Rudos took 1/3, Casas sneaking in a foul on Maximo.

Second straight day where Casas snuck in a foul on someone to win in the last trios match of the night. I guess there’s worst people you could do it with. I’ve seen the first half of this show so far, and was half paying attention to the main event. You don’t really need to see the first half of this card (though the women’s match was not the disaster it could’ve been.) Sagrado/Triton sounds like it was the best match.

A CMLL article talks about, after defeating La Mascara in Puebla, Volador will be going into FantasticaMania as champion. The article then ends saying they have no idea if Volador will actually defend the title on the tour. That’s about as helpful as I am. The lineups are expected to be out in the next two days.

Lucha Underground tonight is episode 18 of the season, “Evil Rising”. Matches scheduled:

  • Mariposa vs Sexy Star (open)
  • Paul London, Mala Suerte, Saltador vs Vibora, Pindar, Kobra Moon
  • Johnny Mundo (c) vs the Mack for the Lucha Underground Championship.

This is the second to last episode of the newly invented half season. Someone who asked LU writer Chris DeJoseph got a “go ask El Rey” answer about when LU would return for Season 3 Part 2, but later said he was told but couldn’t remember. That does give us that there’s an actual plan here, just one El Rey hasn’t been much interested in communicating; there’s been no mention of the midseason finale outside of the commercial.

I have an unconfirmed idea of when the show will be back; my impression is it’ll be along the same lines as the break between season 2 and season 3. That was 6 weeks. It’s probably a little longer this time, but not much.

You’ll know what the big deal is for episode #20, which would be second half premiere, by the end of this episode.

AAA is doing a media day for Guerra de Titanes. There probably will be stories from that tomorrow, but nothing much interesting has been said the last few; it’s purpose is to remind people they exist and they’re running a show. Doesn’t look like there was a fight to set up a match this time.

Lucha Memes announced they’re running Chairo 8 on 01/29 in Arena Naucalpan. It’ll be the third straight week for them to run the building, so it must be working for them. First match announced
1: Hechicero vs Dr. Cerbero

Post match interviews from the Arena Neza cage match show Joe Lider with just the sides of his head cut like a normal hair cut. It’s enough hair so Pagano can triumphantly post about the hair he won, but it’s the definition of a fraud. (Really, even if he got his head shaved five minutes after that video ends, not doing the hair cut stipulation in front of the fans is not giving them what they paid for.) As Rob pointed out on Twitter, he’s probably planning to lose the rest of it in Arena Aficion in a couple weeks.

Cross Arm Breaker reviews Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Canis Lupus.

Ultimo Dragon announced DragonMania will take place May 27th. It’ll be his 30th anniversary as a wrestler and he’s invited Jun Akiyama to return.

The president of the Tepic Box Y Lucha commission says there’s not any lucha libre fans in Tepic, and the luchadors aren’t much good either. I’m not the most negative person today! Super Calo is opening a school there soon, which seems like it’d help.

Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 01/10/2017 Arena México
1) Fantasy & Stukita vs Mercurio & Pequeño Olímpico
2) Oro Jr., Príncipe Diamante, Robin vs Cancerbero, Disturbio, Grako
3) Blue Panther Jr., Pegasso, Stigma vs Forastero, Okumura, Virus
4) Dragón Lee, Stuka Jr., Titán vs Ephesto, Hechicero, Niebla Roja
5) Máximo Sexy vs Negro Casas
6) Atlantis, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero

They did do a feud! Just a quick one, since Maximo is off to Japan sometime after this show. This is nearly FantasticaMania Day 0 given all the people scheduled for this show who are on the tour.  Five in the main event, Maximo, everyone but Niebla Roja in the tercera, Blue Panther and Okumura in the segunda. They’re saving a lot of people who will still be around for Friday bookings.

CMLL (TUE) 01/10/2017 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Sky Kid & Smaker vs Frezzer & Furia Roja
2) Leono, Magnum, Sensei vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Inquisidor, Rey Trueno
3) Esfinge, Fuego, Tritón vs Puma, Sagrado, Tiger
4) Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther, Valiente vs Bobby Z, Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora
5) Carístico, Diamante Azul, Marco Corleone vs Cavernario, Felino, Mephisto

Speaking of people who will be around: Diamante Azul is back. Not so excited for that. Tercera seems really fun for the people who get to see it.
