AAA on Televisa: 2015-08-15

don’t yell at Flamita

Recapped: 08/19/2015

What happened? This was a lame duck show before TripleMania, but it did feature the debut (under a new name) of Fireball. It’ll still be a while before we figure out if this is a footnote or a meaningful.

What was good? That Fireball match was great and worth watching. Not just because of the guy normally known as Flamita either: if we ever get a full year of Steve Pain, he’d probably get some awards. The rest of the show was nothing special.

Where can I watch? It’s in my playlist, and it’s now up on AAA’s channel (as Puebla Parte 2).

Not really a previously this week, just the list of matches.

There are many promos for TripleMania next week. They sound added, but maybe taped at the live event and then patched in later (as if they weren’t sure which matches would air before TripleMania and which ones after.)

Match 1: Dinastía, Mini Drago, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Mamba, Mini Charly Manson, Mini Psycho Clown

Winner: tecnicos (Pimpinela reinera Mini Charly Manson)
Match Time: 8:35
Notes: Referee was Maya

triple headscissors

Review: [ok] Kind of disappointing because it was built more around Pimpinela’s comedy antics than the athletic ability of the minis. They got in their spots, but the match was slowed down a lot to do traditional spots for no great reason. It would’ve been cool to see these guys go all out, but it just wasn’t that match. Pimpi’s submission seemed to go better on Sexy Star than Mini Charly Manson, so that’s one thing that was better at TripleMania. Mini Drago outshined Dinastía in what we got to see.

Match 2: Goya Kong & Niño Hamburguesa vs Carta Brava & Taya Valkyrie
Gimnasio Miguel Hidalgo, Puebla, Puebla, 07/10/2015
Video:

Winner: técnicos (Niño Hamurguesa splash Carta Brava Jr.)
Match Time: 7:48
Notes: Referee is Tirantes, who is a hated neutral referee this match

Review: [ok] really nothing but a squash for the larger team. Taya & Carta (who seems to be on every taping!) got some token offense. This still was about the visual of seeing Niño and Goya as a team and doing things together. They didn’t have a much team work spots as they might have done, and Goya sure was mean to steal Nino’s hamburger for herself, but this worked as a change of pace match. They picked good camera angles to hide Niño’s offense.

not a DQ

Match 3: Fireball & Ludxor vs Daga & Steve Pain
Gimnasio Miguel Hidalgo, Puebla, Puebla, 07/10/2015

Flamita flipping with ease

Winner: técnicos (Fireball Flama Fly Steve Pain )
Match Time: 15:59
Notes: Referee is Maya. Steve Pain & Daga don’t appear to be Anarakia, though Pain is wearing that symbol. Fireball is Flamita making his TV return after some vacation time in Japan. He’s got a new adjusted mask for the occasion.

Review: [great] exciting spot fest. The match lacked a real build of moves and just had a lot of big moves for the last half of the match. Some of them looked crazy, including the sequence Steve Pain pulled out during the finish. Flamita was superb, looking so much more confident since his Dragon Gate stint. Ludxor was energetic, but sloppy and lost (and/or hurt) near the end. Daga was really good fit for this match. We could use more of these.

Ludxor knocked out of orbit
Daga might have gotten the worst of this

  1. The Fireball match was insane with Pain and Daga….Ludxor made his best effort, but looked out of his element, he only pulled out that arm drag that could put some injury…it is a shame that Triplemania did not have something like this….
