Recapped: 02/27/2017
What happened: Mesias betrayed Pagano, at the cost Pagano missing a dive and Mesias losing the main event. Pagano still didn’t attack Mesias at the end. Super Fly moved out of the way of an Aerostar dive, causing Aero to crash, burn, and hurt his wrist. Mini Psycho pinned Dinastia and wants a title shot. Octagoncito didn’t pin anyway and also wants a title shot. AAA forgot about this as soon as it happened, so no one’s getting a title shot.
Also, I’m pretty sure I ranted about how AAA needs to do stuff to do introduce the many anonymous mid and lower card wrestlers like Mascara de Bronce and they had a feature on Mascara de Bronce today. If only everything worked like that.
There was 24 minutes and 49 seconds of between the bell (well, whistle) ring time on this show.
What was good: I liked the Aerostar/Argenis vs Super Fly/Carta Brava tag match and had a hard time staying interested in the reset.
Where can I watch it: It’s on AAA’s channel.
Previously: Psycho pinned Wagner, which makes them 1-1. (Watching AAA requires you to forget a lot of things.) Pagano & Mesias had issues. And that’s it, I guess.
Upcoming events reveals the 03/31 taping is now in Neza. They also list other cities to come, though they may just be spot show locations – Puebla’s listed despite no being on the list of tapings.
Match 1: Dinastía & Octagoncito vs Mini Psicosis & Mini Psycho Clown
Gimnasio Benito Juárez, Cuautitlán, Estadio de México, 02/11/2017
Winner: rudos (Mini Psycho Clown wheelbarrow suplex Dinastia)
Match Time: 7:01
Notes: Mini Psicosis is a sub for Mini Abismo Negro. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a Mini Psicosis, and this one looks heavier than the last one we saw (as best I can recall.) He blows the first complicated spot Octagoncito tries with him. Mini Psicsois may also have messed up the start of the rudo takeover, I’m not sure what he was doing on that.
Mini Psycho makes belt motions after the match. Octagoncito gets involved and is angry – he wants the title shot too. He storms out.
Review: [ok] disappointing match. Not smooth and with an obvious weekend. Mini Psicosis wasn’t any good. They stayed away from doing much that required trusting him after the first spot went wrong, and he was walking from spot to spot and seems like an obstacle. They didn’t really get going before it was ended too, with the finish looking good but coming out of nowhere in the flow of the match. There’s been much better than this.
Match 2: Aerostar & Argenis vs Carta Brava Jr. & Súper Fly
Gimnasio Benito Juárez, Cuautitlán, Estadio de México, 02/11/2017
Winner: técnicos (Carta Brava hanging double stomp Argenis)
Match Time: 6:28
Notes: Rudos try attacking the técnicos early, to mixed results. Super Fly finds greatest success by moving out of the way of a Brillo Dorado, leaving Aero to crash and burn. Aerostar hurts his wrist badly – it was obviously meant to be an injury spot, but he really ended up hurt. Carta Brava finishes off Argenis quickly, with the numeric advantage really not coming into play. Super Fly taunts Aerostar.
Review: [good] barely a good rating; this was another one where it so much shorter than it needed to be. Why are we getting six minute matches on shows where they have to fill so much time on replays and looking at fans post match? While this lasted, they kept the pace high. Carta Brava doesn’t stick out as an impressive luchador but can take the técnicos moves and keep the match going. Aerostar looked great until he decided to destroy himself. That seems such a waste; they didn’t replay the table angle from the last match, and they probably won’t do much with this either. This seems to set a spot where the same thing happens at Rey de Reyes, which is not the best of things.
Noti AAA
- La Llave de la Gloria press conference. Vampiro press conference.
- Quien es on Mascara de Bronce!
Match 3: Hijo del Fantasma & Texano Jr. vs El Mesías & Pagano
Gimnasio Benito Juárez, Cuautitlán, Estadio de México, 02/11/2017
Winner: tencicos (Fantasma Thrill of the Hunter Mesias)
Match Time: 11:20
Notes: Mesias & Pagano weren’t getting along, though they weren’t fighting for most of the match. Pagano was more playing to the crowd of the two. It takes Fantasma & Texano very long to mount a comeback, considering every rudo spot ended with the rudos glaring at each other or the crowd for about ten seconds. Later, when the rudos take over the match for a second time, Mesias and Pagano have an extensive argument about where to lean a wood panel, moving t back and forth a few times. Of course, Pagano ends up going thru it, but only because Mesias pulls Fantasma out of the way to betray his partner. Mesias goes back in and is easily beat two on one by the técnicos. Pagano and Mesias go face to face, but don’t actually fight. Security jumps in, and Pagano & Mesias fight them both off together., then face off again. They shake hand testily.
Review: [ok] A decent match that felt like a longer version of the CMLL incredible pairs match. Fantasma & Texano looked good, won, and felt like completely afterthoughts to the slow burn on the Pagano/Mesias split. The match was easy to follow when they’d show it. The Camera switching was awful, switching too far away shots when action happened to make it tough to follow. The 3D GIF is a good example, but there was a later spear by Mesias that I wouldn’t have have known what happened if not for the announcers. Pagano seems like an idiot to stay friends with Mesias after he obviously hurt him (and two missed dive spots on a one show is a bit much), but AAA storylines will are nothing but slow and dumb.
After the show recap, there’s an introduction to La Llave de la Gloria video shown – but more like an orientation one that might shown the trainees before they start the day, and an odd thing to air on TV (especially since the contest was over for the day by the time it aired.) It feels like it was left on the TV show by mistake, but it was up on YouTube and aired on TV.
