Los Ingobernables defeated the odd team of Shocker, Brazo de Plata and Volador in the main event of the Tragedias show in Deportivo Pavon on Saturday night, with Mr. Niebla making a surprise appearance to attack Rush, Mascara & Sombra post match. Semimain was supposed to be a trios, ended up a weird ten man with Mistico, Valiente, Draogn Lee, Soberano Jr., Principe Diamante defeating Terrible, Mephisto, Rey Escorpion, Vangellys and rudo for a night Magnus. Might have been to stretch out the show to allow Rush to make both; Angel de Oro & Stuka got replaced in the undercard because they were in the main event here.
Mistico’s injury doesn’t come across as severe in the pictures, but he’s had this one so many times that he might have gotten used to working with it. It’s hard to believe it’ll get better without surgery, but I’m not a doctor. Sky Team keeping their titles means Atlantis has to beat Mephisto to get to the 16 champion number needed for the Universal tournament. (Or they can just change the rules, as they’ve done before.)
They also put this week’s Leyendas Inmortales show, which looks a lot better on their channel than mine.
AAA announced they’ll have a new website and new people on social media sometime soon. I’d guess that means they’ve signed a deal with a new internet company, which is at least two weeks overdue. That they didn’t have some ready to take over when the previous person left and that it’s taken two weeks to find someone new suggests a significant level of disorganization. Even now, you’ll find nothing about AAA’s taping this upcoming week in Tehuacan on AAA’s website or social media account.
Skandalo, who’s been out with injury issues for large portions of the last two years, is listed on a show on October 3. It’d be about a year since his last match.
Douki & Low Rider are headed to Japan on 10/10 to work for the Tokyo Gurentai promotion
Mr. Niebla’s first Arena Mexico booking in a month, though he’s booked every place else this week leading up to this match.
I’m generally okay with losing live Sundays for live Mondays – and we get the same Dragon Lee/Kamaitachi match either way! Kamaitachi is 2-6 in singles matches against his rival, 0-4 in three fall matches.
CMLL (FRI) 08/21/2015Arena México [CMLL]
1) El Rebelde & Metálico b Robin & Sensei Rudos took 1/3, Metalico sneaking in a foul on Rebelde.
2) Shockercito, Stukita, Último Dragoncito b Demus 3:16, Mercurio, Pequeño Violencia Tecnicos took 1/3, Shockercito defeating Demus.
3) Misterioso Jr., Pierroth, Sagrado b Fuego, Rey Cometa, Titán Rudos took falls 1/3
4) Boby Zavala b Guerrero Maya Jr. [En Busca de un Idolo] Zavala won with his Indian Deathlock bridging cradle in a disappointing match. Zavala hurt his shoulder on a tope about midway thru the match and was not himself the rest of the way. Zavala was pinned for the finish, and Maya vehemently argued the result. Zavala had a good promo celebrating his win. LA Park appeared after they had left, challenging Rush to a mask versus hair match, and challenging Dr. Wagner, Ultimo Guerrero, La Sombra and Atlantis in general.
5) Dragon Lee, Mistico, Volador Jr. b Cavernario, Felino, Último Guerrero Ultimo Guerrero replaced Negro Casas (injury). Volador & Mistico won, tecnicos taking falls 2/3. Ultimo Guerrero sent Dragon Lee over the railing and followed with his leaping hipcheck attack, but got jumped by Thunder. Thunder destroyed UG, asked the crowd if they wanted Thunder/UG for the Anniversary show, and then declared he did not want it.
6) La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush b Atlantis, Máximo, Valiente Ingobernables won in straight falls. Atlantis pulled of Sombra’s mask for the DQ in the first fall, Sombra snuck in a foul on Atlantis in the second fall. They feuded heavily, and Sombra took Atlantis’ mask after the match while promising to do the same at the Anniversary show.
The main was a pretty good angle to ramp up the intensity going into the match.
The En Busca de un Idolo had some promise but was ultimately disappointing. Zavala didn’t hit Maya flush with the tope; I really wasn’t sure if it was an intended miss that didn’t quite miss or Zavala trying to do a different style tope (maybe Maximo style?) and not pulling it off. Zavala did not do much after the dive, and had one really bad moment where he was supposed to flip to the apron, could not do it, and just stopped and walked thru the ropes. Zavala usually bridges keep his shoulders off the mat on that cradle, and maybe he couldn’t pull it off because of the injury. Maya flipped out after the finish and the crowd was behind him thinking he’d gotten screwed either by the finish or by looking like the better guy in the match. (Maya hasn’t reappeared on Twitter since the loss, which suggests at least some of that anger wasn’t staged.) Zavala always seemed like a guy who would eventually make it to the top, but this tournament helps him that way. CMLL and/or NJPW’s desire to always change up the undercard talent on the FantasticaMania shows means Maya may still make it to Japan someday, but it’s less certain when.
Shockercito beating Demus clean felt like it was the end of that issue for the time being.
Fenix is thrilled to be teaming with Rey Mysterio, would not follow Myzteziz to the rudo side.
Ray Rowe & Violento Jack vs Mascada & Aero Boy vs Ciclope & Pagano has been added to the September 6 ChilangaMask in Coliseo Coacalco. Rowe challenged Masada and/or Rush when he appeared here in July, so he got one of those. I don’t quite understand why normal tag team parnters Violento Jack & Aeroboy are not on the same time, but I’m guessing they wanted Rowe/Masada/Pagano to all fight each other.
Gran Cuchillo talks about his double life as luchador and police officer.

Wagner with the Ingobernables doesn’t seem like it’ll work out well.
Tercera is the usual post En Busca de un Idolo cibernetico, with the mentors teaming with their team.
CMLL’s show tonight has Sombra and Atlantis on top, which they’ll be doing a lot for the next month. It’s a straight rematch of last week’s main event, with Atlantis, Valiente and Maximo versus los Ingobernables. This’ll be the first match since the Anniversary show was announced and it’ll be worth watching to see
The biggest match tonight is the Guerrero Maya Jr. versus Boby Zavala En Busca de un Idolo final. Zavala has won the two previous meetings between them during the tournament. A sweep has been done before: Vangellys won all three matches over Valiente in winning this tournament two years ago. This one is a total coin toss.
The winner of this tournament gets a higher position on the card, gets a title shot, probably gets on the Anniversary show, and gets onto the FantasticaMania tour next year. (The loser might go as well – for the first two years, the final four in En Busca de un Idolo all were used on the tour the following year.)
The entire show will air on clarosports.com. Last week, they were restricting the video to only Mexico at the start of the show. HolaVPN worked well to get around that restriction. I’m not sure if I’m recording the show; I had other plans and I’m not sure I want to change them to watch another Robin match.
If you do watch the show, the other thing to look for is any sign of another apuesta match for the Anniversary show. There’s been ones on previous years: Cavernario/Cometa last year, Averno/Panther in 2013, and Puma/Cometa in 2012. There was a tease of a Shockercito/Demus feud last week, though that’s not as big names as those other promotions.
SuperLuchas looks back at Espectro II’s passing in 1982 and an all title match show on August 20th, 1968. I started looking thru the Informador archives to find/confirm when Ray Mendoza beat Alfonso Dantes for the national middleweight title in Guadalajara as we had listed in the wiki. I went thru 1968 and others years for a couple weeks and could not find it – because it was actually in Mexico City on that day, as this recap notes.
