Rob & talk about the upcoming CMLL & AAA big shows, other upcoming events in lucha and good matches we’ve seen lately. Well, he’s seen lately, I’m busy watching Puebla. The podcast goes about 110 minutes. Rob’s connection has some problems in the first part of the podcast and drops out a couple times. It’s better later, though I didn’t do a great job of mixing it. It’s still OK.

Everyone’s mostly just happy that we’re getting Cavernario/Cometa again.
CMLL doing about the same feud in Puebla and Guadalajara at the same time.
Arena Coliseo Guadalajara announced they’ll be running their own Homenaje a Dos Leyendas on March 21st (Tuesday), where Americo Rocca will be honored. Some Mephisto/Caristico match would fit for that show. I still suspect Puebla’s running Policeman/Espiritu Negro soon (03/20) as their own H2L match, maybe with that trios title match.
The Crash announced they’re running Mexico City on 04/05. Rey Mysterio Jr., Cody Rhodes, and Penta el Zero M are announced (and Rey Fenix mentioned this on his Instagram, so put him down as a maybe.) April 5 is a Wednesday, and running a midweek show seems like a way to get these guys on what appears to be later notice than usual. No venue was announced. Cody is working for NJPW, so this another NJPW wrestler working for The Crash instead of CMLL, and now even in CMLL’s home. I think we should just assume CMLL doesn’t care until something comes of it. On the other hand, Crash running Mexico City makes it less likely CMLL guys will return to working those shows any time soon.
Sexy (Star) Dulce says she’s stopping wrestling…after WrestleMania weekend until her first boxing match. She wants to concentrate on boxing leading into her first fight, so she is taking it seriously. Maybe the important info from this is Sexy lists her upcoming date as including Tijuana, which points to her as being the opponent for TNA’s Brooke on The Crash’s 03/25 show as suspected.
Today is International Day of Women. As every year, there’s an interview with CMLL luchadoras about what it’s like to be a women wrestler. As ever year, a luchadora (Zeuxis this year!) notes they don’t get the same spots as men even when they’re having as good or better matches and hopes some day they’ll get to main event a show (outside of a cage match.) As every year, I think CMLL probably should’ve done this already. The Zeuxis/Sugehit title change on a Arena Coliseo show that had nothing else going on obviously should’ve been a main event, if for marketing purposes if no other reason. I think CMLL’s slotting in matches is more based on more general closeminded approach than only sexism – the minis get the same treatment, I’m writing this before next Tuesday’s car is out and there’s a good shot Cavernario/Cometa won’t be main eventing either – but I’d also bet that’s part of it.
Lucha Memes is back in Arena Naucalpan on March 26th for Chairo9. They’re running a lot of shows in a short amount of time, but have managed to keep people interested so far.
The combined Lucha Libre Boom & La Lija de La Justica show on 04/08 in Arena Lopez Mateos will have a Dr. Wagner vs LA Park match, the first since Wagner signed to face Psycho Clown (and not LA Park) in a mask match.
Mistico will be on Discovery Mexico’s Mexicano, a car restoration show in their upcoming season. They’ll be converting a 2005 Mustang into a “Misticmovil”.
Io Shirai says Lucha Underground told her she’s welcome back whenever she wanted. I takes Google Translate to read, but she talks about the dive off the office as part of a larger interview (and photo shoot.)
