What happened: On Day 1 of the tour, many outcomes set up challengers for later shows (though Máximo beat Hechicero before their title match.)
What was good: The third and fourth matches were the best on the show. The event was generally watchable, though not as good as the NJPW World shows. Even when good, the matches also often felt like shorter warmup versions of later matches.
Where can I watch it: It’s on the Real Hero archive.
I’m watching this last, though this as the first show to actually take place.Read More
CMLL (SUN) 01/29/2017Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [CMLL]
1) Micro b Quca Micro took 1/3.
2) Black Sugar, Capitán Cobra, El Yaqui b Carlo Roggi, Guerrero de la Muerte, Mr. Iguana Tecnicos took 1/3. Mr. Iguana’s return (last match October 2015), now as a rudo.
3) El Alteño, Javier Cruz Jr., Nautilius DQ Demonio Rojo, Linterna, Mr. Brisa Tecnicos took 2/3. Nautilius was hurt and the rudos were DQed for excessive violence
4) Furia Roja b Sádico [lightning] Furia Roja took 1/3, the last using the ropes to beat Sadico.
5) Explosivo, Gallo, Mágico b Exterminador, Gran Kenut, Joker Tecnicos took 2/3. Freezer ran into hit Joker, which helped the rudos win. Freezer & Furia Roja attacked Joker until Sadico made the save. Hair match challenges followed.
Again, the Guadalajara Sunday booking makes sense (so it’s not the usual people doing it.)
CMLL (MON) 01/30/2017Arena Puebla [CultIcon, Plantilla Deportiva]
1) Meyer, París, Tigre Rojo Jr. b Ares, El Malayo, Sombra Diabólika Tecnicos took 2/3.
2) Demus 3:16, Mini Joker, Pierrothito b Acero, Aéreo, Asturiano Rudos took 2/3.

Middle matches were OK, main event was not. CMLL seems to be starting a feud in week 1 and switching to a different one in week 2 more often. Being more unpredictable doesn’t necessarily make them better.
Today’s Arena Mexico show is a normal CMLL show, though it has some promising matches. Caristico continues to main event a lot of shows, this time teaming with Valiente & Stuka against the returning Euforia, Ultimo Guerrero and Rey Bucanero. Bucanero and Stuka were having a perfectly random feud last week, which may or may continue this week. The semimain is one of the best reoccuring CMLL trios matches, with the Panther family against the Casas family again. We’re all waiting for CMLL to screw it up and have the Casas family lose as a trio before they get their (long overdue) trios title shot, and tonight might be the night.
The women are up to the fourth spot, with Marcela, Sugehit, and Jarochita versus Tiffany, Isis and Metalica. Triton and Raziel meet in a lightning match. As usual with Tuesdays, the first two matches look poor: Robin, Flyer and Sensei attempt to face Arkangel, Metalico and Sangre Azteca. Magia Blanca & Sangre Imperial face Grako & El Coyote in the opener. CMLL’s finally started to put the new guys in the opener, and this would be much more exciting news if the new guys they had around last year were still around.
The show will air CMLL’s YouTube channel at 7:30pm (though the Tuesday feed has started a few minutes late sometimes.)
LigerFever has a recap of the lastest Podcast Boom. There’s some talk about the Crash trying to get television, and Konnan notes the guys who jump trust him enough to go there before they have it. Roberto Figueroa and Aldo Farias‘ otherwise unexplained comments about TV networks not yet realizing the ratings power of wrestling seems like the TV thing is something they’re still having to sell TV networks on.
A surprise luchador is being advertised for the Crash. Seeing as they haven’t announced the lineup yet, this is not especially useful information, most of the card is a surprise at this point. In possibility related news, there were rumors about Niño Hamburguesa leaving AAA last fall, which didn’t end up going anywhere at that point, but he’s not being listed on AAA shows even with AAA using anyone they can to fill out shows. He could be the surprise luchador, or he could just be out with an injury.
La Rebelion with have a press conference on 02/20 in Monterrey. That’s the day after the next Llaves y Candaados show, which is supposed to end with a La Rebelion announcement. They’re obviously announcing a show, and we’ll get an official date and maybe even a card quick.
Halcon 78, who has been used as filler on some AAA house shows, wants a mask vs hair match with Joe Lider.
AAW announced Hijo del Fantasma versus Low-Ki for their 02/17 show. It’s a big test for Fantasma’s first match in the US indie spehre. 4Fantasma is the current AAA Cruiserweight champion and this will probably be more interesting than any singles match he’ll have in AAA this year.
There’s a new box y lucha commissioner in Nuevo Laredo. All the “there’s a new box y lucha commissioner” stories are only getting linked to at this point so I can go back and figure out when they were put in charge if something crazy happens.
Lineups
CMLL (SUN) 02/05/2017Arena México
1) Leono, Magnus, Marvel vs Apocalipsis, Espíritu Negro, Inquisidor
2) Blue Panther Jr., Stigma, The Panther vs Cancerbero, Canelo Casas, Skándalo
3) Blue Panther, Johnny Idol, Stuka Jr. vs Hechicero, Sam Adonis, Vangellys
4) Diamante Azul, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Rey Bucanero, Shocker, Terrible
5) Carístico vs Negro Casas
This is possibly a better VOD show, only Caristico/Negro Casas just aired in Puebla for free. It was good, but nothing you need to see a second time in a month for a cost. (Volador/Caristico vs Casas/Shocker for the tag titles is probably both an easier to market match and a worse quality one.)
Espiritu Negro resurfaces in CMLL for the first time since August. He hasn’t even been seen in Queretaro of late.
CMLL (MON) 02/06/2017Arena Puebla
1) Arkalis, Hijo de Centella Roja, Meyer vs El Malayo, Fuerza Chicana, Perverso
2) La Jarochita, La Vaquerita, Marcela vs Dalys, La Seductora, Zeuxis
3) Drone, Esfinge, Soberano Jr. vs Okumura, Puma, Tiger
4) Máximo Sexy, Stuka Jr., Titán vs Cavernario, Felino, Negro Casas
5) Pierroth, Rush, Volador Jr. vs Diamante Azul, Euforia, Valiente [Relevos Increíbles]
maybe Rush/Diamante Azul are feuding now? Maybe the Pierroth/Azul feud comes here too? Maybe this is the usual Puebla card where the middle matches might be good and not much else?
