Titán vs Drastik Boy

Winner: Drastick Boy (standing spanish fly)
Match Time: 6:51
Notes: This is a full match posted by +LuchaTV. Titan had Drastick Boy giving up to his leg submission, but Drastik Boy had accidentally dropkicked the referee to pieces moments before. Drastik Boy won soon after (because everything happened soon after.

Review: [great] ridiculously too short, but either the greatest lightning match possible or the last seven moments of a very good twenty minute match. I would‘ve loved a lot more time, but this was fun while it lasted, each guy throwing out their best stuff to try and win this one quick. They have seven minutes and they set out on packing it with both guys getting in crazy dives and kicking each other’s faces off. Titan’s machine gun chops were about 1/10th the length of the match, but still very amusing. The dropkick to the referee was the fiercest ref bump in many a year. Everything looked great too, and Drastick’s win felt like a big win even with the time and the obvious out for Titan.

Eterno vs Black Terry
Arena Naucalpan, 11/25/2015

Winner: Black Terry (small package)
Match Time: 14:35
Notes: Atomic Star, limping noticeably, tries to second Eterno. Black Terry objects, as it’s signed as a one on one match. The microphone is not plugged into the AYM audio and the announcers talk over the promo, so it’s impossible to tell what Eterno and Terry actually say. Atomic Star eventually is kicked out by the commissioner, with another student coming out to force Atomic to the backstage area.

Terry accidentally clotheslined the referee, and Eterno wasted no time foul kicking Terry. He covered, but the ref had not recovered. Eterno stirred the ref, but was small packaged by Black Terry for the win.

Review: [good] given how this feud went otherwise, I was really surprised when about the first half of this match was a maestros match. I guess it did make sense, since the whole issue was about who was the better actual maestro. Eterno was OK in that format, which was not one he does a lot, and that section seemed to flow better than some stuff they did later on – the strike exchange near the end specifically seemed like it had some timing issues. Eterno’s leg lock late also looked to be a struggle to put on and left him more hurt than Terry, which very weird. Black Terry’s Old Man Tiger Mask Fake Out spin was pretty great. Still overall a good match but not what I was expecting. It wasn’t helped by the AYM production, as always: there was next to no crowd noise picked up on the audio. There wasn’t much of a crowd, but they had the announcers turned up very loud (and talking over the promo) and everything else turned down. Usual bad timing of camera switches during dives too.

fancy submission from Eterno

I wish I could be as cool as this armdrag
IWRG referees as helpful as always

Black Terry, Dr. Cerebro, Hijo del Pantera vs Apolo Estrada Jr., Canis Lupus, Eterno

  1. rudos

    • DQ Black Terry [unmasked Canis Lupus] (7:09)

  2. rudos

    • Eterno press slam Black Terry (8:57)

Winner: rudos (2-0)
Match Time: 16:06
Notes: Black Tery took a heavy chari to the head, which seemed liked it should start him bleeding and should cause a DQ, but neither happened. (A referee was at Terrey’s forehead for quite a while, suspiciously looking like he was holding something in his fingers.) The rudos switched to using the spikes from a wrist guard and punches to the head to try and get the blood. He eventually does bleed. Apolo starts bleeding much easier, appearing to bleed from a chair shot to the head even before he gets hit! Canis Lupus loses his mask and bleed quite a bit. Terry’s deemed responsible, but the cameras mostly miss it. That ends the first fall, but Terry tries to murder Eterno anyway and he’s bleeding bad. Hijo del Pantera works on Canis Lupus’s mask – he’s cut very bad and bleeds quickly and heavily. Post match challenges set up a tag apuesta match between the four unmasked guys.

Review: [great] prototypical hate filled crazy brawl, the exact opposite of the singles match. It’s more what I was expecting, though I was surprised to see everyone else get pulled into it too. Just about everyone bleeds, and some people bled a lot. As best as I could tell, Canis Lupus’ skull opens up in this match from a Hijo del Pantera dropkick to the head. (Or, one of the two referees who very obviously held blades, which was a determinate.) It seems chaotic at times, with guys fighting more for revenge than carrying about actually winning the match, but it had a normal match structure. AYM production error of the night is a cameraman being in the wrong spot and getting wiped out when Canis Lupus took a planned tumble out of the ring. Looked like everyone lived. I had to rewind a few times to make sure Eterno won with a press slam, because that’s a weird sentence to type. I think the obviousness of the blading (or what I thought was blading) took the match down for me, but I could see other people enjoying the aggressive nature of the match and having it a lot higher.

That’s a way to get him to stop headbutting you

    • Felino foul Super Crazy (5:08)

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 12:26
Notes: Lightly edited handheld. Puma grabbed Edgar’s boot to distract him from Felino’s foul.

Review: [good] a by the numbers tag match you’d expect on a spot show, where the spot just happened to be Arena Mexico. (Complete with challenge that probably won’t be going anywhere!) The difference is their routine match has a lot of really fun The Panther spots. It’s the spots he does in every match, but they set them up to make them feel special and make him look like an upcoming star. And then they end with Super Crazy and Felino anyway, because reasons. Not mandatory viewing but would’ve been fine as a TV match.

Demonio del Caribe vs Caifan
Arena Coliseo Monterrey, 12/20/2015

Winner: Caifan (surfboard)
Match Time: 12:21

Review: [good] Caifan doing his usual level of match with a random Monterrey local because why not. It gets kind of close feeling like a generic performance by him early, but the mat wrestling early goes so long and looks so good that you’re willing to overlook. Demonio del Caribe, a man who seems of no real note otherwise, actually appears to hold his own on the mat for that long submission battle. Too bad he’s completely gassed after the dive (and maybe before it given how off it looked) and Caifan has to wrestle the last few minutes of the match all on his own. Secret highlight of this match is the crowd cheering for Caifan for kicking out of Demonio’s one big desperation near fall, and then not cheering Demonio at all when waving for support. They definitely picked their side.

hit? didn’t hit?
Caifan wins

Solar I vs Blue Panther
Arena Coliseo Monterrey, 12/20/2015

Winner: Solar (Dos Caras clutch)
Match Time: 12:27
Notes: This is listed as being for Solar’s FLLM Master championship, though we never see the title.

Review: [great] The last match, but better! Also, every Negro Navarro/Solar match, but also better. They were fighting aggressively over holds, reversing from one to another and moving at a faster pace than in similar maestro matches. This is not a great match for crazy GIFs but it was an entertaining battle of holds. Like the other match, there were some familiar spots but it was generally well done. There was one really bad moment near the end, but it didn’t take away from the fun too much. I like the bit of Blue Panther being the one to break way from doing holds and immediately paying for it. He didn’t get much the rest of the way. Maybe there was no way he could win.
