Skip this show. I was able to watch just the main event live and then speed thru the rest, and it was the smartest decision I’ve made all month.

Today’s CMLL bodybuilding competition. It is definitely a thing that is happening. Yep. It’ll be streamed on YouTube like everything else, but the link isn’t up yet.

Lucha Underground 3×12 is “Every Woman is Sexy, Every Woman is a Star”, new champion Sexy Star’s catch phrase. Items announced

  • Sexy Star (c) vs Johnny Mundo for the Lucha Underground Championship
  • Dante Fox vs Killshot
  • the Rabbit Tribe debuts
  • sometimes with the Black Lotus Tribe
  • something with Jeremiah Crane & Catrina

The Rabbit Tribe took a while to get to the Temple, but I believe they’ll go right into action tonight. You may have to way a little bit longer for the Black Lotus Tribe to get in the ring again, but they could use a longer introduction.

I’ve been kinda wondering if Crane showing up soon after Ivelisse challenged Catrina for Ultima Lucha was coincidental, or if maybe Catrina had some plan in motion. Maybe that’s not right, and Catrina will just work on Crane now that he’s there.

The Sexy Star title reaction/attention seems to have come and gone within 48 hours. Sexy Star posted a couple statements in English and Spanish on social media, but doesn’t appear to have been put out there to do any interviews to promote this, and it doesn’t seem to have gotten any ‘mainstream’ coverage in the places which cover wrestling. Maybe some stuff will roll out as I write this to be timed with the episode, but it seems more likely to have just been ignored or swallowed up by WWE coverage. The best followup to the win was the online exclusive clip of Sexy Star reacting to the win, which was well done that it’s a shame that it was something just posted online (and just mentioned once or twice on social media.) That clip has about 13K views, about a 1/3rd of the Rey Mysterio match posted and half as much Sexy’s match with Mundo. The writers have been very clear that they did this title change because they thought it made sense in the stories they’re telling, but if there was any aspect to this to try to get a light shined on their program, it doesn’t seem to have worked.

The rating for tonight’s show would be a good way to see the reaction to the title change, but they’ve ended up with a poor week for a big show. The Wednesday before US Thanksgiving is not a great day for TV viewership. The number could be down, and it could be just as much about people being otherwise busy as the title change. (The number also probably be delayed due to the holiday.)

CultIcon has a Lucha Underground preview

La Capital MX interviews lucha libre fanatic Chabelo and Euforia about their relationship in wrestling. Euforia’s well known to be one of the mask makers/costumers around CMLL, and he’s specifically mentioned as coming up with  the first Sin Cara mask. (Does that means he knew Caristico was going to WWE before CMLL did? They could mean something else, it’s easy to get confused.) There were only two mask makers when Euforia was coming up, they were expensive, and Euforia’s mom created wedding dresses so all sorts of sowing equipment was around, but he was afraid his father would concerned it unmanly. So, Euforia worked late at night, and didn’t tell his father until he completed his first mask.

Taya lost in her title challenge in Stardom. Thunder Rosa didn’t fare any better. Odd the title matches are at the start of the tour. Rush lost to Adam Page in the World Tag League, so it was a rough day for Mexico in Japan.

LigerFever translates the first part of a Konnan’s interview with Juventud Guerrera, talking about the early portion of his career.

LuchaWorld has the latest Lucha Report.

Kcidis draws this week’s big winners.

A video feature on Zeuxis, Marcela and Dalys.

The Gladiatores talks to Psycho Clown, Pentagon, Daga and Mamba about traveling to Japan.

There’s a lucha libre tour of Mexico City on Sunday.

Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 11/29/2016 Arena México
1) Bengala & Leono vs Apocalipsis & Grako
2) Astral, Eléctrico, Último Dragóncito vs Mercurio, Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Olímpico
3) Fuego vs Arkángel de la Muerte [lightning]

5) Blue Panther, Guerrero Maya Jr., Rey Cometa vs Ephesto, Luciferno, Ripper
6) Ángel de Oro, Dragón Lee, Mistico vs Mephisto, Shocker, Vangellys

A show. The Mascara 2000 stuff doesn’t get followed up at all, so they probably just did a DQ to do a DQ. Maybe the fourth match is the best match?

CMLL (TUE) 11/29/2016 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Capitán Cobra & Fugaz vs Linterna & Mr. Apolo
2) Robin, Soberano Jr., Stigma vs Nitro, Okumura, Sangre Azteca
3) Esfinge, Stuka Jr., Titán vs Bobby Z, Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora
4) Diamante Azul, Marco Corleone, Máximo Sexy vs Kráneo, Rey Bucanero, Terrible
5) Carístico vs Negro Casas

They did this main event match in Arena Mexico earlier this year on an untelevised Sunday show.
