Aerostar springboard reverse frog splash?

Recapped: 12/01/2015

What happened: Dr. Wagner Jr. returned, helped Rey win the main event tag match, then turned on him post match to everyone’s confusion. Wagner appears to be taking over Myzteziz’s spot as the rudo loner, but it might be months before we see him again.

Daga and Australian Suicide continue to feud, though Suicide got the trios win this week. Electroshock started on the tecnico side, is still getting attacked by Hijo del Pirata for no apparent reason.

What was good: I liked the opener a lot. You can stop watching at that point.

Where can I watch it: It’s on my channel, and now up on AAA’s channel.

This shows includes promos for the Mexican Madness Guadalajara shows, for the Que Viva el Rey shows and for Guerra de Titanes.

Match 1: Aerostar, Australian Suicide, Laredo Kid vs Daga, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Steve Pain

Winner: tecnicos (Australian Suicide shooting star press Steve Pain)
Match Time: 11:43

Daga and Suicide feuded in the match, then Daga attacked Suicide after the match and took his mask.

Review: [good] fun spot fest that didn’t totally come together as a match. The second half is a long series of one on ones with the team aspect thrown out – it’s not that they’re fighting among itself, it’s just the third guy only appearing when his teammate has already check out. This match was about Suicide & Daga, but they’re barely in against each other. Daga tries to cost Suicide the pin and they fight previous to that, but it’s not as much as them as you’d expect. Still, the spots looked good with Aerostar & Steve Pain stealing the show. Laredo Kid looked good, but his previous appearance was a bit better.

Match 2: Electroshock, Fénix, Psycho Clown vs Taurus, Texano Jr., Zorro
Polyforum la Fe, Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, 11/02/2015

Winner: rudos (Texano pin Electroshock)
Match Time: 9:13
Notes: This is Zorro’s first TV appearance in six months. No reason. Hijo del Pirata Morgan walks down to the ring in the late stages of the match with a chair. Electroshock looks at him, goes back to fighting Texano, and gets punched with a chair in full view of Tirantes. No matter, it’s three anyway.

Review: [ok] unmemorable match that didn’t seem to be going anywhere until the finish. They didn’t really tease any finish until Pirata walked in the ring and plunked Electroshock with a chair. Fenix and Taurus got to do a few things, but they get to do more in other matches. Zorro seems the same as he always does. They really need a vignette to explain what’s going on with Pirata, but they mostly just had the rudo announcer congratulating him on attacking Electroshock.

The Pentagon, Fantasma, Lider vs Jack, Angelico, Garza match is repeated.

Noti AAA

  • clips of Daga getting his black eye worked on.
  • Angelico & Jack say they’re real tag champions – Pentagon & Lider never defended the titles, while they defended the titles five times. Jack says that makes them the real Cero Miedo. Jack also says Joe Lider is doing extreme spots because he doesn’t know lucha libre. Jack goes into full rhyming taunt promo mode, much to Zuniga’s displeasure.
  • hype for the Que Viva el Rey tour

Match 3: Dr. Wagner Jr. & Rey Misterio Jr. vs Brian Cage & Hijo del Fantasma
Polyforum la Fe, Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, 11/02/2015
Video:

Winner: tecnicos (Rey Mysterio top rope plancha Cage)
Match Time: 14:50
Notes: Pentagon Jr. & Joe Lider are with Hijo del Fantasma for no real reason, but interfere freely. A Fantasma promo seems cut out. The bit with Joaquin bringing back Dr. Wagner is cut out. He’s just there. Cage attacks Rey after the match, Wagner makes the save, then clotheslines Rey as he goes for the 619. Rudos are confused and Wagner declares he’s a bigger star than Rey. Rey starts a comeback, rudos put him down, and tecnicos finally run out to be the save. Rudos leave, separate from Wagner, who declares he doesn’t want to be on anyone’s team.

Review: [below average] Boring match, slowed down by a lame beatdown to start and never really getting on track. Whatever they paid Wagner to be a last minute fill in, it wasn’t enough to get him to take many bumps. (It was enough for him to just walk around and shake a little bit.) That means they have four rudos out there and only Rey really to make them look good. That’s not an ideal situation. I guess the idea was to make the tecnicos look really strong to send the fans home happy even though they weren’t getting their promised main event, but it didn’t work on TV. Not sure it worked live; crowd didn’t react to Rey’s offense until he went for the 619. The misaimed dive spot at the end wasn’t well timed, with Cage having to go out of his way to be hit by Fantasma (so Fantasma didn’t die.) It didn’t make particular sense for Wagner to wait until after the match to turn on Rey, but they avoided them working together during the match. The angle from this hasn’t gone anywhere, and it seems mostly just something they did to get thru the night.
