CMLL Martes de Nuevo Valores: 2016-10-18

Maya tope con giro
Maya tope con giro

Recapped: 11/05/2016

What happened: The main event ended with a trios title challenge. That’s still a couple weeks away. Drone debuted.

What was good: The Drone match was the best match on the show, but this was mostly a lot of competently boring matches to please tourists.

Where can I watch it: It’s on CMLL’s channel.

    • Pegaso 450 splash Okumura (5:02)

Winner: técnicos (1/3)
Match Time: 15:01

Review: [ok] shortened version of the usual match; something probably a lot better on a Friday and higher up the card, but they did allow them to do a little but at the end. It’s too bad they all had to move down to the segunda to get Disturbio in this mix, because he fits in with these guys (and would fit in if they did more with him.) First fall finish was really sudden and Virus was not a big presence int his match. Pegasso landed one of his 450 splashes, hooray.

Match 3: Star Jr. vs Skándalo in a lightning match

Winner: Skandalo (Skandalo Driver)
Match Time: 6:39
Notes: Star Jr. may have concussed himself on his moonsault to the floor, when the back for his head smacked into the barricade. Maybe they can put some padding there. Skandalo winning is more amusing than his matches.

  2. rudos
    • Misterioso Gori Special/Sagrado heel kick to the head Angel de Oro (4:11)
  3. técnicos
    • Angel de Oro mecedora Misterioso (4:58)
    • Drone rope flip moonsault Hechicero (5:57)

Winner: técnicos
Match Time: 14:41

Review: [good] a solid debut for Drone, who got victories and got to work with Hechicero for most of the match. His Bala moves are a lot more dynamic, and hopefully some of those make them back now that they’ve admitted his moves, but CMLL just giving him a shot is nice to see. Trusting Hechicero with a guy they’re trying to get over is no big surprise, but this is a reminder than as much as Misterioso and Sagrado are bumbling fools, they;re bumbling fools that CMLL seems to trust in these sort of matches. Guerrero Maya, who didn’t get much to do here, seemed less enthused about Drone’s debut than Angel de Oro.

Match 5: Atlantis, Stuka Jr., Valiente vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Vangellys

  1. TGR
    • Rey Bucanero kick to the thigh Valiente (3:57)
    • Vangellys cradle suplex Stuka Jr. (4:14)
  2. técnicos
    • Stuka torpedo splash Vangellys & Rey Bucanero (1:45)
  3. técnicos
    • Valiente Indian Deahtlock Terrible (3:52)

Winner: técnicos (2/3)
Match Time: 9:51

Review: [ok] I’ve run out of way “solid match that felt like many others; entertained the tourist crowd if not me”, I need some sort of short hand. Atlantis had the most trouble ever getting up Rey Bucanero for the quebradora and I don’t believe that’s an Atlantis issue. Valiente and Terrible matched up OK and are now about the same size.

Match 6: Diamante Azul, Máscara Dorada, Mistico vs Ephesto, Luciferno, Mephisto
Arena México, 10/18/2016

  1. técnicos
    • Diamante Azul German suplex Luciferno (4:32)
    • Mistico huracanrana Ephesto (4:32)
  2. técnicos
    • DQ Mephisto [foul Mascara Dorada] (6:56)

Winner: técnicos (1/2)
Match Time: 11:28
Notes: Mascara Dorada demanded a trios title match next week, though the audio was so bad that it was very hard to tell at ifrst.

Review: [ok] one more average match to end the show. The last portion was really walked thru to an unappealing degree. Mascara Dorada actually didn’t look good on the running ramp headscissors, that’s never happened before. Diamante Azul looked clumsy and brutish, especially in the first fall.
