Zorro to the Crash, CMLL Torneo Increible de Parejas, Diamante Azul/Pierroth

Titan takes out both cave creatures

CMLL (FRI) 02/03/2017 Arena México [CMLL, thecubsfan]
1) Eléctrico & Shockercito b Pequeño Nitro & Pequeño Olímpico
Tecnicos took 1/3
2) Fuego, Pegasso, Soberano Jr. b Disturbio, Okumura, Virus
12:41. Tecnicos took 2/3.
3) Bobby Z, Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora b Drone, Guerrero Maya Jr., Rey Cometa
Revolucionarios took 1/3.
4) Cavernario b Titán [lightning]
Cavernario at 9:44, just before the time limit.
5) Ángel de Oro, Marco Corleone, Máximo Sexy b El Cuatrero, Máscara Año 2000, Sansón
15:53. Tecnicos took 2/3.
6) Atlantis, Diamante Azul, Volador Jr. DQ La Máscara, Pierroth, Rush [Relevos Increíbles]
6:04. Ingobernables were DQed in the first fall after taping Diamante Azul to the ropes. They tied him to the ropes in the second fall, but he ducked out of his mask to foul Pierroth and get the pin. Ingobernbales beat him up again after the match.

I liked the lightning match and what I could see of the tercera. (I didn’t put the link up there because my copy is not useful.) The main event was painful.

CMLL made a couple changes to Tuesday’s Arena Mexico card. Mr. Niebla replaces Negro Casas in the main event, and Soberano Jr. gets a fourth match appearance when he replaces Johnny Idol.

The Crash news

The rest of the lineups are below, but there’s big news in this one

The Crash (SAT) 02/25/2017 Auditorio de Tijuana, Tijuana, Baja California
1) Flamita © vs Séptimo Dragón [The Crash CRUISER]
2) Arkángel Danger, Black Boy, Oraculo vs Black Danger, Tiago, Último Maldito
3) Masada (Texas) & Nicho el Millionario vs Aeroboy & Violento Jack [rancho de texas]
4) Jack Evans, Máscarita Dorada, Willie Mack vs Bestia 666, Juventud Guerrera, Laredo Kid
5) Rey Horuz & Ricochet vs Daga & Fénix El Rey
6) Blue Demon Jr., Garza Jr., Zorro vs Brian Cage, Eli Drake, Jeff Jarrett

Zorro, who’s been in AAA since 2000, appears to have quit. He hasn’t directly confirmed it, but posted an inspirational message on Instagram hinting at it and RT-ed people asking him about this lineup. Zorro’s currently not booked on anything with AAA except for the March TV in Tlaxaca (where Scoria could easily replace him), so they may have known this was a possibility. Adictos el Deportes mentioned he was outside of AAA contract and working on a new one earlier this week. Guess they didn’t get the deal done.

Zorro’s one of the luchadors most associated with AAA, but he actually got his national start under that name in Promo Azteca, just before Konnan started there. He’s also had a stint in CMLL, and used the Zorro name before he came to AAA. It’s also, of course, a character created in 1919 that exists in many other forms besides a profesional luchador. AAA did register “EL ZORRO (EL PROFETA)” way back in 2011, but I don’t think they’d be able to actually stop him from using the name, assuming they could stop anyone from using any name.

Jeff Jarrett isn’t the only guy from TNA, with Eli Drake (as seen in past Lucha World Cups) joining him. Random Trivia: Drake was in Todos x el Todos doing the same Border Patrol sort of gimmick he’ll be doing here, but got a WWE developmental deal. They replaced him in the trio with Brian Cage, in his first Mexico City appearance. That match probably won’t be great but will get good heat.

Blue Demon Jr. did an interview where he says he doesn’t plan on retiring until he at least reaches 40 years of wrestling. He’s 51 now, so he’d be 59 years old at that point. He’s not much good now, so he’ll be – well, whatever. They’re remodeling the Blue Demon store near Arena Mexico and he was signing autographs there last night.

The semimain looks awesome and would sell the show on iPPV alone. Opener should be good. Rancho de Texas (barbed wire) is not my thing but they did get the right people for it.

Fenix says he’s going to wrestle under the name REY FENIX, all caps, no accent marks, and he’s getting everything registered. Or maybe REY FENIX (US) and REY FENIX (EURO). Or maybe everyone’s just going to keep calling him Fenix and AAA will just send legal notes but not actually do anything.

Everything Else

CMLL Coliseo tonight has Euforia, Gran Guerrero and Ultimo Guerrero against La Mascara, Pierroth and Rush in a rudos vs rudos main event.

CaraLucha has the Volador vs Fenix first time ever singles match, as well as Templario defending the “CaraLucha The Best” title against Corsario negro Jr., and Rayo Star & Titan vs Black Terry & Toxin in their veterans/youngsters tournament.

Arena Lopez Mateos has a Rey Hechicero & Solar I vs Caifan & Negro Navarro maestros main event

Emperador Azteca didn’t make the CHIKARA show today, but Fly Warrior replaced him. He did well for himself in a four way elimination match, even while being the second guy out.

Los Revolucionarios said Bobby Z’s name will now be Bobby Villa, in honor of Pancho Villa. I thought they were joking around, but it may be an actual name change.

WWS Women’s Champion Keneisha Moon retired on Tuesday’s Arena Aficion. She just started two years ago, and just won their title on January 14th.

Hiromu Takahashi did a Japanese language interview talking about his experiences in Mexico. He says he worked up to 9 matches a week at times, and didn’t really get/like the style until he matched up with Dragon Lee and it clicked.

+LuchaTV has a new edition of Aqui esta Lucha, talking with LA Park among the highlights.

LuchaWorld has the latest edition of the podcast.

The Torneo Increible de Parejas is back! It’s probably still going to be full of five minutes matches with at least 25% of the partners betraying each other in terrible action. This week will be especially bad because everything is about that Azul & Pierroth team. (Notable, the Panther/Ripper thing seems to have been dropped at the same time that started. Maybe it’ll be back, but I dunno.)  This is good news, only in that I got a ticket for AAW, not sure if I’d be able to use it if CMLL had something worthwhile next Friday. They most definitely will not, it’ll be the second part of this mess. Caristico/Mephisto, Cavernario/Volador, Azul/Pierroth are the teams with actual chances.

Astral makes his CMLL debut by…teaming with the other guy who was just in the minis division who has lost every single match since he’s been moved up. It may be a long road for Astral to get anywhere.

IWRG (WED) 02/08/2017 Arena Naucalpan
1) Kanon vs Acero
2) Omega vs Adrenalina
3) Diablo Jr. vs Aramis, Araña de Plata, Alfa, Shadow Boy
4) Black Dragón, Chicano, Pantera I vs Hip Hop Man, Violencia Jr., Vortice
5) Dragón Fly vs Demonio Infernal
6) Leo, Mike, Rafy, Teelo vs Demasiado, Diva Salvaje, Miss Gaviota, Nigma

Tortugas Ninjas vs Exoticos. Demonio Infernal gets a big match against the guy who unmasked him. Guessing the other Argentina guys are finishing up this weekend if not on these cards.

Muchas Luchas (SAT) 02/25/2017 Arena Roberto Paz, Guadalajara, Jalisco
1) Black Golden, Implacable, Paymon Dark vs Ivan Drago, La Trakalosa, Nexus Fly
2) Estrella Oriental vs Rey Plata
3) Alex & Demasiado vs Crazy King & Histeria 2.0
4) Brian Villa & Willy Banderas vs Joker & Sádico
5) Rayman vs Gallo
6) Makabre vs Black Terry

Guadalajara’s super indie returns with come Jalisco vs CMLL matches. (The main event is one too, if you think of Arena Coliseo Tag Champ Black Terry as a CMLL guy for the moment.)
