CMLL Puebla: 2015-10-05

Black Tiger stuck in a vortex of violence

Recapped: 10/05/2015

What happened? Lestat challenged Molotov to a mask match and it’s actually happening next week. (That’s a four week build, nearly as long as Sombra/Atlantis.) Mephisto beat Volador in straight falls to set up a title match next week.

What was good? Not much. The all CMLL matches were rushed and mailed in. The Puebla guys had some bad moments or were obviously toning down their style. The tercera, with Dragon Lee & Kamaitachi, was the one good match on the show.

Where can I watch it? It’s up on CMLL’s YouTube channel.

RIOT, IWRG, Lucha Underground taping date, Daniel Bryan, CMLL weekend lineups

RIOT (SAT) 10/03/2015 Arena Femenil, Monterrey, Nuevo León[LuchaMania Monterrey]
1) Psicotico b Lord Byron
2) Alberto Dos Rios b Belial
Alberto was originally supposed to face Electro Boy, but he’s out two weeks with injury. His opponent instead turned out to be Belial. Alberto won with a Canadian Destroyer.
3) Erick Ortiz b Kaientai, Arez
Ortiz beat Kaientai
4) Low Rider & Sammy Guevarab Kratoz & Ultimo Ninja
Low Rider & Guevara jumped the other team. High flying match. Guevara faked an injury and fouled Kratoz for the win.
5) Caifan b Epydemius
Odd finish – Epydemius could not continue due to losing his hearing after a Caifan shot. Arez ran out and challenged Caifan to a Perros del Mal title match (Caifan won it in this building.) Caifan said he didn’t have the belt with him, but was ready to fight anyway.
6) Caifan b Arez
Caifan won again (if this was meant to be an official match)
7) Dralion b Rey Horus
Dralion won with two German suplexes.

I haven’t heard much about the matches, but the tag match sounds good. They have a YouTube channel so maybe clips will turn up there?

IWRG (SUN) 10/04/2015 Arena Naucalpan [The Gladiatores]
1) Kanon & Omega b Acero & Adrenalina
2) Leo, Miss Gaviota, Mr. Leo b Demetrio El Gladiador, Hip Hop Man, Ram El Carnero
Demetiro and Hip Hop Man are father/son.
3) El Golpeador, Oficial AK47, Rayan b Freelance, Pantera I, Relámpago
4) El Hijo del Diablo, Imposible, Trauma II b Golden Magic, Hijo del Pantera, Pantera
Straight falls for the rudos. Trauma II wants a title match against Golden Magic.
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Heddi Karaoui, Hijo De Dos Caras b Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Negro Navarro, Trauma I
Team Wagner took 2/3, the last when Hijo de Dr. Wagner appeared to distract Mascara into a loss. Navarro challenged the Wagners to a match.

There are a high amount of challenges in IWRG right now and very few actual matches. In theory, this is Karaoui’s last IWRG match. (I think it’s not.)

PWInsider says Lucha Underground will start begin taping on 11/14. That’s a month earlier that people were saying; they got things rolling quick. Lucha Underground tapings were Saturday/Sundays last year, they usually tape two times a month and they’re not going to tape Thanksgiving weekend, so pencil in 11/14, /11/15, 11/21 and 11/22 as possible dates. Assuming they stick with two episodes a night, that’s eight weeks of TV (and probably another eight weeks in December before the first episode airs.) There were (fan) concerns about spoilers or the long distance between when the shows were taped and where they’d air hurting things, but just starting in November while airing in January suggests they’re not going to change that much.

In the roughly ten thousand interview about his injury status, Daniel Bryan talked about how he’d definitely go back to wrestling elsewhere if WWE wouldn’t clear him. (WWE’s never going to let him go without a long period of ugliness, so everything past this point is theoretical.) Bryan says he’s been getting into lucha libre history of late and would love to put his hair up against someone’s mask as the main event of a CMLL Anniversary show. (Link via Uproxx.) That would be great fun! I think there’s a pretty good shot the people in charge of CMLL have no idea who Daniel Bryan is and wouldn’t recognize him if he walked into the office wearing a Daniel Bryan shirt! They probably would really like him if they knew him, so maybe Arkangel would just have to train him for a month and all would be good. I’d now start cutting random promos on Daniel Bryan if I was a CMLL luchador but that’s generally why I’m not a luchador.

Segunda Caida reviews Misterioso vs Vulcano vs Huichol.

Super Libre had many guests, including Satanico, Tiniebla and Máscara Año 2000.

6) Canek, Heavy Metal, Solar I vs Máscara Año 2000, Negro Navarro, Universo 2000
7) Justiciero vs Jeque [hair]

Annual big October show for this building. At least for the moment, they’ll have both CMLL & AAA luchadors on the show (Daga works these shows because he and Eterno started here.)

CMLL Puebla tonight has La Mascara, La Sombra & Shocker taking on Atlantis, Mr. Niebla and Ultimo Guerrero. Lestat & Molotov continue their feud in the third match, which also includes Dragon Lee & Kamaitachi. As usual, the early matches look promising and the CMLL matches could go either way. Show will air on YouTube at 9pm CT.

Todo x el Todo also returns to action with a show in Leon tonight. Main event is Canek, Santo and Octaogn versus Dr. Wagner, Fuerza Guerrera and Heavy Metal. Angel Blanco Jr. defends his WWA Middleweight Championship against Cielito (aka Magnifico II.) There’s no announced TV coverage for the show. This is supposed to be the first part of a tour, but they’ve been light on details for the rest of the shows.

10/04 AAA TV Results (Heroes Inmortales)

AAA TV (SUN) 10/04/2015 Domo de San Luis, San Luis Potosí, San Luis Potosí [The Gladiatores]
Heroes Inmortales IX
1) Taya © b Goya Kong, La Hiedra, Lady Shani, Maravilla [Reina del Reinas]
The two mystery people were Lady Shani (debuted on last taping) and Lady Maravilla. A good match, with Taya retaining by defeating (Lady) Maravilla. First defense.
2) Angélico & Jack Evans b Joe Lider & Pentagón Jr. © and Daga & Steve Pain [AAA TAG]
The two Perros del Mal teams fought like they were never allies. Myzteziz strangely came to the ring during the match, attacking everyone and costing Pentagon Jr. the win after a package piledriver. Most of the match chased Pentagon to the stage, leaving Steve Pain to be beat by Jack for the title change. Jack & Angelico are tag champions. Lider & Pentagon end their reign with zero defenses, but signaled they wanted a rematch.
3) Drago & Fénix b Brian Cage & El Mesías
Drago & Fenix fought well, but lost to Cage & Mesias. Mesias took Fenix’s mask after the match.
4) Taurus b Cibernético, La Parka, Blue Demon Jr., Averno, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Electroshock, Aerostar, Chessman, Niño Hamburguesa [Copa Antonio Pena]
The debuting Taurus got the win, eliminating La Parka last in the usual royal rumble fashion. Antonio Pena was honored with a moment of appluase before the match.
5) Garza Jr., Psycho Clown, Rey Mysterio Jr. b Hijo del Fantasma, Myzteziz, Texano Jr.
The debuting Garza Jr. is Hijo del Ninja, doing Hector Garza spots. He looked fine, but took the loss to Myzteziz. Myzteziz had problems with his partners but seemed on the same page after the win.
6) El Patrón Alberto © DQ Johnny Mundo [AAA HEAVY]
second defense. Johnny was caught using a guitar as a weapon by Hijo del Tirantes. Mundo had earlier slapped Tirantes for not counting fast enough, so Tirantes called the DQ. Cage (Mundo’s second) and Mundo attacked Alberto and Psycho Clown (Alberto’s second.) Rey made the save. Myzteziz attacked him. La Sociedad ran out to attack the tecnicos and Myzteziz, smashing a guitar over his head for betraying them earlier. Alberto and Rey eventually ran the rudos off the end the show, but did not save Myzteziz.

Air Date: 10/17 & 10/24

All the details are the recap post below.

Chilanga Mask: 2015-08-16

Belial multitasking

Recapped: 08/27/15

What happened? Chilanga Mask doesn’t do a lot on show to show angles, so this doesn’t quite work conventionally. There were some stories though: team Oaxaca beat team Estado de Mexico, setting up a rematch on a future Oaxaca show. Disturbio’s Lucha Kaos group debuted with a win. Ultimo Guerrero and Caifan attempted to murder each other with chops, setting up a singles match a month later. The Guerrero Mayas attempted to murder each with everything and will likely fight again some day.

What was good? Dr. Cerebro versus Virus is one of my favorite matches of the year. I can’t think of a better Mexico woman’s match than Keira/Zeuxis. The Mayas have a super brawl. Pretty much everything is good, though the matches with a lot of people in them can get confusing and the main even requires you to like Pagano’s style.

Where can I watch? It’s all on +LuchaTV’s channel. Links are below
