Star Black, new champion
Star Black, new champion

CMLL (SAT) 09/24/2016 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Astral & Último Dragóncito b Pequeño Nitro & Pequeño Violencia
2) Magnus, Marvel, Robin b El Coyote, Grako, Nitro
Drako was replaced by Grako (or they just changed Grako’s name for one week.) Tecnicos took 2/3.
3) Estrellita, Marcela, Skadi b Dalys, Reyna Isis, Tiffany
tecnicas took 1/3
4) Kráneo, Pólvora, Sam Adonis b Guerrero Maya Jr., Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr.
Rudos took 1/3. Sam Adonis was accidentally cut open.
5) Diamante Azul, Johnny Idol, Valiente b Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero
Valiente beat UG, setting up a title match for next week.

CMLL forgot the Valiente/UG feud started on 09/10 (with UG cheating to win), was dropped on 09/17, came back on 09/24 and that’s a weak build ot a title match. Adonis said his match was really good. I have no idea when/if this is airing at this point.

CMLL (SUN) 09/25/2016 Arena México
1) Bengala, Hombre Bala Jr., Sensei b Canelo Casas, Hijo del Signo, Magnus
changed to a trios with Bengala & Magnus (as a rudo) added late.
2) Blue Panther Jr., Guerrero Maya Jr., The Panther b Disturbio, Misterioso Jr., Sagrado
tecnicos took 2/3
3) Atlantis, Máximo Sexy, Stuka Jr. b Ephesto, Okumura, Vangellys
Stuka suffered a pectoral injury
4) Pierroth, Rey Bucanero, Rush b Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas [Relevos Increíbles]
Team Rush took 1/3.
5) Mistico b Mephisto
Mistico took 2/3

Mephisto beating Titan and Mistico beating Mephisto is a pretty clear ranking of luchadors, though it doesn’t quite make sense that Mephisto still has the singles title.

Children battling cancer were special guests at this show, with new-ish CMLL sponsor Kimberly Clark helping bring them.

CMLL (SUN) 09/25/2016 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Domingos Familiares]
1) Destello & Destructor b Avispón Negro Jr. & Black Sugar
Rudos took 2/3
2) El Yaqui & Javier Cruz Jr. b Carlo Roggi & El Gitano
Tecnicos took 2/3
3) El Alteño, El Divino, Randy b Demonio Rojo, Évola, Mr. Apolo
Tecnicos took 1/3
4) Esfinge, Mágico, Magnum b Joker, Mr. Trueno, Rey Trueno
Esfinge replaecd Nautilus. Tecnicos took 2/3.
5) Star Black b Sádico © [OCCIDENTE WELTER]
Young Star Black took falls 2/3 to win the title. Sadico falls on his fourth known defense (but may be 7th overall)

Sadico had held the championship for over two years, though this building had pretty much abandoned the title until the most recent management (when it was suddenly a meaningful deal); this was his fourth defense in little over a deal, which is a good rate for this title. Winning a Guadalajara title is no guarantee of making to Mexico City for a Jalisco local, but they are picky about who get them and it means at least the people locally are high on Star Black.

Jorge Hernandez, who wrestled as Toro Negro as recently as last year in Arena Coliseo Guadalajara, passed away Monday night. The 2015 run was more as nostalgia thing teaming back with other partner Nuba Roja; he wrestled more in the 90s and 00s under the Toro Negro name, as well as Linterna Verde (which may mean he’s the father of the current one.) He started out as Super Pony in 1985.

CMLL (MON) 09/26/2016 Arena Puebla [Culticon]
1) Astro & Centella Roja b Mini Joker & Saurón
2) Flyer & Star Jr. b Ares & Fuerza Chicana
3) Arkángel de la Muerte, Metálico, Nitro b Arkalis, Black Tiger, Rey Samuray
4) Esfinge, Stigma, Titán b Bobby Z, Misterioso Jr., Okumura
5) Dragón Rojo Jr. © b Ángel de Oro [CMLL MIDDLE]
15th defense
6) Marco Corleone, Pierroth, Rush b Euforia, Máximo Sexy, Último Guerrero [Relevos Increíbles]
straight falls

Sounds like the undercard was really boring and the rest wasn’t quite enough to save it.

Tonight’s CMLL Arena Mexico show has Atlantis, Diamante Azul and Titan against Rush, Pierroth and Ripper. There’s no ongoing storylines on this show after last week’s title match. On last week’s Diamante Azul said he’d be in Mexico for the forseeable future and isn’t going to France any time soon, so maybe he’ll start to do more than be an extra guy for random tournaments. The rest of the matches are the usual random assemblage of tag matches. The show airs at 7:30 on YouTube and CMLL (though I think I’m skipping watching it live.)

Reyna Isis is headed to REINA for 3 months. She’ll start around 10/03 witha  match against Makaoto, and won’t be back until January 2017.

2) Black Tiger, Flyer, Soberano Jr. vs Espanto Jr., Rey Apocalipsis, Toro Bill Jr.

Rush vs UG is good.. Rey/Crazy back, which is more interesting for Crazy apparently picking a side than seeing that match again.
