Recapped: 03/05/2016
taped Auditorio General José María Arteaga, Querétaro, Querétaro, 02/19/2016 – part 2 of 2
What happened: La Parka advanced to the Rey de Reyes final. Apache cheated to beat Venom and hit him with a chair. That’s about it.
What was good: Opener was fun. You can skip the rest.
Where can I watch it: It’s on AAA’s YouTube channel.
Previously: The Perros didn’t get along, then they fought, then they got along, and Pentagon gave up the title. In between, Lider got a win.
Match 1: Ludxor & Venum vs Carta Brava Jr. & El Apache
Auditorio General José María Arteaga, Querétaro, Querétaro, 02/19/2016
Video: luchalibreaaatv
Winner: Rudos (Apache pin Venum with feet on ropes)
Match Time: 10:21
Notes: Apache got his feet up on a Venum moonsault, then pinned him with his feet on the ropes. Venum protested and kicked Apache, and Apache pulled a chair out of the crowd to smack Venum, wrapping the chair around his head. Everyone sells this as a big thing.
Review: [good] These two teams have had so many matches against each other, but they’re still fresh enough to be a lot of fun. It feels like it’s been a while since one of them too, and they may have mixed in some new stuff. The rudos were really smooth and the técnicos had some huge highspots (the dives really came off well.) Venum was up and down the entire match; they tried to hide it at one point but couldn’t, and then he mentally flinched on a big tandem spot later on. The post match spot teased them going somewhere with this feud, but it’s hard to believe that would happen.
Match 2: Dinastía, El Elegido, Goya Kong, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Mamba, Mary Apache, Mini Charly Manson
Auditorio General José María Arteaga, Querétaro, Querétaro, 02/19/2016
Video: luchalibreaaatv
Winner: técnicos (Pimpinela reinera Mini Charly Manson)
Match Time: 13:33
Review: [ok] Elegido and Mary Apache being back on TV sure seems like a clear sign of changes. The match itself was not; another relevos AAA that just existed and got over well with the crowd but didn’t do much for me. More comedy skewing since Goya Kong was in (and it was weird to see a Mary Apache match with her as the smaller woman.) Dives right before the finish looked good, but the finish was sad moments of Pimpinela trying to get Mini Charly up in a reinera for a while before giving up. It’s probably not a good thing when you have to be consoled after a win.

Villano IV is happy to make it to the Rey de Reyes final. He doesn’t really have much to say except he’s happy to represent his family and plans on winning the whole thing.
That Rey de Reyes blocked is repeated.
Match 3: La Parka vs Psycho Clown, Averno, Zorro [AAA Rey de Reyes] and in a tournament semifinal match

Psycho Clown frontcracker Averno (7:04)

Zorro el pulpo Psycho Clown (9:07)

La Parka fujiwara Zorro (13:24)
Winner: La Parka, advances
Match Time: 13:24
Notes: Mesias is at ringside, still from last week and comes off as a rudo. They try to ask him who he thinks is going to win this and he has trouble answering it until he comes up with Psycho. Everyone fights everyone, including the técnicos squaring off after taking out the rudos with dives to start. Zorro does hit Psycho with his cane before the finish, but Copetes is watching it and has no problem with the legality.
Review: [ok] Like last week, there was just a lot of random fighting and then some eliminations. These are formless substance-less blobs of the matches lacking the big high spots to cover it up. This one felt like it did gel a bit near the end, as they had more time for the one on ones before the elimination. This bit where A pins B, B pins C, and C pins D is very predictable, but it at least gives the final some rhythm. The Psycho Clown who was throwing discuss clothesline and high knees at Zorro looks much more like a main eventer than the guy doing the belt spot. It’s amazing they had him lose with nothing screwy at the same time they seem to be getting behind him. (And the cane shots don’t count, since Parka took four of them and was counting immediately.) Maybe it was the mic he was using, but Mesias sounded very off.
