Recapped: 11/15/2016
What happened: Nothing? Blue Panther Jr. & Sansón had random issues. Drone remains personally unbeaten. Nothing major.
What was good: Panthers/Dinamitas is good and Maya/Virus is what you’d expected out of them for a main event. There were parts of the two top matches that were good.
Where can I watch it: It’s on CMLL’s channel.

Review: [below average] I watched this to get an idea of Sangre Imperial and that seemed to be a waste of time. I didn’t think he was bad as Rob and other people did, and working with Apocalipsis in a Tuesday opener is pretty close to as bad a shot to get starting out, but it was also no great loss to put him in this position. Sangre Imperial didn’t show anything and just seemed to be yet another colorless tasteless luchador like substance produced by the CMLL wrestling factory. Too bad.

Match Time: 12:45
Review: [good] energetic match that seemed to be only showing us some of what they could do while leaving plenty more to show in future matches. The Dinamtias as a trio showed great team work on offense and fed into the técnicos moves. The Panther seemed to be moving faster than usual, and his last two topes were great. The surprise outcomes in the first fall were were a nice usual Blue Panther twist and added to the unpredictability of the second fall (though I would’ve like to see the rudos sell the surprise loss a bit more – it didn’t seem to bother them as much as you’d think.)
Match 4: Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Virus in a lightning match
Arena México, 11/08/2016
Video: VideosOficialesCMLL
Winner: Guerrero Maya (Sacrifica Maya)
Match Time: 7:32
Review: [good] Interesting chess match; the last couple foe exchanges, as Maya fought for the Sacarifica Maya twice and Virus was only able to maneuver to something else once, was especially clever. I’m never quite satisfied by these lightning matches via mat guys, because, like the last match, it feels like there’s so much more to than they have time. Virus breaking out a headscissors to the floor was very different, but there wasn’t the moment for the ringspot armdrag I wanted to see, and there wasn’t as much early ground game as I could’ve gone for. This was still a strong match without out more, as strong as Guerrero Maya’s dive.
Match 5: Blue Panther, Drone, Titán vs Felino, Niebla Roja, Ripper
Arena México, 11/08/2016
Video: VideosOficialesCMLL
- rudos
- Felino reverse figure four Blue Panther (4:35)
- técnicos
- Felino kneeling crab Titan (3:00)
- Drone casadora cradle Ripper (4:00)
- técnicos
- Drone elbow lock Felino (4:36)
- Titan figure four Niebla Roja (6:28)
Winner: técnicos (2/3)
Match Time: 15:03
Review: [ok] really dragged the first two falls and was salvaged quite a bit when the tecnicos got in control. The rudos didn’t bring a lot of energy to this, but Drone and Titan were flying around when they had a shot. Drone remains totally protected, not even losing early falls. It’s jarring when CMLL does something like this, because the details don’t seem to matter to them all that much otherwise.
Match 6: Dragón Lee, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Vangellys
Arena México, 11/08/2016
Video: VideosOficialesCMLL
- rudos
- Tormento Guerrero on all the técnicos (3:57)
- tecnicos
- Volador superkick/inside cradle Rey Bucanero (2:07)
- Dragon Lee double stomp Vangellys (2:07)
- tecnicos
- La Mistica on Terrible (4:50)
Winner: tecnicos (2/3)
Match Time: 10:54
Review: [ok] I didn’t expect much, this is probably a match I would’ve skipped had it been a semimain, it just feels too weird to skip a main event. This was better than you’d expect with the names, with a lot of técnico spots to send the crowd home happy. The double tope con giro spot at the end looked great. The second fall ending with a big more awkward, with Rey Bucanero taking a superkick and staggering around as a setup for a backcracker that wasn’t coming, and Dragon’s double stomp to Vangellys back because he couldn’t (or didn’t want to) hang from the ropes. Lee’s double stomp looked really light, maybe because he just wasn’t used to it. Wish they could give these guys people their own speed to work with, but this could’ve been worse.
