Recapped: 01/11/2016
What happened: Maximo beat Vangellys to set up a title match next week. Mr. Niebla fouled Atlantis to probably set up a rematch of their trios match. (This was another drunk Mr. Niebla match.) The undercard went really long, probably because of the same drunk Mr. Niebla
What was good: I liked the segunda and felt the tercera went too long, but you may feel the opposite.
Where can I watch it: It’s on CMLL’s YouTube channel.
Match 1: Asturiano & Zaeta Roja vs Ares & El Malayo
Arena Puebla, 01/11/2016
- tecnicos
- Malayo spinning slam Zaeta Roja (5:49)
- Ares tibaruzon Asturiano (5:49)
- rudos
- Zaeta Roja modified Delta formation Mayalo (3:55)
- Asturiano suspended double armbar Ares (4:03)
- tecnicos
- Zaeta Roja Sliced Bread Malaylo (2:40)
- Asturiano moonsault Ares (3:07)
Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 12:49
Review: [ok] Better match than usual for an opener, even if I felt myself drifting off for other reasons. The mat wrestling in the opener was good and Malayo can do some neat things. Finish was a team effort botch: Malayo rolled out on a dropkick only for Astruiano to send him back in, Zaeta Roja tried a sliced bread (which looked more like a Malayo back suplex), didn’t really, Malayo kicked out at three, Tirantes counted three anyway. Announcers were baffled. Asturiano immediately took the fall anyway, then stormed to the back. Too bad he didn’t get to do more in his one appearance a month.
Match 2: Black Tiger, Starman, Tigre Rojo Jr. vs Nitro, Rey Apocalipsis, Toro Bill Jr.

- Tigre Rojo Jr. 450 splash Rey Apocalipsis (2;34)
- rudos
- Toro Bill backcracker Tigre Rojo Jr. (3:08)
- Starman casadora cradle Toro Bill (3:21)
- Nitro half crab Starman (3:41)
Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 14:08
Review: [good] Enjoyable match for the most part. Not going to be super memorable, but entertaining more than most. Even Nitro being a waste of time didn’t drag this out, except made for the annoying finish. Rey Apocalipsis and Toro Bill will go fall all over the place to make the tecnicos look good, and make it entertaining in ways other rudos do not. Black Tiger seemed to be doing more than in other matches. Tigre Rojo looked fine outside of his finish.
Match 3: Blue Panther Jr., Stigma, The Panther vs Puma, Sangre Azteca, Tiger
Arena Puebla, 01/11/2016
- tecnicos
- The Panther nudo lagunero Tiger (8:19)

- Sangre Azteca low blow dropkick Stigma (5:44)
- Tiger sunset fliip powerbomb Blue Panther Jr. (6:18)
- rudos
- Puma Stretch on the Panther (7:00)
Winner: tecnicos
Match Time: 21:37
Review: [ok] A extremely long match for this show, one that was entertaining at times and had more twists and turns, but also dragged at times. There are probably people in this match who could’ve done some fun mat work. Instead, we got Stigma trying to do spots he could not do with Sangre Azteca for about seven minutes. This was a good chance to check my email, at any rate. It was better with other guys in, and they got to unload all their ideas in one match just because they had to fill up the time. It wasn’t bad (except for Sangre Azteca refusing to break from his normal match in even the least), but this was one where they were working to stretch out the match more than had an idea for a twenty minute match.
Match 4: Atlantis, Blue Panther, Valiente vs Cavernario, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
Arena Puebla, 01/11/2016
- Peste Negra
- Cavernario pump splash Valiente (2:35)
- Mr. Niebla tibaruzon Blue Panther (2:53)
- tecnicos
- Blue Panther tapatia Negro Casas (2:29)
- Valiente cavernaria Cavernario (2:29)
- tecnicos
- DQ Mr. Niebla [foul Atlantis] (4:07)
Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:29
Review: [below average] Mr. Niebla drunk times, basically. The other guys worked around it a bit – Atlantis had a ncie twenty seconds – but this was a waste of time. Not even crazy Mr. Niebla drunk moments, just Mr. Niebla wrestling badly and the other guys trying to keep him out as much as possible.
Match 5: La Máscara, Marco Corleone, Máximo Sexy vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Vangellys
Arena Puebla, 01/11/2016
- tecnicos
- Maximo Kiss of Death Terrible (1:00)
- rudos
- Rey Bucanero crossface La Mascara (3:46)
- Vangelllys half crab Maximo (4:06)
- rudos
- Vangelys senton Marco Corleone (2:27)
- Maximo inside cradle Rey Bucanero (2:27)
- Vangellys northern light suplex Maximo (3:35)
Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 8:41
Notes: Vangellys asked for a title match after the win, Maximo said how about now, and Vangellys said the fans didn’t pay for the title match this week so next week.
Review: [ok] rushed repeat of last week’s match, with much of the same sort of spots. Maximo/Vangellys will be a great test of Maximo’s run as a champion, but watching this is more a test of how desperate you are to watch some lucha libre. They didn’t mess much up (though the finish looked iffy), but they were in and out as fast as they could without it being glaring.

Am I the only one that actually enjoyed tercera? : ( I liked how in the segunda caida it seemed that it was going to be 2 straight falls for tecnicos at first but then the rudos won the fall and the match…Dunno maybe I’ve lowered my standars that much. I also would like to thank you Cubs, been checking this page nearly every day for the last 4 or 5 years. Really appreciate your work. Greetings.
