Piratas vs Navarros, AAA & CMLL in Puebla, BOLA

IWRG (SUN) 08/30/2015 Arena Naucalpan [+LuchaTV, Lucha Mundial (Facebook), Mano a Mano]
1) Adrenalina & Galaxy b Alas de Acero & Voltar
2) Acero, Hip Hop Man, Ram El Carnero b Aeroman, Dragon Bane, Kanon
Debuts for Arena Aficion’s Dragon Bane and Ram (El Carnero)
3) Fresero Jr., Leo, Mike, Rafy b El Golpeador, Oficial AK47, Rayan, Spector
Fresero Jr replaced Teelo. First appearance for Comando Elite in about 4 months, debut for Arena Aficion’s Golpeador.
4) Hijo del Pantera & Pantera © b Diablo Jr. I & El Hijo del Diablo [IWRG IC TAG]
Panteras first defense. Said to be very good match, money thrown in.
5) Barba Roja, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan b Black Terry, Negro Navarro, Trauma II
Black Terry replaced Trauma I. Piratas wants a title rematch and Navarro accepted.

AYM feed was iffy this morning so I’m not sure if I’ll get this for tomorrow. (It’s been a bad week for recording videos.) As noted on the wiki, Barba Roja (Jr.) has the same birthday and build as Alfa.

Puebla’s the state to be in for lucha tonight. AAA returns to taping TV, three weeks after TripleMania, in Tehuacan. CMLL has it’s usual Monday night show in Arena Puebla. (The two shows are about 100 minutes away; only the super fans are skipping one to go to the other.) AAA’s show is listed as starting at 8:30 pm, but the usual delay means both shows will start around the 9pm show. The CMLL show will be on YouTube, the AAA show will start to air on TV this Saturday.

AAA’s taping is the more interesting show. The main event has Myzteziz & Rey Misterio facing off again, with Fenix teaming with Rey and Mesias joining Myzteziz. There’s a rare defense of a championship on a non-PPV with Psycho Clown challenging Chessman for the Latin American championship. Psycho probably should win the title – there’s more possibilities with him as champ – but it could be a setup to continue the feud with Villano V. Pentagon & Joe Lider resume operating as a tag team in a three way tag match, one of a few of those happening on this cycle of shows. There’s not much story reason for the rest of the undercard, but matches like Aerostar, Bengala, Drago and Daga, Hijo del Pirata Morgan, Steve Pain look very good.

Arena Puebla has Sombra versus Ultimo Guerrero for Sombra’s NWA Middleweight championship. Both Laguneros have very patterned styles of singles matches – it’s not hard to predict the sequence of moves in the last three minutes of the match – and Sombra really should win, but Sombra’s attitude and atheltic ability might make this worthwhile. The undercard is one of the least interesting since they’ve started the live broadcasts. There’s no locals on the show unless/until Morphosis is inevitable replaced by someone else. (Olimpico & Ripper are already booked, so it’ll have to be someone else.)

I’m not going to mention any PWG Battle of Los Angeles results because I know there are people who try very hard to avoid spoilers and they might not expect to see them there. The reaction sounds like the luchadors did great in a weekend where a lot of people did great. The Matt Sydal/Fenix first round match & an Angelico/Jack vs Ricochet/Rich Swann on Friday, the non-title Fenix/Aerostar vs Drago/Pentagon tag match on Saturday and a Pentagon match on Sunday sound like the best matches involving that group, but I might have missed something. Early indication is it’ll be October before the DVDs of the shows are released.

Rayman & Makabre continued their run as a successful Guadalajara tag team by keeping the Jalisco tag championship over Mr. Aguila & Pesdailla in Arena Roberto Paz on Saturday.

CMLL (SAT) 08/29/2015 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Pequeño Nitro b Aéreo
2) Magnus b Akuma
3) Soberano Jr. b Súper Comando
The Panther replaced Soberano Jr.
4) Metálico b Star Jr.
5) Sangre Azteca b Pegasso
6) Hechicero & Luciferno b Blue Panther Jr. & Esfinge
Rudos took 1/3
7) Blue Panther, La Máscara, Titán b Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Rey Escorpión
Blue Panther replaced Mistico on Monday.

A show.

SANCHEZ (SAT) 08/29/2015 Arena Neza [Estrellas del Ring, KronoSport]
1) Rayo Star & Sky Man b Estrella De Oro & Rey Carnero
2) Motocross, Puma, Taquero Maldito b Bryan El Stripper, Rey Neza, Soldado Del Futuro
3) Maldito Jr., Samot, Vampiro Metálico b Bugambilia, Flyer, La Abeja
4) Hombre Bala Jr. b Punker Bizarro
replaced Nicho vs Pagano.
5) Hijo de LA Park & La Parka Jr. b Nicho el Millionario & Pagano
Nicho & Pagano, scheduled for a match against each other, instead were a team against the Parks. They replaced Sombra & Rush. Sombra said they weren’t paid. These guys were paid by people throwing money in at least.

That’s a weird situation – if this promotion didn’t send CMLL a deposit, you’d think none of the CMLL guys (Flyer, Bala as a fill in) would be working the show. Which kind of suggests they might have been going around CMLL on this one, or something else weird was going on. Anyway, the fans who were wanted to see an extra match and it sounds like they got it.

CMLL (SUN) 08/30/2015 Arena México
1) Leono & Sensei b Camorra & Cholo
2) Amapola, Dalys, La Seductora b La Vaquerita, Lluvia, Skadi
Rudas took 2/3
3) Fuego, The Panther, Tritón DQ Puma, Sangre Azteca, Tiger
Tiger fouled and pulled Triton’s mask for the DQ.
4) Ángel de Oro, Rey Cometa, Titán b Nitro, Olímpico, Ripper
Nitro replaced Morphosis (double booked in Veracruz)
5) Dragon Lee © b Kamaitachi [CMLL SL]
Dragon Lee took 1/3 in another outstanding match. Dragon Lee’s third defense, all against Kamaitachi.
6) La Sombra, Super Porky, Valiente b Mr. Niebla, Shocker, Vangellys
Sombra ‘led’ the tecnicos to a 1/3 fall win.

It’s possible CMLL might run Dragon Lee versus Kamaitachi one more time in Guadalajara or sell it to an indy show, but it’s a little more likely this is the last Lee/Kamaitachi match. It’s got a chance to be feud of the year. The match will air next week on ClaroSports and in about a month on LATV (maybe), and they should give it all the time it needs given the rest of the lineup.

The Mr. Mexico Luchador body building contest was today. AAA wrestlers did fairly well, winning two of the competition groups. I only have scattered results

under 85 (or maybe 80) kg
1st place: Daga
2nd place: Mini Charly Manson
3rd place: Extasis
4th place: Alas de Plata
5th place: La Chiva (!!!!)
6th place: Mini Drago
7th place: Douki

over 85 kg
(no idea who won; there doesn’t seem to be an official results list up anywhere.)
2nd place: Hijo del Fantasma
4th place: Cibernetico
7th place: Copetes Salazar (!!)

women
1st: Taya Valkyrie
2nd: Sexy Lady
Maybe the two who competed? No one else was shown on stage.

Fantasma made it over to Arena San Juan Pantitlan for the Cara Lucha show, but Daga did not (and the promoters made it clear it was on Daga for not showing.) Full results tomorrow, but they also had the 09/16 lineup – see the lineups.

Halloween says he’s retiring from lucha extreme after the 09/17 DTU show. He’s also saying Familia de Tijuana have talked to CMLL but does not say they’re officially coming.

+LuchaTV posted this week’s Leyendas Inmortales, which has the TV version of the Negro Casas vs Fuerza Guerrera match from March.

Super Libre had lots of interviews, including with Valiente (who is under the belief he’s not on the Anniversary show) and Metalico.

Matt Farmer found a note the NWA sent to the Mexican lucha libre commission about the NWA Light Heavyweight belt being stripped in 1974.

Lineups

Cara Lucha (WED) 09/16/2015 Arena San Juan Pantitlan, Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, Estado de México
1) Centvrión & Látigo vs Metaleón & Mr. Leo
2) Fly Star & Toxin Boy vs Flyer & Hombre Bala Jr.
3) Eléctrico & Principe Diamante vs Rayo Star & Sky Man
4) Andy Boy, Danger, Guerrero Mixtico vs Centinela, Epydemius, Ultimo Ninja
5) Boby Zavala & Pólvora vs Aeroboy & Violento Jack
6) Rush vs LA Park vs Pagano

I’m pretty sure I never imagined I’d see the semimain. I only watch indy shows with Polvora on them.

Fourth match is a Monterrey invasion, second and third are CMLL versus indies, and everyone’s going to die in the first match.

CMLL (SAT) 09/05/2015 Arena Coliseo
1) Bengala vs Cholo
2) Robin vs Inquisidor
3) Flyer vs Hijo del Signo
4) Súper Halcón Jr. vs Canelo Casas
5) Hombre Bala Jr. vs Arkángel de la Muerte
6) Fuego & Tritón vs Pierroth & Sagrado
7) Dragon Lee, La Máscara, Volador Jr. vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Hechicero, Pólvora

La Mascara & Volador back together again. This is not a promising lineup.

CMLL (SUN) 09/06/2015 Arena México
1) Fantasy & Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Nitro & Pequeño Olímpico
2) Magnus, Oro Jr., Soberano Jr. vs Akuma, Artillero, Súper Comando
3) Delta, Esfinge, Tritón vs Disturbio, Pierroth, Sagrado
4) Dragon Lee vs Virus [lightning]
5) Ángel de Oro, Guerrero Maya Jr., Titán vs Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja
6) Marco Corleone, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Vangellys

Dragon Lee thinks he’s safe, thinks he’s finally shook Kamaitachi, and there’s Virus back to make his life tough. I approve. (I have no earthly idea what we do if they do Lee/Virus on 09/20, but they never do a second title match that fast.)

Look at Disturbio! Graduated to the midcard treadmill!

Chaos all the way thru, with Rush vs Park and Atlantis vs Sombra pushed. Team Sombra took falls 2/3, the last with a Sombra mask pull on Atlantis and a Wagner foul and Wagner Driver on Park.

Really good show. Maybe not the best show to take place on Friday, but a lot more exciting that most Friday nights. Crowd was much bigger than usual, with the lower bowl looking close to full and the upper bowl opened up with some people up there. There were a lot of the wide shots of the crowd CMLL usually avoids. Park & Wagner always have great debuts that attract a lot of attention when they show up in a promotion, and this was more of the same. (It’s the doing the big matches that’s the problem.)

Main event is worth going out of your way to see. My version has the quality problems that won’t go away, but there’s a clean (with no entrances) version over on Claro’s website. The cibernetico was also really good, possibly the best match that happened to the 2015 En Busca de un Idolo cibernetico.

CMLL said they’d announce the full lineup for the Anniversary show on Informa this week. There’s no sign of Thunder & Ultimo Guerrero. LA Park made mask versus hair challenges towards Rush again, but it doesn’t feel like that’s close to happening.

Wagner notes some fans were upset he came back as a rudo, but he’s happy to be what CMLL Needs him to be. He also says he’s going after “Ramoncito or Voladorcito”.  LA Park calls Wagner a traitor for teaming with Sombra after bad mouthing the Ingobernables on the indies. Park says he weighs 132 KG (291 lb), and he looked every bit of that. Wagner & LA Park both talked about “smoking the peace pipe with CMLL”, which I can believe is an actual event that occurred.

Today’s Sabado Retros has the Revolucionarios versus La Mascara, Titan and Blue Panther for the main event. Sunday has the Mr. Niebla Arena Mexico return, plus another Dragon Lee/Kamataichi title match. (It’d be a big surprise if Dragon Lee lost now.) It sounds like there may be a private sponsored show at Arena Mexico Saturday night as well.

Mini Charly Manson, Taya and Atomic Boy talk about their preparation for Sunday’s Mr. Mexico body building contest. Atomic Boy still exists! (He says he’s returning from surgery, which he must’ve had a few times by now.)

CMLL announced winners for it’s story writing contest in the 7-9 age group and the 10-12 group. The older group first place story was called “Mistico versus the Invasion of the Hechiceros”. There’s a honorable mention winner who wrote about Pegasso & Sensei versus some monster.

Lineups

IWRG (WED) 09/02/2015 Arena Naucalpan
1) Centella Orietnal & Chicanito vs Adrenalina & Vardeus
2) Blue Metal, Blue Monsther, Omega vs Magnum 44, Power Bull, Vampiro Metálico
3) Freyser, Hijo del Alebrije, Super Jack vs Acero, Galaxy, Kanon
4) Aeroman, Diablo Jr. I, Eternus vs Alas de Acero, Aramis, Atomic Star
5) Black Terry, Dragón Fly, Voltar vs Oficial AK47, Pikachu, Toxin Boy
6) Eterno vs Oficial 911
one fall main event

They’re back on Wednesdays after a week off, with the Terry/Eterno/Oficials three way feud contuning in the top matches. Super Jack is back here.

CMLL (FRI) 09/04/2015 Arena México
1) Blue Panther Jr., Fuego, The Panther vs Luciferno, Puma, Tiger
2) Ángel de Oro, Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr. vs Ephesto, Kamaitachi, Mephisto
3) Titán vs Pólvora [lightning]
4) Blue Panther, La Máscara, Super Porky vs Boby Zavala, Rey Bucanero, Shocker
5) Mistico, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Cavernario, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
6) Dr. Wagner Jr. & La Sombra vs Atlantis & LA Park

Similar main event, without Volador & Rush involved. Sombra and Wagner have never teamed in a 2v2 match. I’m not sure if it’s even been publicly confirmed (possibly for political reasons), but the story I’ve heard in the past is Wagner was the one who got Sombra into CMLL way back when.

Peste Negra versus Sky Team could be a set up to a trios title match on the Anniversary show. No Ultimo Guerrero and Thunder seems to eliminate them from an apuesta match on that show, but maybe we all will be surprised on Wednesday.

I feel like the fourth match is a nice time to take a break, maybe fix myself a drink. Congrats Boby. Titan versus Polvora should be fun. Good to see Kamaitachi ahead of Luciferno, but Puma and Tiger behind Ephesto is weird. Those first two matches should be fun.

LA Park & Dr. Wagner return to CMLL tonight

Today is LA Park & Dr. Wagner Jr.’s return to Arena Mexico. It’s their first appearance on an official CMLL show since November 2008.  They’re on opposite sides of the main event, which makes sense given their never ending feud, but is a bit of a surprise since Park has framed this as an Indy vs Ingobernables issue. Instead, Wagner will team with the Ingobernables Rush & La Sombra versus Volador Jr., Atlantis, and LA Park. While Atlantis/Sombra is the bigger issue, the interest will all be on what LA Park and Wagner will do in their return.

There’s not a lot of note elsewhere on the card. The En Busca de un Idolo participants are scheduled to be in a ten men cibernetico, but that seems iffy at best. Negro Casas hasn’t been able to make any of his matches this week and Boby Zavala noting he was still hurt on CMLL Informa. The other matches on the show are Marco, Valiente and Dragon Lee versus Rey Escorpion, Mephisto and Ephesto, the Boricuas versus Stuka Jr., Rey Cometa and the Panther, and Pegasso & Stigma versus Hijo del Signo & Arkangel. The show starts on 8:30pm and should stream region free on clarosports.com.

The item to watch for outside of a match is the preview for next week. There’s still time for them to start the Universal tournament if it’s going to end at the Anniversary show (which would mean no Thunder/UG on that show.) If it’s not announced tonight, it’s going to be held off for a while.

The Ticketmaster site shows only scattered floor seats left. The first level is unsold mostly, and they’re not selling any higher than that.

Ciclope and Violento Jack lost their matches in FREEDOMS today, but are said to have gotten good reactions from the crowd.
