Recapped: 02/28/2017
What happened: UG fouled Rush, leading to a singles match next week. Espíritu Maligno and Policeman had problems.
What was good: Nothing. Euforia/Volador was the best thing on the show but clearly not close to the best thing they could be doing.
Where can I watch it: It’s on CMLL’s channel.

- Paris super armdrag Toro Bill (2:04)
- Zaeta Roja casita Rey Apocalispsis (2:18)
Winner: técnicos (2/3)
Match Time: 13:43
Review: [ok] fine enough match that was completely forgettable. This was another Puebla opener where the times were weirdly split between the falls, with the first feeling way too long and the last like they got a surprise go home cue. Paris looked like he was having the better match of the two técnicos until he stumbled in his second fall finish and slipped trying to roll into a celebration. The crowd heckling him was one of the louder reactions of the match. The rudos can’t carry their pre match support into the match and didn’t do much to earn that reaction.
Match 2: Millenium & Robin vs Espíritu Maligno & Policeman
Arena Puebla, 02/27/2017
Video: VideosOficialesCMLL
- técnicos
- Robin powerbomb Espíritu Maligno (7:23)
- Millineium moonsault Policeman (7:33)
- técnicos
- Robin cradle Espíritu Maligno (2:34)
- COR Policeman [dive by Millenium, fight with Espíritu Maligno] (2:56)
Winner: técnicos (1/2)
Match Time: 10:29
Notes: Espíritu & Policeman hit each other by mistake, then started fighting after Robin was eliminated. They took their fight back in the ring, where the other team didn’t care all that much.
Review: [below average] not much of a match, and then a turn that escalated quickly from nothing. Milliemium’s dive as nice, but pretty much everyone looked better than they did here. The post match brawl was good but I can not care about another Policeman feud. I’m sure he’s involved because he has no mask and all the técnicos are masked, but I’d rather them give a random shot to Perverso to see what we have. Policeman’s pretty well explored.
Match 3: Fuego, Oro Jr., Stigma vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Canelo Casas, Puma
Arena Puebla, 02/27/2017
Video: VideosOficialesCMLL
- técnicos
- Oro Jr. top rope frankensteiner Puma (6:25)
- Stigma pin Canelo Casas (6:46)
- rudos
- Canelo Casas springboard splash Fuego (3:14)
- técnicos
- Fuego torito Puma (4:23)
Winner: técnicos (1/3)
Match Time: 14:23
Review: [ok] another match where I had trouble staying into him. I’m not sure what Stigma did to Canelo to beat him in the first fall, and neither did CMLL since they cut it out like a botch. My guess is it was Canelo’s fault, because much of Canelo did didn’t look good. Arkangel was not the worst luchador in this match. Oro & Stigma still do a lot of newbie things.
Match 4: Johnny Idol, Máximo Sexy, Stuka Jr. vs Ephesto, Hechicero, Mephisto
Arena Puebla, 02/27/2017
Video: VideosOficialesCMLL
- rudos
- Hechicero corner knee smash Johnny Idol (3:08)
- Mephisto Devil’s Wings Stuka (3:18)
- técnicos
- Stuka armdrag into a small package Mephisto (3:21)
- Johnny Idol huracanrana Ephesto (3:25)
- rudos
- Ephesto inside cradle Máximo (2:48)
Winner: rudos (1/3)
Match Time: 9:31
Review: [ok] the best of the four undercard trios, though that’s no high recommendation. The rudos winning the third fall by just being a much more effective team than the bumbling técnicos was at least different. Mephisto’s crew was head on every single turn. The crowd the announcers all wincing when Idol accidentally crotches himself on the bottom rope was funny, though it looked like it must’ve sucked the way he crawled back to his corner. Announcers reacted big to Máximo landing on a cord puller on a plancha.
Match 5: Volador Jr. vs Euforia in a lightning match
Arena Puebla, 02/27/2017
Video: VideosOficialesCMLL
Winner: Volador (top rope headscissors)
Match Time: 7:33
Notes: Euforia attacked Volador before he even took three steps to the ring.
Review: [ok] why couldn’t Euforia get the title match and Ephesto the lightning match? There were signs of a really good match here, but the one we got was pretty rushed and harmed for it. They both started selling absurdly big about a minute in. it never felt like more than a bunch of assembled spots, not something that was building to anything. Neither man got to do a lot of what they could do, but Euforia showed he could keep up with Volador and take his big moves with a lot more ease than Ephesto.
Match 6: Carístico, Rush, Valiente vs Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero
Arena Puebla, 02/27/2017
Video: VideosOficialesCMLL
- Guerreros
- Gran Guerrero chokelsam Valiente (7:03)
- Niebla Roja plancha Carístico (7:21)
- técnicos
- Carístico huracanrana Gran Guerrero (2:49)
- Valiente Indian Deathlock Niebla Roja (2:55)
- técnicos
- DQ Último Guerrero [foul to Rush] (4:34)
Winner: técnicos (2/3)
Match Time: 14:50
Notes: Rush demanded a singles match next week.
Review: [ok] another match that just felt slow and less interesting than usual; maybe it’s me? Maybe it’s Puebla. People were walking out the moment the finish happened, but that does happen a fair bit. Último Guerrero versus Rush didn’t feel anything special as a rivalry but for a few moments. They focused on each other the whole match, but no more intensely than the other four guys outside of the chop fest. I’m not at all excited to see them fight next week. This was otherwise a normal main event match, maybe a little less rushed than usual.
