good that he made me want to see him versus Hijo de LA Park in a singles match.
CMLL (SAT) 07/29/2017 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Retro & Sonic b Metálico & Templario
Metalico replaced Akuma.
2) Angelito, Fantasy, Último Dragóncito b Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Violencia
tecnicos took 1/3.
3) Blue Panther Jr., El Consejo, The Panther b Hijo del Signo, Virus, Warrior Steel
Match originally had Nitro as a rudo, but El Consejo (Nitro’s new tecnico name) was placed on the tecnico side on Tuesday instead of Fuego, and Warrior Steel turned up for the first time since March 2016 to take his spot on the rudo side. Consejo won in his “debut”
4) Rey Cometa b Sagrado [lightning]
5) Guerrero Maya Jr., Johnny Idol, Soberano Jr. b Dragón Rojo Jr., Hechicero, Pólvora
Tecnicos took 2 (excessive violence DQ) and 3. Rudos attacked Soberano after the match.
6) Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Vangellys b Carístico, Marco Corleone, Valiente
Vangellys snuck in a foul on Marco and set up a title match next week.
Vangellys going for the title would be weird on most shows, but 51 year old union leader Nitro was reborn as a tecnico winning matches with a top rope plancha so who even knows what weird is any more.
CMLL (SUN) 07/30/2017 Arena México [CMLL]
1) Artillero, Espanto Jr., Espíritu Negro b Magia Blanca, Robin, Sonic
2) Cancerbero, Raziel, Sangre Azteca b El Consejo, Oro Jr., Pegasso
El Consejo (Nitro under a new name) replaced Astral on Tuesday. Rudos took 2/3.
3) Amapola, La Comandante, Metálica b Marcela, Silueta, Skadi
Rudos took 2/3.
4) Canelo Casas b Cholo [hair]
Canelo took 1/3, winning with a casita. Cholo’s first hair match loss.
5) Ángel de Oro, Dragón Lee, Stuka Jr. b Ephesto, Felino, Luciferno
Luciferno replaced Ripper (left for AAA mid week but never taken off the lineup despite other changes.)
Neither Canelo or Cholo are booked next week yet. This probably should set up Canelo as a tecnico but I’m not sure if they’re doing it, and there’s at least a chance this is a farewell hair match loss for Cholo. Or, they could just be partners again in two weeks. One never knows.
In RIOT, Fly Warrior defeated Shane Strickland to advance in the quarterfinals of the Powerbomb.TV tournament. This aired on Facebook and will be on their service. It had a rough start, but got pretty good as it went along. Powerbomb hasn’t announced when/where the semifinal + finals will be held, but it’s probably a ways out.
AAA’s show in Arena Neza seems to have drawn a strong card. It was built around seeing Psycho Clown or Dr. Wagner masked for the last time in that arena. On the undercard, they set up a Motocross vs Chico Che hair match for 09/16. CMLL should be worried.
Gimnasio Ajusco in Mexico City was reopened this weekend as a lucha libre venue. The article (and probably the politicians) billed it as the first school of lucha libre in Mexico City, which is not really the case. The article goes onto say the school has been certified by CMLL and maybe they mean the first outside school that’s been like that, but even then I’m sure that’s the case and it’s nothing CMLL has acknowledged. Still, more venues in Mexico City are always a good thing.

This week’s AAA show is up. It’s a good show.

Lineups
CMLL (SAT) 08/05/2017 Arena Coliseo
1) Retro & Sonic vs El Coyote & Espanto Jr.
2) Príncipe Diamante, Sangre Imperial, Sensei vs Artillero, Warrior Steel, Yago
3) El Gallito & Microman vs Chico Temido & Mije
4) Fuego, Rey Cometa, The Panther vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Olímpico, Pólvora
5) Blue Panther, Diamante Azul, Johnny Idol vs Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Sam Adonis
6) Marco Corleone © vs Vangellys [CMLL HEAVY]
second defense
Zacarias is booked off in Texas, so Chico Temido makes his CMLL debut. He (blond mohawk) and Chamuel (clown) have been working micro matches since at least 2014 and wrestled Mije & Zacarias back in June in Neza, which might have been a tryout for this.
Olimpico is back in Mexico City, as expected to pick up a Ripper bookings. Warrior Steel’s looks to be back full time, as everyone who appeared last March and disappeared seems to be getting brought back. I wonder if we’ll ever get the story of what happened, because it’s very transparent something did go down.
CMLL (SUN) 08/06/2017 Arena México
1) Acero & Aéreo vs Pequeño Nitro & Pequeño Olímpico
2) Flyer, Sensei, Star Jr. vs Cancerbero, Hijo del Signo, Nitro

5) Carístico, Marco Corleone, Volador Jr. vs Ephesto, Euforia, Mephisto
Nitro is back being Nitro. Give it a couple days to see if CMLL screwed up or if the El Consejo thing was just a weird one week deal for trademark reasons.
The most recent CMLL-REINA International champion was a British wrestler with a northern European sounding name, Heidi Katrina. She had barely wrestled for REINA. She still seemed to be on good terms as far I can tell on her Twitter timeline, but that promotion seems to change leadership every nine months and she was probably a previous regime’s choice. (Also, they seem to run about six shows every nine months. VOW’s Wrestling Omakase recently podcast did a deep dive into all the current Joshi promotions and REINA is so minor and barely visible that it didn’t even rate a mention. I think Mr. Cacao and his people are now running the group and that’s why CMLL is still involved, but it’s about the exact opposite of their NJPW partnership and this was a long aside so let’s try a new paragraph.)
So, anyone, random vacant women’s title. This shouldn’t be confused with the CMLL-REINA International Junior title held by Keira, but most people will be because there’s no reason in the world this group needs two titles.. Zeuxis & Sugehit are both in this cibernetico, and Zeuxis is already announced for REINA in October, so she’s the logical favorite.
