The annual Festival de Mascaras show sounds like a fun easy nostalgia show where everyone just wears their old outfits and has a good time. This Festival de Mascaras was full of bloody brawls and screwy finishes. The Caristico/Warrior finish in particular has to be going somewhere, there’s no way Warrior gets that win unless they’ve got a hair match locked in for here or if they’re trying to get someone to bite on it. Maybe it’s worth a try – this show seemed to draw a big crowd.

Tonight’s Puebla has Rush & Pierroth teaming with Ultimo Guerrero again, but no Niebla Roja on the other side. Instead, it’s the TGR team of Terrible, Shocker and Rey Bucanero. This isn’t a good card. Atlantis, Diamante Azul, Valiente versus Kraneo, Mephisto and Atlantis is the random names semimain.

This is being billed as a 63rd Anniversary Show, and so the crowd will probably be way into the Ares versus Espiritu Maligno match. The feud hasn’t been anything to this point but the Puebla fans usually react huge to their own guys in apuesta matches and they’ll make this into something worth watching. Soberano, Stigma, Titan take on Disturbio, Misterioso and Sagrado in the most promising match on the show for just normal quality reasons. Marcela face Dalys in a lightning match which might also turn on OK. Asturiano, Black Tiger, Meyer meet Malayo, Fuerza Chicana and King Jaguar in the opener. The show airs at 9pm on

AAA announced the 07/27 Aguascalientes lineup posted here a couple days ago. They also confirmed it’s the final taping before TripleMania, which have a 30 day break between TV tapings. It shouldn’t be a quiet period – they’re scheduled to go to Colombia, they’ll be doing public workouts with Wagner & Psycho to hype that match – but it is an exceptionally long break.

On a podcast with Polvora.com.mx, Marty Martinez said he’s talking to AAA to be on TripleMania. It sounded like he and AAA are talking positively about but maybe still working on the details. There’s an interesting bit in there about his Lucha Underground character and the work he put in developing what was originally pitched as just a comic relief guy in a t-shirt. He credits Vampiro with helping out with that. Marty says he expects to hear they’re green lit for season 4 at any moment and to be taping in October. It is nice to hear someone positive about Lucha Underground.

RIOT on 07/29 in Arena Femenil Monterrey
1) Shane Strickland vs Fly Warrior in the first round of the Powerbomb.TV tournament.
2) Muerte Extrema vs Psicotico

Lineup

IWRG (WED) 07/05/2017 Arena Naucalpan
1) Keiser Drago & Voltar vs Adrenalina & Atomic Star
2) Lunatic Xtreme vs Warrior Jr.
3) Alas de Acero & Aramis vs Dowki & Pantera del Japon
4) Black Dragón, Dinamic Black, Dragón Fly vs Diablo Jr., El Hijo del Diablo, Eterno
5) Emperador Azteca, Hijo del Pantera, Pantera I vs Cerebro Negro, Dragón Yuki, Ovett

Last week’s main event was supposed to be that same rudo side versus Azteca and two Panteras. Same thing, but different Panteras. Same semimain too.

CMLL (SUN) 07/09/2017 Arena México
1) Acero & Aéreo vs Pequeño Olímpico & Pequeño Violencia
2) Robin vs Príncipe DiamanteOro Jr.SenseiMagia BlancaSangre ImperialArtilleroInquisidorEspíritu NegroCholoCanelo CasasEspanto Jr. [cibernetico]
3) Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther, Dragón Lee vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Sam Adonis
4) Atlantis, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Cavernario, Felino, Mr. Niebla
5) Último Guerrero vs Niebla Roja

The cibernetico is really weird. It’s not like CMLL to give opener guys something to do unless they’re stretching to fill out the bottom of a tournament, and someone there will have to actually win it. It’s the very bottom of the roster. Something must be up but I’m not sure what.

CMLL (SUN) 07/09/2017 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Mr. Ángel vs Destructor
2) Avispón Negro Jr. & Capitán Cobra vs Destello & Mr. Apolo
3) Black Sugar & Javier Cruz Jr. vs Évola & Puma Negro
4) Explosivo, Mágico, Smaker vs Guerrero de la Muerte, Joker, Sádico
5) Neutrón & Omar Brunetti vs Difunto & Espectrúm and El Rielero & Vaquero Jr. and Exterminador & Maléfico [OCCIDENTE TAG, semifinal]

Second half of the tag tournament is the highlight. I’d guess the regular duo of Exterminador & Maelfico are the favorite.
