AAA on Televisa: 2016-10-29

this is a finish
this is a finish

Recapped: 11/10/2016

What happened: New alliances were formed: the Team Trump Invaders & the Traidors (Pagano, Wagner, Monster, Murder) are on one side, with various AAA tecnicos and rudos on the other side. Pentagon allied the Perros del Mal with the AAA side at the end of the show. Also, Mini Psycho Clown beat Dinastia and signaled for a title match.

What was good: I liked the minis match for how long it lasted. I didn’t think much of the last match but it felt like an effective angle.

Where can I watch it: It’s on AAA’s channel, much better than mine.

Previously: OGT beat up the Apaches. Super Fly got a win. OGT beat the Xinetez.

AAA Rewind looks back at various death/horror related characters, leading to (the current) La Parka.

Match 1: Dinastía & Octagoncito vs Mini Histeria & Mini Psycho Clown

Winner: rudos (Mini Psycho Clown frontcracker Dinastia)
Match Time: 5:47
Notes: Mini Psycho Clown repeatedly signaled for a title match after his win.

Review: [good] very fast paced match for as long as it lasted, it really just didn’t last long enough; they packed 12 minutes of moves in 6 minutes. It’s hard to figure how they only got six minutes of ring time, especially when there’s about half as long time spent after the match just showing people reacting and replay. It didn’t leave enough time for anything to develop. The rudos came out strong, but then it was just suddenly the tecnicos turn without any build up. Mini Psycho Clown/Dinastia was the match set up at the end, but they really worked the other match ups until the finish. Mini Psycho seemed more impressive in previous appearances, but was just OK here.

this doesn’t seem optimum but it worked

been a while since we got some good Dinastia hand walking

Match 2: Garza Jr. & Hijo del Fantasma vs Brian Cage & El Mesías

Winner: rudos (Mesias Flatliner Garza)
Match Time: 10:29
Notes: Fantasma brings his title with him. Post match, he says everyone (técnicos & rudos, Mexico City & Monterrey) are united against Trump.

Review: [ok] The rudos always jumping the técnicos hurts these matches; we “know” the match isn’t going to end until the técnicos get to do something. The match and crowd didn’t really come alive until the técnicos made their comeback, which is part due to that stretcher and part due to the rudos not really doing anything interesting for the first five minutes of the match. (They could’ve fit in another minis match with that time!) Crowd likes Garza’s look but didn’t care a whole lot about the rest of this team; Fantasma should be more over than he is, but the never explained técnico turn hurt him as much as Texano. They’re both just generic guys at the moment, and he would’ve been better off doing his promo before the match than after. Garza Jr. giving the stop sign to a non-moving opponent is peak annoying Garza. The Cage powerbomb into the corner to set up a Mesias Flatliner is a cool idea for a combo, but came across slowly in.

Noti AAA

  • Dia de Muertos remembrances of deceased luchadors: Antonio Pena, Abismo Negro, Hector Garza, Perro Aguayo Jr., El Brazo, Art Barr, Eddie Guerrero, Black Cat, Texano, and Masakre
  • Replay of the fire spot from Heroes Inmortales, cut along with Dr. Wagner posing with Psycho Clown’s mask.
  • And more of the evil clowns celebrating as Psycho Clown is stretchered away.
  • And to Psycho Clown in the hospital, where the burns look even uglier and widespread. His skin looks charred. His doctor talks about the situation. Psycho Clown cuts a promo on Wagner and the evil clowns from his hospital bed (with a surgical mask covering his face.)

Match 3: La Parka, Psycho Clown, & Texano Jr. vs Dr. Wagner Jr., Pagano, Pentagón Jr.
Plaza de Toros Jorge Gutierrez, Tlahuelilpan, Hidalgo, 10/14/2016

Winner: tecnicos (La Parka & Texano pin Dr. Wagner & Pagano)
Match Time: 7:03
Notes: Psycho Clown tries to participate in his match, but the doctor follows him and insists he goes to the back. Psycho Clown’s right shoulder is still very visibly messed up. Psycho Clown ignores them, tells the crowd about his burns, but says he’s crazy so he’ll wrestle anyway. Rudos attack, and Psycho rolls out quickly, protecting his shoulder. The doctor and AAA security are able to back Psycho Clown off. Technically, Psycho Clown was in the match, so I guess that’s very slightly not false advertising.

Pentagon’s willing to be friendly with the rudos early on, but Pagano and Wagner cut him off for using the lasso on Texano. Pentagon repays them by pulling Parka away from them. They continue to argue until Parka punches them – that unifies the team into hitting Parka for just a moment. Pentagon gets annoyed again at the other two, and starts rolling out Texano and Parka to prevent Pagano & Wagner from getting anything more in. Wagner and Pagano set up a contrived chair spot with Texano, but Texano doesn’t want any part of it and gets off the chairs to take a flying legdrop instead. The rudos slowly set up top rope moves on the tecnicos, and Psycho Clown runs back in to distract. The doctor very slowly follows. Psycho hits the rudos and referee Piero with this belt. Everyone lays around four about five seconds, then Texano and Parka cradle Wagner and Pagano, and somehow this is enough to keep them down.

Psycho leaves the ring after getting the in, having been careful never to take a pin. Parka and Texano say in the ring, and Mesias and Cage rush in to attack them for them. Pentagon runs in, and Mesias decides he’s an enemy, smacking Pentagon before Pentagon really has a chance to pick a side. Fantasma and Garza run out, and clean house, including taking out Pagano and Wagner as they try to get involved. Psycho gets in a belt shot on Wagner on the outside but otherwise stays out of it until the rudos have left. Pentagon’s left in the ring with the others. Fantasma threatens the foreigners and the traitors. Mesias mocks him. Texano demands Wagner remove the Mexican colors for his mask for allying with the foreigners and says the Mexicans will have all the belts. Psycho threatens Wagner, Pagano, Murder and Monster, promising he’ll have surprises for them. Pentagon asks for the mic, swears at Pagano & Wagner, says he’ll have his revenge on the Invaders, and agrees with Fantasma statement about the tecnicos and rudos getting together. Just when you think Pentagon’s going to get the last word, Parka does some rah rah Mexico stuff to end the segment.

Review: [below average] match was nothing but the angle, and they could’ve gotten to it a little faster. They did do a skilled job of getting Psycho Clown out there without putting him at risk of being hurt. Finish was so ridiculous that something surely must have not come together and this was a weak attempt to improvise. The match itself wasn’t any good, but the post match promos were really good at building up the new direction. It helps if they follow up on it.
