1) Fireman b Atomic Star
straight falls
2) Adrenalina & Hip Hop Man b Alas de Acero & Aramis
Alas de Acero’s first match here in 3 months.
3) Leo, Mike, Rafy, Teelo b Black Terry, Spartan, the Tiger (Tamaulipas), Violencia Jr.
Spartan and the Tiger replaced the Cerebros.
4) Danny Casas, Hijo De Dos Caras, Zatura b Apolo Estrada Jr., Relámpago, Toscano
Dos pinned Toscano, who argued it was a two count. Zatura looked good.
5) Mr. Electro, Trauma I, Trauma II b Canis Lupus, Eterno, Máscara Año 2000 Jr.
Mr. Electro dropped Mascara with a martinete to win (ref missing it while trying to get rid of a bottle), then dropkicked him off the stretcher. Hair match is coming wtih those two. Trauma I & Canis Lupus fought in the back after the match.

IWRG seems to tease Canis Lupus mask matches every year and they don’t often happen, but I’d guess Mr. Elektro/Mascara is actually happening.

Black Terry Jr. has video of Trauma and Canis Lupus fighting more backstage.

Puebla tonight has the first ever Rush/Ciberentico match, which should be interesting if not safely good. The rest of card is a bit shaky, but the second match (Black Tiger, Hombre Bala, Super Halcon vs Ares, King Jaguar, Policeman) might be good, and the semimain has the weirdness of Mistico, Volador and Johnny Idol taking on Rey Escorpion, Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa. The link to the feed is here, and the show starts about 45 minutes from this post.

The replacement main event in Arena Coliseo Monterrey was Konnan Big vs Garza Jr/Hijo del Ninja. Garza was part of the build up to the match and makes sense as a replacement for Rush. They announced the change early in the cardRush apologized for missing the show in Monterrey on Sunday due to flight issues. His flight was delayed 2.5 hours, though it sounds like he missed an earlier one.

Satanico posted on Facebook asking for prayers for his son in law Thunder, who he says is going thru a very difficult health situation.

The “En Busca del Dragon Dorada” reality show, where Octagon chooses someone new in  Xalapa to play that character, is said to be airing on AYM Sports on Monday nights. Of course, being AYM Sports, there’s no sign of it actually on the schedule.

Silueta and Zeuxis talk about being luchadors and sexism in lucha libre. Silueta says her plan is to wrestle for five more years, then go into a physical education career.

(Pittsburgh) Trib Live talks to Sam Adonis about his career and joining CMLL.

Lucha Azteca7 Elite: 2016-06-17

huge if random dive into the crowd
huge if random dive into the crowd

Recapped: 06/23/16

What happened: Volador will represent Mexico in the upcoming Elite International Tournament, which will pushed through the show.

What was good: I liked both matches.

Where can I watch it: It’s on my channel and AztecaDeporte’s website.

The show flashes back to Rush’s martinete, and suspension, and then today where Rush doesn’t really seem to be bothered much about the whole thing. Maybe because it’s now over? We’re briefly shown a bit with Dr. Zavaleta, Rambo and Rush where Rush is given a deceleration of being un-suspended. It’s not emphasized, it’s not even visible if you don’t freeze frame it, but the paper says he’ll be suspended for three months if he does it again, and his license will be revoked if he does it a third time.

Elgin wins international Elite tournament, UG up next?

ELITE (SAT) 06/25/2016 Arena México [+LuchaTV, CMLL, SuperLuchas]
1) Puma & Tiger b Emperador Azteca & Metaleón
Announced as Puma/Tiger, changed to Euforia/Gran Guerrero, ended up being Puma/Tiger.
2) Michael Elgin b Lio Rush [Elite Internacional, quarterfinal]
3) Kushida b DJZ [Elite Internacional, quarterfinal]
4) Volador Jr. b Tama Tonga [Elite Internacional, quarterfinal]
5) Bram b Sabú [Elite Internacional, quarterfinal]
6) Volador Jr. b Kushida [Elite Internacional, semifinal]
7) Michael Elgin b Bram [Elite Internacional, semifinal]
8) Michael Elgin b Volador Jr. [Elite Internacional, final]
They did a big presentation with flags and national anthems before the final. Longest match. Good match. Elgin got a belt (though it’s meant to be an annual competition and not something to defend.) Volador said his team would avenge the loss in the Gran Prix on Friday.

Results are kind of what I expected; they weren’t going to get NJPW to have both champions lose in the same tournament. Volador/Kushida seems like the direction, maybe on that last Friday Kushida’s around (07/15), but no one’s outright made the challenge yet.

Attendance doesn’t sound like it was any better. The preliminary rounds were said to be short but good, with the main event getting more time and very good. All the tournament matches should air next Friday night on Elite’s Lucha Azteca show. Elite will probably be off this week. After that, who knows. The optimistic way of looking at it is, if Elite just keeps resumes running on July 7th, then it shows they’re immune to business concerns and will continue on as long as the people in charge are still interested in the project.

CMLL (SUN) 06/26/2016 Arena México [CMLL]
1) Bengala & Leono b Artillero & Camorra
2) Hombre Bala Jr., Magnus, Mr. México Jr. b Black Scorpió, Canelo Casas, Hijo del Signo
Debuts for Mr. Mexico and Black Scorpio
3) Misterioso Jr., Okumura, Virus b Fuego, Pegasso, Tritón
4) Pierroth, Tama Tonga, Tangaroa b Máximo Sexy, Stuka Jr., Volador Jr.
5) Kushida, Marco Corleone, Michael Elgin DQ Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero
Euforia tossed his mask to Marco for the DQ.

Rush didn’t make Arena Coliseo Monterrey show tonight. I’ll talk about that, and other things, tomorrow. (But maybe late tomorrow.)

NJPW announces the G1 field late tonight. There’s been no rumors of CMLL involvement but it’s not impossible.

Black Terry Jr. has highlights of the four way tag match, Puma & Tiger vs Los Traumas and Volador & Bandido vs Flamita & Fly Warrior from CaraLucha. He’s also updated the list of matches he’s selling (which of course include those three.)

A man in Cordoba, Veracruz has been arrested for a murder at a movie theater on June 12. However, the promoter of lucha shows at Arena San Miguel believes the police have the wrong man – because the guy in jail was wrestling on a show as the masked Demonio Rojo Jr. at the same time as the murder.

Blue Demon Jr. wants the government to donate or share a permanent structure for a lucha libre museum.

Joe Lider likes ladder matches.

Lineup

CMLL (SUN) 07/03/2016 Arena México
1) Flyer & Sensei vs Akuma & Inquisidor
2) Marvel, Oro Jr., Soberano Jr. vs Fiero, Fujin, Raijin
3) Guerrero Maya Jr., Stuka Jr., Titán vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Hechicero, Pólvora
4) Marco Corleone vs Euforia
5) Diamante Azul, Shocker, Último Guerrero vs Michael Elgin, Tama Tonga, Tangaroa

Marco/Euforia went from 0 to 60 quick. Main event is Mexico vs Foreign Legion. WON reported the plan was for a UG/Elgin title match at some point, and this would seem to set it up for 07/10 (as Elgin is gone by the 17th.)

More debuts! Fiero is an Mexico city indie guy who’s appeared, of note, IWRG and Toyrumon shows. He’s good. I’m not sure who this Marvel is – it could be the Guadalajara local getting an unexpected callup to Mexico City, since he’s hasn’t been around much. He was working early matches in 2014 for a few months, disappeared, and the name reappeared this April for Sunday matches but not many of those.

CMLL (SUN) 07/03/2016 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Black Sugar vs Quca
2) Javier Cruz Jr. & Micro vs Destello & Destructor
3) Capitán Cobra, Fugaz, Randy vs Carlo Roggi, Demonio Rojo, Mr. Apolo
4) El Divino, Frezzer, Star Black vs Gitano, Mr. Trueno, Rey Trueno
5) Esfinge, Mágico, Vaquero Jr. vs Furia Roja, Joker, Maléfico

The first unmasked match for the loser of the Esfinge/Furia Roja match on Tuesday.
