Recapped: 10/08/2016
What happened: Rey Escorpión pinned Carístico, who got hurt along the way. Cibernético attacked a ref again. Black Tauro debuted.
What was good: I liked the second match. Other people might like the main event better but it was stuff I was very tired of seeing.
Where can I watch it: It’s on the Liga Elite channel and my own
Match 1: El Bandido, Golden Magic, Último Ninja vs Argos, Hijo De Dos Caras, Karonte Jr.

- Karonte Jr. middle rope senton Golden Magic (2:04)
Winner: rudos (1/3)
Match Time: 14:12
Notes: Hijo de Dos Caras rips off Golden Magic’s shoulder sleeve and completely exposes Hijo del Ninja’s face ot the camera while pulling his mask (which is more an issue with the production not switching cameras.) Elite is apparently doing the over the top DQ rule, which was not made clear until the rudos did the press slam bit on Golden Magic. The cameras completely miss Dos getting the pin in the second fall live, and for no real reason. It seems like they’re missing more shots in the third but I’ve long since given up. They definitely miss the comeback – the técnicos are just inexplicably back in control after getting beat for about 10 minutes. It lasts about ten seconds, Argos gives Ultimo Ninja backcracker Ninja tries to kick out a three but kicks out early, and the cameras are completely confused as Argos keeps on top for three. The rudos jut keep doing moves to Bandido for a couple minutes after the other two have been pinned, because somehow they didn’t get in all their offense despite taking 90% of the match. This is not a DQ. The referee counts another pin, but whatever.
Review: [bad] so this was a showcase for the rudos and the rudos are really quite bad, so this was really quite bad. The best rudo in this match was Ultimo Ninja, who wrestled as a técnico. Argos started poor and maintained that level throughout. Argos & Hijo de Karonte struggled to perform the front cracker/wheelbarrow suplex bit Fujin/Raijin were doing with ease. They are not as good as Fujin & Raijin! I can’t quite figure out what we’re supposed to think of Golden Magic & Bandido, who get utterly squashed on the odd weeks and big wins on the week – though, in this case, especially with how it just kept on going and how Argos seems to cut off the técnicos way early to get in his backbreaker, I’m very willing to believe this was the rudos doing whatever they wanted because they’re untouchable.

Match Time: 11:56
Review: [good] This was a fun, energetic match. There were some flaws (like that one wildly missed dropkick in the first fall) and Fresero Jr. still seems to be killing people, but they also worked much better with the técnicos than most of the rudos on this show. Eterno needs to be around Elite more often. Leon Dorado looked better in this one than his previous matches.
Match 3: Black Tauro, Cibernético, Sharlie Rockstar vs Decnnis, Mr. Águila, Zumbido

- DQ Cibernético [Mr. Aguila foul] (7:08)
Winner: Team Guapo (2/3)
Match Time: 16:26
Notes: Announcers wonder why Black Tauro is in white. It’s a fine question. Gaupos and Aguila are faces this week. Cibernético fouled Mr. Aguila, then fouled the referee after getting called for the DQ. Mr. Aguila makes some challenge that’s edited out.
Review: [ok] the good news is Black Tauro looked great with Decnnis & Zumbido, so he’s could be outstanding here against people who aren’t actually rudo. (Zumbido & Decnnis seemed slightly surprised about how well things were going at times; I don’t think they were seeking out Machine Rocker matches.) This match itself didn’t really come to anything. Sharlie tried hard and sold big for Guapito’s headscissors, but Cibernético is not made for matches like this. The toss into a chokeslam spot would’ve looked great if Cibernético got the timing right, but he did not as often he does not. Cibernético is going to end up cheered bigger if he keeps beating a referee a week, which is likely the idea.
Match 4: Carístico & Xtreme Tiger vs LA Park & Rey Escorpión

- Carístico La Mistica LA Park (4:56)
- rudos
- Rey Escorpion Aguijon Mortal Carístico (9:39)
Winner: rudos (1/3)
Match Time: 22:17
Notes: The barrier between the fans and the ringside area this week is a thing but solid piece of cardboard. LA Park & Rey Escorpión remove a section and use it to break over Caristico’s head. Rudos use LA Park’s belt on Tiger and Carístico, then have he ref do it too, just if you want to know the moment they lost me. (This gets edited out with a crowd shot, and they go back and show it anyway.) Ref cuts the técnicos off from dives later on, but has no problem counting pins. Carístico shoves down the ref after he awards the second fall win. Caristico’s knee hits the ropes in a bad way on a rope flip spot. He’s in a lot of pain and pretty much done on that point, and Tiger and Escorpión have a couple minute match (which is pretty good.) Escorpion throws Tiger out so Park can throw him thru a wood panel, and Carístico manage to come back into take the Aguijon Mortal.
Review: [ok] the last few minutes were looking good until Carístico got hurt (and even after that, Tiger/Escorpion was pretty good.) It just took forever to get to that level, and it was a meandering LA Park brawl until that point. It’s very slow, predictable and uninteresting violence if you’ve seen enough LA Park, and not with the intensity or interest to carry it. There are some good visuals, like Carístico and Tiger getting buried by chairs, but then they’re just back up and fine a few seconds later so it’s tough to care all that much. The random rudo bits are a LA Park staple and did nothing to help the match either. Escorpión getting clean pins, something Caristico forced himself to get back in the ring for despite being in obvious pain, is the clearest sign that there’s an apuesta match coming.
