This is not last night’s Guadalajara results. These are last week’s ones, which were only posted last night. And by posted, I mean the only text was mentioning the main event result and I’m guessing the rest of the results via the pictures. Apparently posting results is really hard and you should all be amazed I’m able to do it in the regular as well as I do (which is not well enough.)

15th defense (seems to be billed as 14)

You should go out of your way to see the main event. Culticon had it as the best CMLL singles match this year and I think that may be right, the best matches so far this year have all been tag matches. This is the fourth strong singles match of the year for Cavernario already, joining the FantasticaMania match against Dragon Lee and two with Rey Cometa (plus one of those really good tag matches.)

The rest of the card didn’t seem quite as strong as hoped but it was still a good card and a well attended one due to the discount.

Lucha Underground tonight is episode 3×23, “Family First”. It’s expected to be the first round matches in Group B of the Cueto Cup:

Family First would seem to refer to Marty & Mariposa. Last time we saw Marty, he was spying on Melissa Santos and then tied up in rope by Mariposa (payback for Marty attacking her before.)

The Lucha Libre World/Todo x el Todo annual tour of England begins tomorrow. They’re running in Manchester’s Albert Hall tomorrow, and York Hall in London on Friday and Saturday. This is the tour where Santo Jr. debuted last year. The Santos, Casandro, Laredo Kid, Silver King, Bandido, Mascartia Sagrada and Octagoncito are among those advertised.

AAA showed off a Dr. Wagner logo plane, which will take fans buying their travel package to the Ring & Rock StAAArs show in September. There’s also scheduled to be a Psycho Clown plane.

AAA’s show in Nuevo Laredo looks like it had a lot of open seats in this news report. It looks like some of the pictures from Juarez, where ringside was full and the bleachers were most full but the floor seats a few rows back were vacant.

Lucha Memes says one of their wrestlers will debut in CMLL on July 21st, Black Terry & Negro Navarro will return to the promotion sometime that month. and they’ll be debuting in a new building to lucha libre on July 15.

The PWG tag title match is now available on Highspot’s Network. I believe it’s two one camera shoot with no announcers.

Negro Navarro will be in Seattle this weekend, appearing on the Lucha Libre Volcanica show and teaching a two day seminar.

Dos Caras will appear at Slammiversary, in Alberto’s corner for the Impact/GFW championship match against Bobby Lashley. Dos has been in Alberto’s corner for matches in AAA (and WWE when they toured Mexico), and might figure into the finish – something where people go after Dos and Alberto is distracted fits as a usual out.

A new luchador named “SuperXStar” is scheduled to debut at Juventud Guerrera’s Super X show tomorrow. R de Rudo interviews him, reveals he’s the former Alas de Oro.

The Los Exoticos documentary will be aired on June 24 in Mexico City’s Faro Aragon. An all exotico lucha show will proceed it. That documentary has been around for a number of years but hasn’t gotten wider distribution.

There will be a lucha libre art exhibit on June 29th in Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon.

Hijo del Santo is angry a tournament on an AAA spot show is named after El Santo.

Lineups

IWRG (SUN) 06/25/2017 Arena Naucalpan
1) Tentaculo vs Power Bull
2) Climax Jr. & Shaolin vs Atomic Star & Lunatic Xtreme
3) Alas de Acero & Aramis vs Demonio Infernal & Metaleón
4) Dinamic Black, Gallo Frances, Pantera del Japon vs Cerebro Negro, Eterno, Tyson La Bestia
5) Heddi Karaoui, Trauma II, Villano III Jr. vs Emperador Azteca, Hijo del Pantera, Pantera I
6) Hijo De Dos Caras, Imposible, Veneno vs Black Warrior, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Trauma I
7) Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan Jr. vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro [hair]
3 v 3 hair match

Now we know why the Oficials are back. I think Hijo de Pirata Morgan can do a better first hair loss than this, unless he really just wants the moment of losing his hair with his father and brother. The officials will have more trouble.

The fourth match has a French chicken & Japanese panther. The third match looks good.

Tentaculo is a new name. Octopus?

CMLL (TUE) 06/27/2017 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Black Sugar & El Alteño vs Carlo Roggi & Destello
2) Explosivo, Leono, Sensei vs Akuma, Joker, Metálico
3) Marcela, Princesa Sugehit, Skadi vs La Metálica, Tiffany, Zeuxis
4) Ángel de Oro, Atlantis, Valiente vs Pólvora, Sam Adonis, Vangellys
5) Carístico, Dragón Lee, Volador Jr. vs Cavernario, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas

A show. Sugehit/Zeuxis make their way here. CMLL has two different people on their lineups named Joker at the same time, possibly hasn’t figured it out.

CMLL (TUE) 06/27/2017 Arena México
1) Bengala & Sangre Imperial vs Cholo & Templario
2) Astral, Magnus, Robin vs Artillero, Espanto Jr., Hijo del Signo
3) Johnny Idol, Oro Jr., Stigma vs Raziel, Sagrado, Virus
4) Esfinge vs Disturbio [lightning]
5) Fuego, Soberano Jr., Stuka Jr. vs Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto
6) Diamante Azul, Mistico, Niebla Roja vs Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero

We’re getting so much Diamante Azul next week, I wonder what new tattoos he’ll have. Hijos del Infierno are teaming up a lot without a trios title program. Opener would be the first CMLL streaming appearance for Templario since July.

06/19/2017 AAA in Nuevo Laredo Results (Mami & Hamburguesa mixed tag champs)

photo via AAA’s Twitter

AAA TV (MON) 06/19/2017 Poliforum, Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas
1) Big Mami & Niño Hamburguesa b Lady Shani & Venum [AAA MIXED TAG]
vacant titles following Sexy Star quitting the company (apparently over refusing to lose them) and Pentagon Jr. forfeiting them after defending them 2 v 1. Mami & Hamburguesa won qualifying matches. Venum got his shot from the Oro de Oportunidad and picked Shani as his partner. Hamburguesa & Mami are the 14th champions, both winning an AAA title first.
2) Dark Cuervo & Dark Scoria © b Hernandez & Máscara de Bronce [AAA TAG]
First defense. Hernandez didn’t get along with Bronce (and it’s unclear why they were a team getting a title shot except to break up.) Kevin Kross took Bronce’s title shot case after the match.
3) Carta Brava Jr., Mocho Cota Jr., Soul Rocker © NC Aerostar, Drago, Raptor [AAA TRIOS]
would’ve been second defense. Poder del Norte won via foul, but Vampiro threw out the match and declared the two teams would have a series of matches. The length of the series was left unspecified.
4) Marty Martinez b Texano Jr.
Billed as a Lucha Underground match. Killshot was advertised for this show, did not appear.
5) Estrella Divina b Pimpinela Escarlata
At some point in the show (maybe after this match), Averno attacked Pimpinela, but Sangre Chicana made the save.
6) Averno & Súper Fly b Argenis & La Parka
Presumably intended to be a tag match, but mostly a Argenis vs OGT match with no La Parka. He showed up later, apparently having been attacked backstage. OGT fouled Argenis to win. (Vampiro did not annul this result.)
7) Dr. Wagner Jr., El Mesías, Kevin Kross b Hijo del Fantasma, Pagano, Psycho Clown [Relevos Increíbles]
Billed as a relevos increíbles though Pagano is essentially a tecnico now. Texano distracted Fantasma to set up Kross’ win.

Air Date: 07/15 and 07/22

This was the usually 0 for 7 on advertised matches. Usually, everyone ends up on the show but in different matches. This time, 8 people (Ricky Marvin, Killshot, Taya, Faby, Mamba, Australian Suicide, Bengala, Lanzelot) all missed the show. Taya mentioned on Twitter that she was out due to injuries suffered from a drunk driver hitting her car last week. They might have not brought Faby without her. Marvin appears to be working spot shows but not TV. Killshot hadn’t mentioned AAA at all and I’m guessing plans changed there some time ago and AAA just didn’t say anything. The other are more interchangable, and there were people changed onto the show in their places, but it’s odd that Mamba didn’t wrestler on her hometown after being advertised.

The mixed tag title match happened out of nowhere but Mami & Hamburguesa were the obvious winners when the concept was announced. They keep doing bits where Mascara de Bronce loses the briefcase, so maybe they’re heading to a ladder match for it or something (pulling in guys like Kross and Hernandez and anyone else who doesn’t have something to do.)

An Aerostar/Drago/Raport vs Poder del Norte series of matches sounds fun, but it’s hard to believe AAA will carry it out in any way that makes sense with how scattered everything is at the moment. Not announcing how many matches the series sure seems like a sign they haven’t planned this out yet. (It probably should be three, to squeeze it in time for TripleMania.)

I suspect Texano/Marty won’t air. Divina beating Pimpi is a random finish but maybe a win going back later. They had set up Divina & Mamba versus Pimpi back in Arena Aficion, but that’ll be about six TV weeks before this show, hopefully they’ve taped something more in between that we haven’t been told about. The top two matches continued the usual feuds.

working TripleMania 25 card for August 27, version 1.1. Italics indicate match not official.

  • Psycho Clown vs Dr. Wagner Jr., mask vs mask
  • Johnny Mundo (c) vs Hijo del Fantasma vs Texano Jr. for all three AAA championships
  • a dream battle royal with Lanzelot and TBA (Sangre Chicana? OGT?)
  • probably Mesias vs Pagano in an extreme match
  • maybe something with the OGT vs Parka/Argenis/Ricky
  • maybe something with the #1 contender shot (Mascara de Bronce, Kevin Kross, Hernandez?)
  • perhaps Aerostar, Drago, Raptor versus Poder del Norte for the AAA Trios Championship
  • perhaps Faby Apache vs Taya for the Reina de Reinas title

Next taping is a week from Friday, June 30 in Puebla. That’s the farthest ahead lineup we have right now, with Monterrey not happening for about four weeks.

6) Hechicero © b Atlantis [NWA LH] LA MEJOR LUCHA LIBRE EN VIVO DESDE LA ARENA PUEBLA 19 DE JUNIO DEL 2017 (posted by VideosOficialesCMLL)
Hechicero took falls 1/3 to retain. 3rd defense

Main event was pretty good, about as good as you’re getting from Atlantis in a singles match outside of September. Hechicero did the his SSP that he’s been doing of late and not really landing all that cleanly, and this time landing not that cleanly meant his knee smashed Atlantis’ nose. Atlantis was bleeding thru the third fall.

The rest of the show was rushed and they still went pretty long. At least I know now why they bothered to do the women’s match, since that’s a feud now. Ares & Espiritu actually interacted at the end of their match.

Tonight’s CMLL show should be one of the best Tuesday night shows of the year. It’s an oddly loaded lineup with 2 for 1 ticket discount which should provide a lot bigger crowd than usual. The main even is a rematch of an excellent match from last year, Volador putting up the NWA Welterweight Championship against Cavernario. The caveman has won in straight falls in the last two matches. A title change is unlikely but it’s likely the match will be pretty good.

The semimain has Caristico & Mistico teaming up again, with Valiente as the third partner, against the Hijos del Infierno, which looks good. The fourth match has Blue Panther, Fuego and Drone taking on Cuatrero, Sanson and Sam Adonis, which looks good. The third match has the Panther brothers & Pegasso against Puma, Tiger and Virus, which looks good. The second match has Magnus, Metatron, Oro Jr. versus Akuma, Canelo Casas, and Sangre Azteca, which looks….not so good. The opener is a minis match that’s probably skippable too, but it’s going to be a good night if you tune in about 40 minutes after start time. The show proper starts at 7:30pm on CMLL’s YouTube page.

Guadalajara has the return of Diamante Azul, teaming with Marco & Niebla Roja versus Pierroth, Rush and Shocker.

Lucha Libre y Pasion announced Marty Scurll is coming in for their next show (which I guess confirms they have a next show.) No date, location announced. It’s also the oddness of a ROH/NJPW wrestling coming to Mexico City and apparently not working for CMLL or Lucha Memes (though I suppose this could be an extra match part of the Gran Prix?)

Rush faces LA Park on 07/29 in Arena Lopez Mateos on another Super Astros show. No word yet who else will be on that show.

Freelance/Mike Segura is currently listed on the DTU show in Arena Roberto Paz (Guadalajara), the Invasion Independente show in Arena Neza, and the FILLM in Arena Lopez Mateos show on July 1st. That’s not going to work. Dulce Garica (Sexy Star) is also listed on the Arena Neza show, after previously said she’s not wrestling any more in Mexico.

AIW posted the Flamita vs Alex Daniels vs DJZ match from last year. It’s a real fun match you should go out of your way to watch. AIW’s Chandler Biggins passed away early this morning. I didn’t know him outside of listening to AIW’s wildly entertaining podcast, but the news knocked the air out of me when I heard it this morning. My condolences to everyone who knew him.

+LuchaTV’s latest podcast has interviews with Hugo Savinovich, Ultimo Ninja, Draztick Boy and Flamita.

AULL referee Sovietico passed away.

Black Terry beat Latigo in the main event of the Rudos Neza show.

Lady Flammer won the LLF championship.

Mortiz won Crazy Frank’s hair in Tijuana.

Lineups

1) Destructor, Dinámico, Drnazer vs Craken, Matrix Jr., Satán X
2) Fly Tiger, Keiser Drago, Voltar vs Adrenalina, Guerrero 2000, Warrior Jr.
3) Blue Monsther, Celestial Boy, Shadow Boy vs Acero, Auzter, Vórtize
4) Dragón Fly, Kanon, Leo vs Lunatic Xtreme, Skanda, Toxin

Gym FILL (Bombero Infenal) versus Gym Cuatitlan (Robin Maravilla)

There’s a Wednesday show announced on Tuesday, seems about right. The main event has students from Arena 23 de Junio as the opposition.

CMLL (MON) 06/26/2017 Arena Puebla
1) Asturiano & Vega vs El Perverso & Joker
2) Estrellita & Sanely vs Amapola & Dalys
3) Espíritu Maligno, Fuego, Pegasso vs Ares, Arkángel de la Muerte, Canelo Casas
4) Drone, Johnny Idol, Stuka Jr. vs Felino, Puma, Tiger
5) Dragón Lee vs Negro Casas [lightning]
6) Pierroth, Rush, Último Guerrero vs Niebla Roja, Rey Bucanero, Terrible [Relevos Increíbles]

Main event is bad? Probably bad! I’m excited for Ultimo Guerrero’s invisible soccer moves.

Semimian should be better and fourth match has a chance. Women’s match has to be setting up Dalys versus Estrellita or Dallys versus Sanely. Probably the first one.

Ares & Espiritu are having a hair match in a few weeks based on long feud they haven’t been having, I’m assuming. It’s so dumb.

Lucha Memes (SUN) 06/18/2017 Coliseo Coacalco, Coacalco, Estado de México [+LuchaTV, Black Terry Jr. (Flickr)]
1) Alas de Acero & Aramis b King Rocker (Puebla) & Rey Samuray (Puebla)
2) Toxin b Arkalis
3) Arez, Belial, Impulso b Blue Tiger (Puebla), Hijo Del Vikingo, Perverso Jr. (Puebla)
4) Rey Apocalipsis b Eterno
5) Demus 3:16 b Iron Kid
Good but hard hitting match. Demus continued to attack Iron Kid after the match until Alas de Acero & Aramis made the save. Demus said he was coming after all three Kamikazes.
6) Multifacetico (Puebla) & Prayer b Sádico & Toxin
Toxin replaced Terry 2000 (might explain why it’s last if they were waiting for him). Prayer suffered a knee injury.

Mexico State went 3-2 over the Puebla team, winning the first three and losing the last two (which again suggest the card order had to be switched around in progress.) Rey Apocalipsis beating Eterno is the surprising upset. I hope this show did well – crowd seemed not packed but nicely filled for a show with these names, showing the Lucha Memes name itself means a bit – because groups of indie guys all piling into a car and going someplace else seems to have been a thing helped grow indie wrestling in the US and maybe it can help in Mexico. Luchadors need that experience wrestling people they don’t normally work with, and the better ones can stand out on different shows. Some of the Puebla guys can be seen pretty regularly Monday nights in Arena Puebla, but CMLL’s made it pretty clear there’s no path to success from there unless you happen to be in a royal family. Maybe they can make another one.

IWRG (SUN) 06/18/2017 Arena Naucalpan [The Gladiatores]
1) Atomic Star & Lunatic Xtreme b Dragón Yuki & Voltar
Dragon Yuki replaced Shadow Boy, making his first appearance here in 10 years.
2) Climax Jr. & Shaolin b Power Bull & Vórtize
3) Black Dragón b Leo, Aramis, Demonio Infernal, Freelance
4) Hip Hop Man, Pibe Alfajor, Villano III Jr. b Dinamic Black, Dragón Fly, Látigo
Latigo replaced Centvrion, but still betrayed his team because Indy Nation doesn’t like Dinamic Black.
5) Emperador Azteca b La Mosca © [IWRG IC WELTER]
Emperador Azteca becomes the 36th champion. La Mosca falls on his second defense after Hip Hop Man interference failed.
6) Internacional Pantera, Pantera del Japon, Pantera I b Diablo Jr., El Hijo del Diablo, Eterno
the debuting Pantera del Japan is probably Kohei Fujimura from Wrestle-1
7) Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr., Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro b Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan, Súper Mega
Bloody match. Super Mega needed a stretcher after a martinete. Piratas wanted a rematch in an apuesta match next week and the Oficials said OK.

Emperador Azteca beating Mosca for his title seems a quiet way to end the Argentina run. Azecta has been feuding with Imposible, so maybe that’ll be the feud.

Nights with AAA running a taping at the same time as CMLL airs a streaming show aren’t new. Usually those are Friday nights, but AAA is running a rare Monday taping . Monday is Nuevo Laredo’s usual show day, so the TV taping takes place tonight. The usual CMLL Puebla show starts at 9pm and the AAA show is scheduled to start at the same time (but will be 30-45 minutes later.) The AAA show will not air live; they’re so far ahead in taping that this show won’t start airing for about a month, on July 15th. There’s a good chance you’ll see the results this weekend and have forgotten what exactly happens by the time it finally airs.

This is an AAA TV taping in 2017, so we have both a lineup and an expectation that the lineup doesn’t really matter but everyone listed on the show will show up in one way or other. The main event was announced as Faby Apache, Hijo del Fantasma, Psycho Clown versus Dr. Wagner, Kevin Kross and Taya. The match seemed designed to follow current feuds (with Kross continuing as a stand in for Mundo) but it’s unclear if the Faby/Taya feud is still on. Taya & Faby had run-ins on the Tijuana taping, but Faby beating Ayako Hamada to get a title shot at Taya was not aired on TV.

The other notable missing match from recent TV was the special Lucha Underground match in Tijuana, where Aerstar & Drago beat Killshot & Marty. Killshot didn’t wear his mask for that match, which is my guess for why it didn’t air. We’ll see if he’s masked tonight, or if he’s even there tonight. He was in England as of this morning, which is a long way from Nuevo Laredo. He can make it, it’s just going to be a long day.

The scheduled semimain is OGT vs Ricky Marvin’s friends. OGT previously challenged Poder del Norte for a trios title match, so it’s possible that may happen here instead – or maybe they’ll just set up something for TripleMania with all three teams. (Setting up things for TripleMania should be a goal here, since this will be on one of the last tapings to air before a taping.) Ricky Marvin is still around AAA; an interview with him from the AAA offices aired on Zona Ruda this week. It might have been an older one, but they wouldn’t be airing it at all if he was gone.

Pagano versus Mesias, a likely TripleMania match, is the other big match listed for the card – but there’s no telling if any of this is going to happen. You can see the scheduled lineup and make your own guesses.

There’s only 3 more scheduled TV tapings after this one prior to TripleMania: 06/30 in Puebla, 07/16 in Monterrey and 07/27 in Aguascalientes. The last one was moved up a week, creating a four week quiet period of no taping activity leading up to TripleMania. AAA’s heading to Colombia one of those weekends, but it’s still strangely large – maybe something else will be added. I’m not sure.

We can be pretty confident about the matches taking place tonight in Arena Puebla. The big match is Hechicero defending the NWA Light Heavyweight Championship against Atlantis. Atlantis is a former champion, but he’s also currently national light heavyweight champion and is unlikely to win tonight, but is an interesting opponent for Hechicero. Hechicero just faced Atlantis’ old rival Satanico in this same arena, Atlantis has faced Hechicero’s old rival Caifan a few times on Lucha Memes shows, but this is the first time they’ve ever met in a singles match. Hechicero is great, especially against the older luchadors, and this could be an interesting match if they go for it.

Semimain might also set up an interesting match with an older luchador. It’s a trios rematch, with Peste Negra (Negro Casas, Mr. Niebla, and Cavernario) versus Carsitico, Dragon Lee and Mistico. Dragon Lee versus Negro Casas was the focus last week, and could set up a lightweight title match for next week.

The rest of the card is the usual filler, with one interesting match among a lot of people scheduled on the card just to get in their weekly work. There’s one match too many on the show, just to reach those numbers, and may work against the main event going too long. Angel de Oro, Stigma & Titan face Dragon Rojo, Polvora and Vangellys in the best chance for another good match on the show. Ares & Espiritu Maligno continue to be booked every week against each other despite not feuding; they’ll team with Black Tiger, Lestat, Arkangel and Rey Apocalipsis. (Puebla’s anniversary show is probably on 07/17, they ran King Jaguar/Black Tiger the week after last year, so something should be brewing among the locals buy now.) Estrellita & Sanely face Amapola & Dalys in a rare women’s 2v2 tag match and the show opens with the Centella Rojas against Fuerza Chicana & Policeman.

A show headlined by Carsitico & Mistico versus Ultimo Guerrero & Volador sold out Mazatlan’s Cancha German Evers (more than 2000 people, largest crowd in some time.) They were also honoring singer Julio Preciado, so he might have had something to do with it. Principe Kisho & Terremoto King Jr. picked up the Pacific Coast Tag Team championship from Vaquero Jr. & Gallo in the semimain.

A new lucha libre documentary (Rudismo) on a local luchador is scheduled to debut in Leon’s film festival on 06/26.

La Jarochita is headed to Japan for REINA on 07/19.

4) Joker © vs Vaquero Jr. [OCCIDENTE MIDDLE]

This was set up two weeks ago (yesterday was the MDA show, which looked packed – hoping for a full recap to turn up, but I don’t think they’ve gotten to the Tuesday show yet, let me start this again)

These matches were all set up two weeks ago, a big show for the local guys who mostly work just the Sunday show. There’s no strong favorite in the mask match. I’d be surprised if Joker lost his title, but Vaquero is the kind of guy who’d beat him and it’s also a title that’s only defended twice a year anyway.

Cirujano and Owen are the latest new names. There’s a Cirujano wrestling regularly in Tonala (20 minutes away), so maybe it’s him. There was actually an Owen who wrestled a bonus match back in 2009. I’m assuming it’s someone new.

great match roundup, week of 2017-06-10

Recaps

I’ve neglected to post this three times already this week. This is a top heavy list. One of these matches is rated on a periscope viewing that’s probably not live any more. Everyone liked Dragon Lee versus Cavernario more than me so maybe you should watch it anyway? These lists are getting long.
