What happened: Ultimo Guerrero cheated to beat Volador, again. The Panther and Skandalo continued their off and on feud. That’s about it.
What was good: The main event was good if you’re not tired of it. I like the fourth match, and outright skipped paying attention to the first two matches and the semimain.

I guessed the right feud, hooray.

This show was boring. To be fair, I was watching someone attempt to throw a no-hitter coming during the start of it, but I don’t think there’s lead-in program that would’ve made this exciting. Those last two matches weren’t too long, but it was already getting late because the early matches were stretched out so long. CMLL would be a great promotion if they could reverse those match times, I could really use an opener to go about seven minutes without someone getting hurt.
Tonight’s Arena Mexico show has Dragon Lee, Rush & Titan versus Mephisto, Matt Taven, and Luciferno. It’s a match with several top luchadors and also Luciferno. They set up Mephsito & Titan last week and the two should be feuding this week as well. Dragon Lee & Rush probably shouldn’t be friends, but will likely get along for about 15 minutes.
CMLL is set on only allowing zero or one ongoing feuds on Tuesday shows, so that main event is probably all we’re getting. The other matches will have to be just good matches for their own sake (which is not a good bet on Tuesday.) The semimain looks promising, with Guerrero Maya, Johnny Idol and Rey Cometa versus Bobby Z, Sam Adonis, and Vangellys. The lightning match is Esfinge/Polvora. Misterioso, Okumura and Sagrado take on Blue Panther, Fuego and Pegasso. There’s a minis match with Astral, Electrico, Stukita vs Demus, Pequeno Nitro, Pequeno Violencia. The show opens with Leono & Sensei vs Camorra & Cholo.
CultIcon also previews this show. It’ll air at 7:30pm on CMLL.com & YouTube as normal on Tuesdays. I’ve missed the last two Tuesday shows because of other things going on and picked and choosed the matches to watch, like a sane person might do. I’m not sure if I’m going to do that today, but, if I did, I’d skip the opener and the lightning match for sure, and maybe the second or third.
Guadalajara has Terrible, Rey Bucanero and Shocker against Marco Corleone, Maximo and Volador, seeming to set up a Terrible/Marco match.
Carisitco is now off to Michinoku Pro with Argos. They’re part of Masked World League, running from September 16 to the 19th. Caristico talked about it with +Lucha after the Elite show. Caristico also said he’d welcome Alberto to Elite.
AAA’s now promoting their TV taping without listing the lineup. On their website, Pirata and Taurus are no longer listed, replaced by luchador surprises. Their lineups for 09/16 have been a bit of a mess since even before they left. They’re running a triple shot in Mexico State on that day, with start times that make it possible if tough, but there were people listed as both working the TV tapings and on those other shows far away from the start. They have all the 09/16 shows still on the website (and those will occur), but no without lineups.
Lucha Memes Chairo 5 on 09/25 in Arena Naucalpan
1: Volador Jr. vs Rey Horuz
2: a Lucha Memes vs IWRG Torneo FILL (8v8 cibernetico).
IWRG: Black Dragon, Kanon, Dragon Fly, Atomic Star, Lilith Dark, Arana de Plata, Fireman, Demonio Infernal
Lucha Memes: Astrolux, Garrobo Punk, Tekilita, Baby Star Jr., Black Metal, Ciber Punk, Tonak
3: Keira, Lady Maravilla, Magnifica vs Belial, Impulso, Arez
4: Black Terry, Virus, Solar vs Caifan, Hechicero, Alberto Dos Rios
5: Trauma II vs Sharlie Rockstar, must use El Pozo to win (so also no DQ)
6: Dr. Cerbero vs Ultimo Guerrero
7: Freelance, Sadico, Sucidia vs Dragon Lee, Titan, Rey Cometa
8: Alas de Acero, Iron Kid, Aramis vs Ronnie Mendoza, Drastick Boy, Angel de Oro
That card’s gotten crazy at the end. That’s the full lineup and it seems great.
Lucha Memes also announced a 10/30 show in Xalapa (Chairos 2 Xalapa)
1: Maximo vs Demasiado, hair versus hair
2: Hechicero vs Eslabon Perdido
Hechicero is working the 10/29 ROH tapings. I don’t know of many Baltimore to Xalapa flights – I think you have to go Baltimore to Dallas or Atlanta to Mexico City to Veracruz and drive to Xalapa – so he’s got a long weekend ahead of him.
Luchas 2000 #840 hypes the CMLL legends show.
LuchaWorld has the latest News Update and this week’s Poster-Mania.
Segunda Caida loved Trauma I vs Canis Lupus.
Rush promo for the 09/16 Cara Lucha show.
Violento Jack defends the King of Freedoms championship on 09/15 against Takashi Sasaki.
Dragon, Aerostar and Taya are in Minneapolis on 10/08
10/12 Lucha Ilimitado (Yakima, Washington)

3: Hijo del Santo & Santo Jr. vs Juventud Guerrera & Nicho el Millionario
10/28 Wrestling Revolver (Iowa) will have Triton vs DJZ vs Gringo Loko. Triton must be doing OK in the US given how long he’s staying.
Lineups
CMLL (SUN) 09/18/2016 Arena México
1) Acero & Shockercito vs Pequeño Nitro & Pequeño Olímpico
2) La Vaquerita, Princesa Sugehit, Skadi vs La Seductora, Tiffany, Zeuxis
3) Ángel de Oro, Guerrero Maya Jr., Rey Cometa vs Bobby Z, Dragón Rojo Jr., Hechicero
4) Vangellys vs Rey Escorpión
5) Mistico, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Ephesto, Matt Taven, Mephisto
Vangellys/Rey Escorpion is happening. I still don’t understand why. I also don’t quite understand why this is only a five match show.
CMLL (MON) 09/19/2016 Arena Puebla
1) Centella Roja & París vs Espíritu Maligno & Guerrero Espacial
2) Meyer & Tigre Rojo Jr. vs Apocalipsis & Toro Bill Jr.
3) Hombre Bala Jr., Magnus, Robin vs El Cuatrero, Sangre Azteca, Sansón
4) Ángel de Oro, Dragón Lee, Titán vs Bobby Z, Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora
5) Marco Corleone, Rey Escorpión, Rush vs Matt Taven, Máximo Sexy, Último Guerrero [Relevos Increíbles]
6) Negro Casas & Shocker © vs Mistico & Volador Jr. [CMLL TAG]
11th defense
It’s hard to believe we’re up to 11 tag title defenses with Negro Casas & Shocker. The record is 18, but they’re moving up the list. They’ve held the belts for two years and three months, and will probably hold it for longer unless they’re moving the trios titles soon. (There’s no sign of the Universal tournament, but a title change there – or in Titan/Mephisto – would mess up the math a little bit.)
Semimain may be leading to another Ultimo Guerrero singles match, this time with Rey Escorpion. Fourth match could be good. I assume Rey Apocalipsis lost his first name by mistake.
Recapped: 09/12/2016
What happened: Volador & Mistico won a quick main event, setting up a tag title challenge. And that’s it.
What was good: I liked Sugehit/Zeuxis as the best match of the night, but I may be alone on that. It was a mostly boring show.
Where can I watch it: It’s on CMLL’s channel. Read More
