CMLL Puebla: 2016-09-12

hmmmm
hmmm

Recapped: 09/12/2016

What happened:  Volador & Mistico won a quick main event, setting up a tag title challenge. And that’s it.

What was good: I liked Sugehit/Zeuxis as the best match of the night, but I may be alone on that. It was a mostly boring show.

Where can I watch it: It’s on CMLL’s channel.

Match 1: Millenium & Zaeta Roja vs Rey Apocalipsis & Toro Bill Jr.
Arena Puebla, 09/12/2016

  1. técnicos
    • Zaeta Roja figure four Toro Bill (11:09)
    • Millenium ramp tope con giro Rey Apocalipsis (11:13)
  2. rudos
    • Rey Apocalipsis suplex & Toro Bill backbreaker Zaeta Roja (3:37)
    • Rey Apocalipsis moonsault Millenium (4:08)
  3. rudos
    • Toro Bill super bomb Millenium (2:25)
    • Rey Apocalipsis half crab Zaeta Roja (3:22)

Winner: rudos (2/3)
Match Time: 18:43

Review: [not rated] I was busy watching something else during most of this. I did watch the first fall, and it was very long and I thought Millenium and Rey Apocalipsis were going to fall on the other two doing their finish. (Not sure if the van was late, but it sure felt like they were stalling.) It didn’t sound like the other two falls were great.

Match 2: Black Tiger, Soberano Jr., Tigre Rojo Jr. vs Cancerbero, King Jaguar, Raziel
Arena Puebla, 09/12/2016

  1. tecnicos
    • Black Tiger bodyscsisors cradle King Jaguar (6:15)
    • Tigre Rojo Jr. springboard moonsault Cancerbero (6:26)
  2. rudos
    • Raziel nudo Soberano (3:45)
  3. técnicos
    • Soberano Jr. headscissors cradle Raziel (3:50)

Winner: técnicos (2/1)
Match Time: 14:01
Notes: Soberano Jr. replaced Starman.

Review: [ok] These rudos appear to have one good fall in them, and then that’s that. The first fall was fun, and then Cancerbero & Raziel grinded the match to nothing as usual. The Puebla guys didn’t add much. Soberano was well over qualified for this match, and at least he got to look like a star in the end.

Match 3: Princesa Sugehit vs Zeuxis in a lightning match
Arena Puebla, 09/12/2016

Winner: Zeuxis (double knee smash)
Match Time: 6:52

Review: [good] This worked fine for the format, even if it wasn’t a special match. It lacked a little bit in big moves, but they made up with it by having quite a few convincing near falls before the finish, especially compared to a normal CMLL lightning match. The dive on the outside didn’t go particularity well, but everything else did. I was surprised Zeuxis won and they passed up a finish that would keep the feuding going – but it’s CMLL so they can keep the feuding going anyway

I liked the match and picked one moment that looked iffy, I dunno

Match 4: Ángel de Oro, Rey Cometa, Stigma vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Niebla Roja, Skándalo
Arena Puebla, 09/12/2016

  1. rudos
    • Skandalo Driver on Stigma (5:04)
    • Niebla Roja Furia Roja Rey Cometa (5:04)
  2. tecnicos
    • Angel de Oro huracanrana Dragon Rojo (2:31)
  3. rudos
    • Dragon Bomb on Angel de Oro (5:45)

Winner: rudos (1/3)
Match Time: 13:20

Review: [ok] OK action, but a match I can’t think of much to say about, which makes it hard to recommend. We barely see Niebla Roja, but he seemed fine here. First fall finish was a neat idea for a combo sequence spot, but took forever to set up (because Skandalo and Stigma started late) and took a while to untangle after. Same general issue to end the second fall, as Angel de Oro slowly reversed a Dragon Bomb in a way that hurt the impact of the reversal.

Niebla Roja does this every match, but his timing seemed better this time.

Match 5: Euforia, Máximo Sexy, Último Guerrero vs Marco Corleone, Pierroth, Rey Escorpión in a relevos increíbles match
Arena Puebla, 09/12/2016

  1. Team Marco
    • Marco Corleone crab Máximo (2:53)
    • Rey Escorpión pulpo Guerrero Ultimo Guerrero (3:07)
  2. Team Maximo
    • Máximo casita Pierroth (2:29)
    • Euforica Special on Marco Corleone (2:32)
  3. Team Maximo
    • Ultimo Guerrero Pulpo Guerrero Rey Escorpion (4:02)

Winner: Team Máximo (2/3)
Match Time: 9:41

Review: [ok] Teams were strange, but the match was anything but, a very generic técnicos versus rudos match where the técnicos just happened to include Ultimo Guerrero and Euforia. They’ve done this enough that even the weirdness of Euforia doing rope bounce armdrags isn’t really all that weird, and they also hurried their way thru it. Pierroth did not do anything totally embarrassing, so that was nice.

Match 6: Carístico, Mistico, Volador Jr. vs Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Shocker
Arena Puebla, 09/12/2016

  1. técnicos
    • Carístico La Mistica Mr. Niebla (2:21)
  2. técnicos
    • Mistico cross armbreaker Negro Casas (4:18)
    • Volador inside cradle Shocker (4:33)

Winner: técnicos (1/2)
Match Time: 6:54
Notes: Volador challenged for the tag title with Mistico. Negro, angry at Shocker for hitting him during the match, accepted. Shocker did too, but wanted a hair match with Volador aftewards

Review: [ok] rushed match which was good while it lasted, but it barely lasted any long. The tag title match is a change from last week – and unlikely to be change unless the trios title are also about to change hands – but might be a more interesting match than the straight up singles. Niebla won’t be part of that, and it’s weird to see how much they have him taking the big headscissors spots of late. He did well there, less on the Misitca. Carístico getting to use his own move in a match with Mistico was different, as was Mistico’s finish – looked a bit like an attempt to do Alberto’s old armbar.
