Recapped: 05/18-19/16
What happened: Rush & LA Park won their Liga Elite matches.
What was good: The trios match was really good, and Casas/Rush was very good for the time it lasted
Where can I watch it: It’s on my channel and on the official site.
Match 1: Rush vs Negro Casas in a Liga Elite match
Arena México, 05/04/2016
Video: thecubsfan
Winner: Rush
Match Time: 6:27
Notes: They’ve affixed an Elite logo poster over the CMLL announce desk, which comes in handy when Rush wanders over to spit at Shocker. (Also, they appear to have just one microphone they pass back and forth, which is a little weird.)
Review: [good] The sound of Rush connecting with Negro Casas on the finishing dropkick was disturbingly loud. It was a totally convincing finish for a match, Casas could’ve been carried out of the building and it would’ve seen right. The match itself was lightning-ish, with no big story, not a lot of time for one anyway and Rush seemingly as concerned with Shocker as Casas. What they did looked solid, but you are left wanting a bit more.
Match 2: Carístico, Máscara Dorada, Mistico vs Euforia, Rey Escorpión, Último Guerrero
Arena México, 05/04/2016
Video: thecubsfan
- rudos
- Rey Escorpión top rope legdrop Caristico (2:47)
- técnicos
- Mascara Dorada springboard flip torbillo Euforia (2:23)
- Mistico La Mistica Ultimo Guerrero (2:26)
- técnicos
- Carístico flipping armbar Rey Escorpion (5:16)
Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:29
Notes: The técnicos were all dressed in the traditional Mistico colors. Rey Escorpión and Ultimo Guerrero had mild problems during the match, just enough to remind that they’re not friends.
Review: [great] easily the best trios match they’ve done on this show under this format. This match was just a blank canvass for the técnicos to show off, with three rudos who were great to work for them. Lots of highlight spots, as intended. Mistico is so good now but he almost is in Mascara Dorada’s league (and at least doesn’t look out of place with him.) Caristico’s run setting up the final dives was really smooth.
Match 3: Atlantis vs LA Park in a Liga Elite match
Arena México, 05/04/2016
Video: thecubsfan
Winner: LA Park (2-1)
Match Time: 7:01
Review: [ok] Unlike his usual enemy Wagner, LA Park worked complete rudo when the situation called for it, cheating whenever possible and not looking around for cheers. It was a good job of adjusting for the opponent. The finishing stretch felt a little flat and the match didn’t get into a high gear, but it was decent for the time. Atlantis being able to lift LA Park over his shoulders and drop him easily is very impressive given Park’s current size. Same thing about him absorbing LA Park tope, though LA Park didn’t get much on it.
Elite aired extended highlights of the first three matches to close out the show. Rossy Moreno used the ropes to Estrellita in the women’s match. They leave in a spot of Hijo de Dos Caras & Medico Asesino blowing a springboard headscissors for some reason; Jinzo & Metaleon look much more impressive than their partner.
Highlights are shown of Shocker in Guadalajara to end the show.
